Ya know, a lot of these grass tutorials were running 30, 40, 50 minutes long... And you managed to get in everything we need to know in 5 minutes! Great tutorial! :)
Oh SHIT!!! What you explained in 4 minutes, I'm taking a course of 3 complete chapters with so many hours! YOU MADE IT SIMPLE & EASY to understand!! THANK YOU!!!
im not a blender user .. never used it .. never thought i would .. after watching ur channel for a long time .. i'm REALLY considering .. you really know how to make it look easy / friendly . without a doubt you are the best guy i've seen on the internet giving tuts :D keep them coming bro . + subscribed
Man, all of your tutorials are very useful! Sometimes your english pronounciation can be a bit hard to understand, but that's almost never a problem anyways, so thanks! Learned more about Blender from you in a few hours than I have learned in the past several weeks combined!
Gleb, krasava. Ochen poleznoe delo delaesh, spasibo tebe. bolshaya prosba esli u tebya budet vozmojnost napisat urok po nodam i kak ih ispolzovat mixovat, azi vobshem. Ya nedavno v blender pereshol s modo i videl kak v compoze bez lishnih renderov s pomoshiyu nod menyali fon texturi i t.d.spasibo za uroki.
Brother thank you so much! I am actually trying to figured out grass field with very similar approach and you gave me quite a few GREAT hints! Stunning result man! Are you that good for making a trees as well? I would love to see one tutorial of that kind for trees ;) Thank you again!
I will share man - but I have to make one uniform, cut with lawnmower as it is for visualization. I absolutely love your result- more natural! But you know how people want to see grass in front of home... Anyways - will share ;) I wonder how this light setup works for whole house...
HELP WITH PROBLEMS / SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS I FOUND: 1. If your grass is not touching the plane or is all over the place, make sure the origins are set to the center of each object in the group. Do this by setting the 3-d cursor to the center of them and doing Ctrl alt shift c. 2. For the particle system, do not follow the values on the left side of the screen, follow the ones one the right side of the screen that he actually entered. I think the crazy slav was a little Vodka drunk when entering the values to the left. 3. When he duplicates the particle systems to make the dry grass one, you have to duplicate the grass object and make them a part of a new group (ctrl g) and then remove the old group in the object tab. Make a new mat for these, and then make a new particle system for the plane. Change the particle settings on the new one to the same as the old one, then click the little 2 that pops up next to it. Then change the group that the system uses to the new one you created for the dry grass. 4. For the particle texture thing, there will be two sliders once you get the particle system texture made. (to do that, just kindve fuck with it till it works idk.) Once in the texture tab and you see the sliders, drag them to the opposite side they are originally, they will cross. Then play with it till it looks good. 5. For the lighting he uses, make sure you follow Blender Guru's video on 'the secret to photorealism', otherwise it might look off. I will update as I find more problems / solutions, feel free to ask if i dont esplain something well. Cant guarantee ill answer but i might.
It would be great if someone created a little program that called up a sequence list of all the keys and commands and options used when the creating whatever it is. Call it 'command tape' or something. students could scroll through, and quickly get an understanding of the workflows involved in creating.
Fucking beautiful. Amazing how smoothly executed this is and well presented. Would love to see grass look this good in video games, I know it's progressing this way.
I agree, it is always possible to look or ask for info on how to do steps you don' t get, but wading through tutes that take hours just to find the three nuggets you're looking for is a pain. So I prefer short overviews like this.
fantastic! Other tutorials last hours, its great that you cover just 4 minutes with the main information. I'm very glad to find your channel! Keep up :)
Great tutorial Gleb. I really like your concise approach to tutorial creation and also you have a unique approach to things which is both fast and professional. Keep up the great work.
Wonderful tutorial but I am struggling with the inverting ramp part. It makes sense and should be easy but it just fills up the whole thing instead when I invert it?
Celestial. Sg I couldn’t get them to like, bind to the specific particle systems. They just would not separate when I switched between them in the texture tab
Hi Alex, you did a great job! I love the tutorial because it is a quick one, approx 5 minutes and the result is near to photo realistic! And it is easy to follow for a beginner! Thanks Alex!
Alex.. Obviously you're an expert at this... But for tutoring it needs be done a bit slower since "students" aren't familiar with this program nor know where are the tools at, nor are know the terms nor the actual effects... And if one is one the USA, the accent may not be well recognizing the words as well... So if everything over all slows down, the tutorials would be much more effective... Thanks for the presentation(s).
I don't believe this tutorial is made for beginners who just start the program its a technique not a basic blender tutorial. So i think the speed is great and the faster the tutorial the less the chance to get bored.About his accent i am Bulgarian and i still understand everything he says.
Like they said it isn't a beginner tutorial. Secondly, I'm from the U.S. as well and I understood everything he said. & This is one of my favorite videos. I think the length and execution were excellent.
Glad I’m not the only one having this issue. When he made the particle system, how did he get it to be the grass clumps he had created? It was like he skipped that step
@ 1:17 How are you getting the subdivide options to float out on the display? Mine pops up in the tool shelf window. It's not a big deal but I would prefer it the way it pops up for you.
It requires more work, but it's a great alternative to buying the $80 Blender Grass Essentials pack. I'm always hesitant to buy 3D models because I don't want to become reliant on them. I want to have the confidence and ability to be able to rely on myself to make everything in my scene if I need to.
Because we are using objects as hair particles, I cannot use the "Hair BSDF" node on it. Are you applying the Hair node to your emission plane? with a simple diffuse on your grass mesh itself? Fixed it, added to objects not to emitter, didn't seem to work the first time, thank you for your great tutorial.
I like this fast tutorial speed, I can pause or slow down the video from settings if needed. I appreciate that you can crank awesome tutorials out and if it's easier and more fun this fast way, I think it should be that way, so we get more content and tutorials in return. Thanks! :)
Can't wait too see your grass field. Great pickup line
cried
JUST DO IT!!
i tried it and got a shoe to the face, thanks dude.
i tried this and my courtdate is set for 1stof august :)
I respect how you respect our time with a 4 min tutorial. You are the man
I was expecting to see a 1 hour tut. You covered it all in 4 min, wow. Nice job.
That's his style, he covers stuff in a tenth the time any other tutorial maker would. He definitely respects people's time.
Well.. practice isnt about time, but learn what you are actual doing.
I appreciate it. Especially how he doesn't want us to follow it exactly like when he messes with the grass. So we can practice it on our own ^^
he explained what you have to do. I still don't know how to fucking use the particle system but yeah
Best tutorial ever: Short, good results, fancy, non-irritating music, and a nice production. Good job!
probably the best tutorial I've ever seen. short, straight to the point yet still explanatory, and the video is pleasant to watch
I love your tutorial-style, perfect for intermediate and advanced users.
I saw your video too. I am beginner. Your one suits me :D
Quick, to the point and easy to follow best tut. I have seen in a while. Thanks Gleb
You are welcome, Steve. Trying to cover the subject briefly, to make the overall technique comprehensible.
The shortest detailed tutorial I ever seen! Nice.
Ya know, a lot of these grass tutorials were running 30, 40, 50 minutes long... And you managed to get in everything we need to know in 5 minutes! Great tutorial! :)

