Exactly. Nearly all channels show how to can or dehydrate but not how to cook it. This makes trying to do it worthwhile since upon can see the outcome of that labor

I recently started canning and just found your channel. What makes your videos so special and different from the rest I’ve seen, is that you actually show how to use the canned items in meals. Also, you are adorable and need a television show….I cannot wait to see more videos!

Hi Robin! Congratulations on your new canning journey!!!! I am so happy for you because it’s truly a game changer in taste, food security, and control over what goes in and stays out of your food (along with creating your own convenience foods)! Im so glad you find the meal ideas helpful. When I started canning a few years back I always wondered “Is this recipe gonna be worth canning?” because it was hard for me to imagine how I would use my pantry. I’m so happy you don’t mind my quirks (I’m harmless, I promise)! I’m in two canning collars this month so I’ll post those videos within 2-3 days of each other next week. Thanks for saying hello and I’ll see you around the channel!

I just canned Maple Onion Jam (i call it a relish) and I was looking for a recipe for caramelized onions so i started searching RUclips for recipes. I know I’ve been subscribed to your channel for sometime but for some reason you never show up in my ‘suggested’ videos…. When i couldn’t find something i was content with a friend said ‘what about that channel called Becoming a Farm Girl? I get a lot of recipes from her channel.’ I’m subscribed to so many channels that unless they show up in my searches I tend to forget some even exist!! Well, I’m commenting to let you know I have found you…. AGAIN!…. And i will not forget again lol. Absolutely love you’re style and now i get to watch all the videos I’ve been missing out on. Keep up the great work ❤️

Hi Cassandra, thank you for the inspiration. Last week a local grocery store had bags of onions buy 2 get 3 free. I couldn't resist the sale. They sat on my table for 2 days before I realized that I had now purchased 15lbs of onions for $5. It's just my husband and I and I had no idea what to do with them all. French onion soup came to mind and your recipe. I spent my whole Saturday canning up 10 quarts of your tasty onion soup. Thank you so much for your videos, advice and thrifty ways!!!!

The meatball meal sounds amazing!! Most cultures don’t have designated breakfast foods like we do in America so the soup for breakfast is quite normal around the world. It sounds very wonderful. Thank you for this. I did not realize there was a tested pressure canned onion soup recipe out there. I'm making some now out of the last of last falls' home grown onions that were on the verge of sprouting! Note the directions on your website skip a few steps. The onions are cooked, covered, until well softened, and THEN cooked uncovered to caramelize for at least 30 minutes (up to an hour) more. And the wine is divided. The first 2 cups is added to the onions at the beginning, the last cup after they have caramelized. (I found a different write up of the same recipe online. Probably no biggie either way, but your write up ingredients say "divided" and then you don't divide it ;-). ). I have an old Cooks Illustrated recipe for French onion soup that I love, that includes a bay leaf, some parsley and a tbsp of balsamic vinegar, so I included those things. I agree that a mix of onions is more interesting. Excited to have this on my shelf.

@@BecomingaFarmGirl I bought 40 lb of yellow onions and 20 lb of red onions a few weeks ago with the purpose of making and canning more sweet onion jam and pickling onions for condiment. I will go pick up a couple more bags so that I can add this and make an entire weekend of nothing but onion cutting and preserving. There will be no fear of vampires for me for a while after cutting up that much onion!!

Hello Na'arah! No, you didn't miss the meatball recipe. My blog shares the canning recipe with general recommendations on meals you can make. This is because I generally cook with what I have on hand, but, more folks are asking me to get specific with sharing my recipes so my more recent videos and canning blogs have started to provide more in depth recipes.

Hi Clory! It's always good to see you. I picked it up at a local grocery chain called, "Mom's Organic Market"-but they are also are amazon. I love them because it doesn't stain, washes well, can be frozen, and I can dump portions into bags I already have in the freezer. Here's the link:amzn.to/3Ij0A67.

Hi Marilyn! I was totally you a few years ago. Give yourself time to continue to watch other canners here on YT, check out recipe books, and after a while, you'll know when you're ready to make the leap! As long as you have an approved recipe and equipment that's in good condition, you can't go wrong and its so, so SO easy!

Hello Farm Girl, I've been watching you for a while and I super in love with your channel. Some questions and am a little worried and what I want to do. I hope you can give me some insight. I hope you are having a wonderful and blessed day. Questions for you. I made some fetuttice with mushroom and seafood sauce. and also some other great beans with neckbones. I made a lot and I want to dehydrate them both. I am a little afraid of the mushroom seafood sauce because saute the onions and mushroom with ghee, can these be dehydrated without being worried about botulism? or are they going to be Rancic? And also I want to store them in mason jars. Please help! Thank you so much, sending Colorado Love.

Hi Carlissspices! Thanks for saying hello! First-what you prepared sounds delicious! One of the enemies of food preservation are fats and oils, so if you’ve already added sauces and butter it won’t dehydrate (fats don’t dehydrated at all so it will oxidize and go rancid) Always dehydrate your veggies plain and add the fixings later. Does this make sense? A channel called “The Purposeful Pantry” is a great reheating resource!
