For those having trouble with the new Gscatter Version, you use the gscatter tab and select the plane for the emitter and then click the library (books icon) button next to the window below (right side) - select the grass you're using - scatter select and hit ok. That did it for me for the new blender version users, hope this helps.
@@Tre_Di click the circle next to the eye and the camera. Its next to the selected object emitter and next to where the book is. That worked for me, it should work for you as well.
I'm glad that you point out that the use of pre-made assets is a time-saver. Not a replacement for real knowledge. Many tutorials gloss over that. As someone who's been in a hiring position several times for 3D. I can't tell you how many so-called "Asset-flippers" we encounter that frankly just waste our time. People whose entire reels are cobbled together from premade assets, or generated from various plugins and 3rd party programs. like Arborea, Vue etc. It's gone to the point where we have had to become a bit more harsh in this regard after having lost hundreds of thousands (yes really) in hiring and onboarding costs for people who showed impressive looking reels... Only to find out that they could only do very very rudimentary 3D. We'd be 3 months down the line and we'd be like: OK we need this bespoke landscape made for our client. Billy, you had a great landscape in your reel, please make one that fits this specific brief. ... And then it turns out Billy used a 3rd party auto-generation program like Vue to make his reel, and even if we DID have an expensive Vue-license, it's not granular enough to make the kind of landscape we want. The reason I'm telling you all of this is for the benefit of up-and-coming aspiring 3D-artists who may be reading. Be MINDFUL of what you learn and be MINDFUL of what you put in your reel/portfolio. It's OK to use pre-made assets if they support the focus-object of your scenes. STILL, if you CAN avoid that; I would. As senior 3D artists, we understand that using Pre-made assets is a nifty time-saving way of life. We do it all the time. But when you're applying for a job it will be far more impressive if you can put a lil : Everything in this reel is made from scratch by Billy Bobson Then we know that: Damn, this dude knows his stuff.
Hi James! I've just finished your sandy beach tutorial and I was f*ucking happy being able to create such a scene. I have just started using Blender a month ago, so you've just opened a new horizon in front of me. I hope I'll understand Blender as naturally as you, one day. Anyway, thank you very much for your work. I'll definitely learn from this video as well.
You are so underrated. I hope your channel/videos go viral and more blender users sees/subs to you. I'd recommend you whenever i can. Thanks for these tutorials. :)
17:11 alone is worth my entire 40 minutes holy shit i thought node wrangler whas nice but that shit is noice gonna save me allot time thank you so much😍😱
Thanks for the tutorial, it's really awesome, learn a lot of it. But is it me or HD 1080p is not very HD? Really hard to read and follow with all these big pixels...
you have a very outstanding teaching skills. that's what will make you great. not teaching what to think, but how to think. very good explanations in every examples. keep it up.
Not sure if it's just me but i am struggling to get the free Graswald addon to work in Blender. I have installed the zip file in the Add-ons tab but it wont show up, not sure why, I'm also using Blender 3.1.2 atm
What a great tutorial for a beginner! The pace of the video and the explanation is perfect & missing from so many other tutorials + the great tips regarding scene/viewport optimisation
For anyone not seeing the nodes Make sure your Node Wrangler add on is enabled. Second Make sure you click the principled bsdf node before pressing the Ctrl+shift+T. But now im in the part where its not applied to the plane. I dont see it lol ughhhhhhh
There are some tutorials on how to make grass, its fairly easy. If you have some money instead of grasswald wich is pretty expensive you could get botaniq, they have a lite version wich have some trees, grass and flowers. I would recomend investing on addons for nature stuff, its really time consuming to produce high quality assets like that. I would also recommend checking Artstation, cubebrush and sketchfab for some free assets every now and then. Start building your own library of free assets and in few months you will have stuff to work.
Hey James!! Incredible tutorial! Just starting with blender and this has been so amazing and so easy to follow along- Please do more! Love your work. One question- when I am adding the environment hdri skies- my base plane doesn't seem to be changing in colour to match the scene chosen hdri? Any ideas? Thanks. Nick
in new blender version there is no 'material' and a lot things u do in ur video, at least i can't find it at all 😥 can smb help me? or this stuff is only in Pro version?
Hi James, thanks for the amazing tutorial. Used it a while ago to make the grass hill and it worked. Now I am trying the same texturing technique on a different and larger plane in a different scene but I only get a greenish color but nothing further comes up (i.e. the picture, the textures etc). Any idea what couldbe wrong? I seem to be unable to adjust the size through the UV editor.
Alright I found the problem for anyone wondering. I used the landscape plugin as my plane, and for some reason texturing does not work on those planes (would love to understand why). Using a regular plane now and it works like a charm
Can someone please help me in fixing addon error issue because its not getting visible in addons panel even after installing and pasting manually in scripts folder of blender.
Maybe I haven't found it yet, but do you have any tutorials going over optimization for rendering still images and animations? Or where it's better to use the CPU over the GPU?
I don't know why but for some reason the link to download the files won't work. It either won't load or says the site is unsafe. Am I the only one having this problem?
@@James_Films Yes it is just fine, as i am a beginner i want to learn quick and simple artwork stuff and then progress to advanced stuff so having a Playlist with simple to advanced tutorials really helps. When I do the ctrl+shift+t and select the files for the principled texture setup, the nodes appear but there's only a color change in the texture view, there's no image or texture applied (apparently). Someone knows how to fix it?
Solved! Before importing the texture images with principled texture setup you must select the plane and in edit mode select "U", and then Unwrap. Then you can import textures with principled texture setup without any problem.