The best tutorial on creating grass. Thank you Gleb!

Wow. Short but straight to the point. Good job!
Very concise and to the point. I saw a tutorial of the same subject but it was an HOUR long. You are very good.
Fast and strait to the point, very good job !!!
The best grass tutorial ever!
bro 8 years in the future and I found this. It has saved me so much time.
Can you make an updated one please?
22 seconds in and I have no clue on how to do what he just did.
don't worry, you are just stupid
This is not for begginers. Basic stuff can't be repeated all over in every single video, don't you think?
Tell that to Andrew Price.
Gleb Alexandrov
videos are not for beginners
Thats why his videos are an hour long
I'm very new to blender and this tutorial is a bit fast, but it helps introduce multiple parts of blender I may have never messed with
best blender grass tutorial on youtube
Дружище, это то, что нужно!
great format, 5 minutes, straigt to the point
Great tutorial. I really did like the briefness of the explanations skipping all the tedious repetitions found in most other tutorials.
That's a really cool tip about inverting the texture.
Отличный, емкий урок. краткость - сестра таланта :)
Brother thank you so much! I am actually trying to figured out grass field with very similar approach and you gave me quite a few GREAT hints! Stunning result man! Are you that good for making a trees as well? I would love to see one tutorial of that kind for trees ;) Thank you again!
Make sure to share your field when it's done! :)
Андрей Золин Спасибо!
I will share man - but I have to make one uniform, cut with lawnmower as it is for visualization. I absolutely love your result- more natural! But you know how people want to see grass in front of home... Anyways - will share ;)
I wonder how this light setup works for whole house...
Quick, efficient and helpful. The settings being shown on the left during the different parts is very helpful. Keep up the good work, Gleb.

