I’ve had reconstructive surgery in my pelvic region including bowels and I really need the handicap stall sometimes because if I need to go I NEEEEED to go, like yesterday. And I would rather not soil or pee myself in public. So thanks to the people out there recognizing both visible and invisible disabilities! 🙏🏼❤️ you are amazing ❤
Thank you for doing this video, it was very informative. It's people like you who make society more comfortable talking about disabilities instead of just awkwardly trying to figure out how to navigate this sensitive situation.
I agree, You definitely should never shame someone seemingly ablebodied for using a handicap amenity of any sort! I have cerebral palsy and periventricular leukomalaysia, but I happen to not need the disabled stall. But I do need and use disabled seating on public transport if nothing else is available. I cannot stand on a moving bus and have severe chronic pain. Once, on a very bad day for me- I was in more severe pain that day due to the cold weather, I got on a full bus and sat in the disabled seat. A 60-ish yo woman got on and demanded the seat bec I’m “young and healthy” and I refused. I got labeled “disrespectful and part of an entitled generation” by all the surrounding people, which I quietly tried to ignore. They all shut up when I got up at my stop and limped off the bus. It was absolutely humiliating and I still get angry and embarrassed when I think about it. Don’t judge if you don’t know.
I am curious how you keep such a positive attitude. How do you not keep yourself from being so upset...you are so new to your injury I'm curious how you cope mentally.
I’m not positive all the time, I think the last time I cried about something related to my injury was last night! But a lot of times I just have to trust that there’s a reason this has happened! And I know there’s a lot of other people other there going through the same things, it’s just that not all of them make videos about it 😂
It's always good to have a sense of humour and be aware of fellow disabled people around you, and you are right about people it's not ok to bend down to speak to anybody slowly it's really not ok some people are badly educated about disability I have gone through it myself the way I dealt with it I asked not to do because it's not necessary
Great Q & A, I’m not an SCI patient but am disabled for other reasons and wish more people had your good sense / sensitivity to people who will never be able to walk normally again. Some people just don’t understand and think they are helping
Very interesting and informative video :) Can you show us what your daily life is like as a paraplegic? Like things you have to adapt to and still struggle with
This is a Very Good Video, You are right about the word "crippled". It has a real negative vibe which causes people to have their spirts broken and go through a state of depression. Believe me, i know it's like to go through the negative vibes and go through the depression. But it doesn't mean i can give up that easily. I managed to come out strong, and sometimes i go through the emotions. But that doesn't stop from achieving my goals. For you(with very much respect🙏✊✌) you really came out strong, and done the impossible. Even though it sucks being in that situation, but you can still do the impossible. Do things that no other person can do. Always be proud of who you are. You have my full support💪💪💪💪✌✌✌✌✊✊✊✊♥♥❤❤. Keep Striving and Stay Positive. You Got This👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
About the second question, unless there are a language barrier(the standing person or the wheelchair user have some level of deafness, or there is a very loud sound nearby that you need to get closer to the wheelchair user to hear them and vice versa) or you of the two is trying to show some image or video or something in this matter, I think it's unnecessary to bend down.
the biggest question was not asked .. up until now : is it possible for you to feel anything *DOWN THERE*, meaning : your special nether regions ... can you get excited? Can you race to the finish-line?
I have a complete SCI at t11-12 as well. Complete is the operative word. There is no function or sensation below the injury. That includes "down there".
@@strength350 thank you for your reply ... one additional question, if you want to answer it : did your accident also "deactivate" your sex drive? If it didnt : how do you manage to cope?
Hey girl! Love your videos and love that you shared all this stuff. As a fellow Christian, I think it would be beautiful if you could share your testimony around your faith with respect to the accident. I know a lot of people struggle with faith and life-changing injuries. ❤❤
I’m not paraplegic but I’m going through a difficult time and your strength was very inspiring.

Haha yes or just avoiding them at any or all costs because they’re not sure what they should do! 😂

car accidents are awful. I'm sorry that happened :(

Yeah, probably! Thank you for the idea!
@@ParaTara You're welcome :) There are so many things you could demonstrate
Ma’am, you have a beautiful soul, I thank our lord Jesus you are still with us. The world needs you.
Also, thanks for the info.
If I have to go and all of the other stalls are occupied, I’ll use the handicap stall 10/10 times. Without thinking twice about it.

I hardly want to drive a car half the time anymore.
