I'm a self defense guy. Based in Toronto.

REASONABLE and COMMON SENSE.
Are invaluable tools.
Thank You.
Thank you for precisely explain this tricky area of law.
I used to live in Utah which has Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground. The Utah State Criminal Code (Eg 76-2-405) clearly outlines when you may use terminal force in defence of self, another person, or property.
Translation: canada = will protect the criminal and will in-prison the victim.
Super important distinction. As a Canadian I feel like many of our conceptions of self-defence are rooted in American media, with little to no understanding of the actual laws that govern our ability to reasonably use force.
Can't leave the home if it's more than a couple stories up in the air, or you are in the second floor. Guess those people would be forced to call the cops and stand their ground until they arrive. In my city, that is a matter of hours until the cops show up.
Can you go through all the US amendments and comment for each amendment whether Canada has (or does not have) an equivalent statute
Our legal system is based on British Common Law.
Forget America and the American Constitution.
Does not apply here and very few "equivalents".
Then when you do protect your family and home, the crooked cops will charge you
Seeing how violent the drug addicts are you should be able to my apartment gives me no exits once im in my own home basically have no choice 14 stories up in a high-rise
Mike, can you defend you self from an officer of the law? If the cop goes berserk and tries to kill you. What if they are an American cop (FBI, NSA etc) ? Or CSIS agent or a judge?
If you’re getting into fisty cuffs with computer nerds from bsa or scic you have other problems lol
If the castle doctrine deters people from invading homes, maybe we should have that doctrine. I wonder why we don't have it unless people can abuse the castle doctrine.
The home invasion rate seems to be higher in the US than Canada. Not sure why you think it would deter people.
@@jonyboulder2 That's why I said an if-statement.
@@jonyboulder2 You also seem to be speaking out of context to the video that I am commenting on.
Canadian law= explaining why you had to defend yourself from danger and badguy , being in imminent death or dangerous situation is not valid for Canadian law to defend yourself. What a joke of a nation.