Thanks man! Especially number 3 helped me out a lot since I'm not familiar with particle materials
ur the best person ever

Call it 'command tape' or something. students could scroll through, and quickly get an understanding of the workflows involved in creating.
blender has something like that
isn't it a log?
Already exists
Wonderful tutorial! A lot of tutorials I've found are very slow and meandering- this gets straight to the point, and creates a wonderful effect!
Amazing tutorial - everything zipped to only absolute info and presented in perfect way.
The finished product looks amazing.
One of the best and simplest TUTS I've seen! Thanks for this please make more like this!
The multiple sun lamps trick had me dropping my jaw, you never fail to impress me! Great tut
Great job Gleb!
Клёво! Быстро, доходчиво и без лишней болтовни! Спасибо!
Wow, very quick and fantastic tut. Love the look of it
Excellent tutorial. I comment on this from 2020 and even on 2016 this was so good.
Fucking beautiful. Amazing how smoothly executed this is and well presented. Would love to see grass look this good in video games, I know it's progressing this way.
Straight and to the Point. I like it.
Your tutorials are spectacular. Stylish, clear, very interesting to watch! Keep it up!
I love your style for tutorials
finally a useful AND short tutorial
Thanks!

Great tutorial Gleb. I really like your concise approach to tutorial creation and also you have a unique approach to things which is both fast and professional. Keep up the great work.
i use blender but never knew how great it could be
wow really like your tutorials simple, quick, and informative
Best tut for grass in Blender! Thank you!
Wonderful tutorial but I am struggling with the inverting ramp part. It makes sense and should be easy but it just fills up the whole thing instead when I invert it?
same! Im trying so hard nothing works
KernalKeen yeah I just ended up doing it in random patterns and it still looked cool for my standards 😅
Celestial. Sg I couldn’t get them to like, bind to the specific particle systems. They just would not separate when I switched between them in the texture tab
What a soothing background music. Thanks for this great tutorial!
Batman - There was background music? Lol. Either I was way too focused on making grass or I should've been went to sleep.
Really amazing quality of video and grass. I can't wait to try it myself!
Another great tutorial! I have to give this a try.
Extremely helpful intermediate tutorial!
Waow, this tutorial is very good, quick and clear.
total noob here, best tutorial ever, learned so much so fast
Hi Alex, you did a great job! I love the tutorial because it is a quick one, approx 5 minutes and the result is near to photo realistic! And it is easy to follow for a beginner! Thanks Alex!
Great videos! Inspirational for small animation channels like myself!
Beautiful work!
Thank for your toturial, this is my work! Jungle done in Blender

Informative and straight to the point - thanks!
Great tutorial, great background music, and freaking great accent! Love it.
Самая красивая трава из всех что я видел! Чувак ты крут!
чувствуется русская нотка в твоей интонации), красавчик, спасибо за тутор
Thank you very much, thats really helpful for me, such a good tutorial with so much details
Amazing man....!!!! Good Job
@ 1:17 How are you getting the subdivide options to float out on the display? Mine pops up in the tool shelf window. It's not a big deal but I would prefer it the way it pops up for you.
the menu pops up @ 0:17 not 1:17 sry.
Rick Badeau F6 does it
Ty much

So how to do the particle system? You skipped the most important stuffs :|
Beautiful and easy trick
Thank you Alex. Good tutorial.
can you go into more depth when it comes to particle texturing? @1:50 plz
Wow ! great tutorial, so many good ideas in it ! the best 3D grass tuto I've ever seen. thanx for sharing.
thanks for watching!
Look's nice, Gleb.
Great TUT!!! Short, informative, clean - PERFECT!
I didn't get that with a fractal parameter :-( How do i get this panel at min. 0:21. right after subdivide? Any help would be very appreciated
you subdivide then press f6
Also the particle settings wont let me render using a group for my grass clump mesh.
I enjoyed your activity Alexandrov. Hope you can charge many other articles more. ' Thank you very much.
You are awesomely talented! 😮 Thanks for making this video.
Simple and impressive.
Темная магия кажется, не в конце. Весь ролик - темная магия! 😱 Thanks a lot!
Nice tutorial. Very relaxing!
OMG you did an hour long tut in 4 minutes?? YES I AM SO SUBSCRIBING SO DAMN HARD!!!
I like this fast tutorial speed, I can pause or slow down the video from settings if needed. I appreciate that you can crank awesome tutorials out and if it's easier and more fun this fast way, I think it should be that way, so we get more content and tutorials in return. Thanks! :)
You made it look so simple
why when i press subdivide the menu at 0:16 doesn't come up?
