Hey, quick question. I followed through with the tutorial, but got stuck towards the end. When I render my grass, it appears all fuzzy, like the trees in the Lorax movie. You can’t make out the grass, because it comes out like fuzzy and blurry. Any idea on what it could be?
if you having issues finding the hair info node, in the latest versions of blender the Curves info node works just as well! Also make sure to change your "Render as" material to grass in the particle properties panel under "renders"
It really is a grass making secret tutorial. I rarely found such a dedicated detailed DIY. Hope you would make another one for a Floor Tile. Many Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Waiting...
quick tip for absolute beginner.. if we select Principle BSDF node then press shift+ctrl+T and select the PBR texture images...it will setup all the necessary node automatically.

That's a good example of using hair particles. I wonder if you could also flatten each particle. Grass isn't tubular but it's more like a tapered ribbon. That's my only complaint! If there's a way to add flatten to the shape, this might be good. But did I see over 4 million triangles in the stats? If you could make each particle an instance, that might save on # of faces, right? Then you could literally scatter millions of grass blades but not have millions of polys but since the are small maybe it's fine. I don't know. Thx for the nice method!!!
Ofcourse you can flatten each particle, make them a collection, and use the collection as particle instances. Yes and this method would be better. I want to make another tutorial about making grass. But I am gonna use geometry nodes this time.
@@GraphicsMK yeah, I'm watching CG Obaid tutorial using geoscatter. I might try that method because the meshes for grass in that and how the result looks is really good. I haven't gotten far enough to find one way to do anything. Im only watching tutorials for weeks. So, doing it your way could be nice. It''s amazing how flexible blender is and all you can do with it. I can't wait to try but I am just binge watching tutorials. hehe

Great great tutorial MK! I only have one issue, when I activate child feature, the hair generated are way taller then the original one, I tried to put a super small value on the child lenght but it didn't change the situation and I strictly need this short lenght for my project, do you know how can I fix this?

Most probably 'transparent' option is enabled in the render settings. Go to render properties tab, scroll down to film panel, and disable the transparent option.

Did you try selecting “ Denoise “ under render options? And did you try increasing the render resolution as well? That should give you less noise when you finish the render.
Trying this and the hair particles are on the wrong side of my plane. My grass is growing upside down and I can’t actually see it in my scene. How do you fix this without having to rotate my ground plane around and messing up my shot?
Those who can not find "Hair Info" node. Pls try to find "Curve Info" node instead of it. You can use it.

Once we export this to unity only ground is coming up and no grass is there, I chose FBX scale unit and Export Selected unit only any suggestions ??

This helped a ton. Now the only thing I'm having a problem with is the child hair not showing up in the viewport, but that's not a big issue.

Select the plane, go to edit mode. All vertices are selected, presss Alt N, and flip the normals. I hope this works.

Search for the Curve Info node. Blender new versions use this instead of hair info.
