Totally agree here! It is in a hostel that you realize that your consequences have actions, you get to experiment with setting up routines, you learn from different people and different perspectives, and get a lot of new influences (it is here I read Dostoevsky and heard Pink Floyd for the first time!). Doing chores and managing your monthly allowance makes you realize what all your parents have been doing for you and running a house in general, so you hopefully end up appreciating their role in your life as well. Most of all, it allows you to step outside from your comfort zone, as well-meaning parents sometimes consciously or unconsciously decide your limits for you in order to protect yourself 😅 speaking as a formee male student that has lived in a hostel, this was definitely an important transition to enter the real world for me. A great video and must be shared in parents' WhatsApp Groups atleast 😊
