This song is beautiful and a magnificent hommage to Kalinka, but, I can't help to wonder what this would have looked like if the had chosen Korobeiniki instead. (I know that Korobeiniki isn't really the same thing as tetris theme A, but, since they usualy only take the core of a song and then ad their own creation on top of it, it would probably have been something closer to the tetris theme than to korobeiniki) (Sorry about my english)
I think that this song (English name is "Song of the Volga boatmen") appears in Civilization games too much often. It was theme of Russia in Civ1, Civ2 and Civ4 (Peter, Stalin)

Peter was first crowned as a Tsar. He only became the Emperor of Russia in 1721, and I would think that Peter's depiction in here is meant to represent him during his most active years, as in, about between the Grand Embassy (from which he brought a lot of experience back home) and the end of the Great Northern War. Probably even just after Poltava, when he has already defeated the Swedish Empire on land and is building the fleet to do the same to them at sea. He only was an Emperor for about 4 years, while he was a Tsar for almost 40. So it would be quite correct to call him a Tsar. Much unlike Catherine, who's never been a Tsarina (it isn't even a real title!), but has been an Empress.
i think rather call it novaya russia, just call it Russian Federation, while Modern and Atomic is Soviet Era. Industrial still technically under Russian Empire era
It's partly based on Empire Earth's Russian campaign for the name Novaya Russia. Leninist represents the last days of the Russian Empire, while the Russian Empire era represent the period of expansion into Siberia.
@@chewxieyang4677 you can't compare fictional stuff from empire earth into civ 6 thought. Why I said industrial era is still Russian empire because in civ6 industrial era technology is similar on the time when industrial revolution happened. It was like 1800's tech. Use of coal powered machinery.
I think the Atomic Era version is a perfect reflection of Russia's modern era. It starts off dark and ominous as the Soviet days, though eventually that subsides in a downwards spiral (fall of the Soviet Union), making way for the choir portion which initially is a bit grim before turning majestic and hopeful (reflecting Russia in the 90's and early 2000's). Eventually though, as the choir falls away, the old, ominous melody starts to return at the end, a reflection of Putin's Russia?

Kirov reporting
By the comments, I was expecting something heavy and dark, but Russia's atomic is as beautiful and meaningful as (most) the other OSTs in the game.
Among my favorites are Kong, Korea, Georgian. Each one of them is capable of bringing me a different sensation.

Atomic: You may not believe that it was the BGM who declares the war!
Очень красиво, понравилось)
I downloaded the game today and the only thing i could think about was how Peter looks like Matt Mercer
This whole theme actually made me remember Eren from AoT. All Seasons do resembles the music intensity. Finally it becomes so dark like him, it feels now its going to wreck havoc.
No hardbass?
They should've done that for the Atomic era. Missed opportunity imo

(Forgive me great leader for correcting you)
Wtf this is Kalinka how did you make it sound menacing and big ?
This is some great music. I love it.
One of the best BGM in Civ6
This song is beautiful and a magnificent hommage to Kalinka, but, I can't help to wonder what this would have looked like if the had chosen Korobeiniki instead.
I am sure they would have easily made the best (kind of) Tetris Theme A remix. (I know that Korobeiniki isn't really the same thing as tetris theme A, but, since they usualy only take the core of a song and then ad their own creation on top of it, it would probably have been something closer to the tetris theme than to korobeiniki)
(Sorry about my english)
It works really well with Kalinka because it's traditionally performed with the increasing pace like here. They had great source material here.
I feel bad for what happened to Romanov
holy shit it really turns soviet when u hit industrial revo- i mean era doesent it?
Industrial sounds like one of the great Russian composers. Atomic is straight up Soviet.
J. Jonah Jameson How does it sound Soviet?
Yet, I wish to hear Ei ukhnem as russian theme.
It might sound something like the orchestrated instrumental by Glazunov, Stenka Razin: Symphonic Poem in B minor, Op 13.
I think that this song (English name is "Song of the Volga boatmen") appears in Civilization games too much often. It was theme of Russia in Civ1, Civ2 and Civ4 (Peter, Stalin)

Not bad, but I think, the "Polushko Pole" for Russia will be better.
I don't think so, this is an old song, but "Polushko pole" is from communist era. (If I'm not wrong)
Uniban Black You are correct. In fact, if Polyushko Poyle was to be used, then Civ would've had either Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Antropov or Gorbachev as Russia's leader. (Both Lenin and Stalin had their turn)

There's a version of this song from Origa that is more peaceful and neutral. It would work very well as Russia theme.

Well, yeah, that''s because they're the same song. The Tetris theme is actually a Russian folk song.

Never really liked the russian culture, BUT beyond any doubt this soundtrack does put their culture in an epic coating. Nicely done!
Having an anon profile picture and saying that is a contradiction. I suggest actually reading up on Russian social culture and why they hate big brother and the government in general.

All who say "Tsar Peter" please do not upset the Romanovs.
Peter 1 is not a Tsar! After Peter, Russia became an empire and all the rulers of the emperors, although they were called the king, for example, Nicholas 2, but this was not the main title.
And these are all the titles of Peter the Great - Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia, Moscow, Kiev, Vladimir, Novgorod, Tsar of Kazan, Tsar of Astrakhan, Tsar of Siberia, Sovereign of Pskov and Grand Prince of Smolensky, Prince of Estonia, Livonia. Korelsky, Tver, Ugra, Perm, Vyatka, Bulgarian and others, the Sovereign and Grand Prince of Novgorod the Nizov land, Chernihiv. Ryazan. Rostov, Yaroslavl, Beloozersky, Udora, Obdorsky, Kondian and all Northern countries are the ruler and Sovereign of the Iversky lands, the Kartala and Georgian Kings, and the Kabardian lands, Cherkasy and Mountain Princes and other hereditary Sovereign and Holder. Yes, he was tsar, but his main merits and reforms occurred when he became emperor. Tsar's appeal was colloquial
By the way, here is the full title of Nicholas 2 - the emperor and autocrat of All-Russian, Moscow, Kiev, Vladimir, Novgorod; king of Kazan, king of Astrakhan, king of Poland, king of Siberia, king of Tauric Chersonesos, king of Georgia; Sovereign Pskov and Grand Duke Smolensky, Lithuanian, Volyn, Podolsky and Finland; Prince of Estland, Livonia, Courland and Semigalsky, Samogitsky, Bialystok, Korelsky, Tver, Ugra, Perm, Vyatka, Bulgaria and others; the sovereign and the Grand Duke of Novgorod of the lower lands, Chernigov, Ryazan, Polotsky, Rostov, Yaroslavl, Belozersky, Udora, Obdorsky, Kondi, Vitebsk, Mstislavsky and all northern countries; and the sovereign of Iversky, Kartalinsky and Kabardinsky lands and regions of Armenians; Cherkasy and Gorsky princes and other hereditary sovereign and possessor, sovereign of Turkestan; Norwegian heir, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, Stormarn, Ditmarsen and Oldenburg.
Unique Era names for Russia:
Ancient: Rurik
Classical: Kievan Rus
Medieval: Tsardom
Renaissance: Russian Empire
Industrial: Leninist
Modern: Stalinist
Atomic: Post-Stalin
Information: Novaya Russia
No...for the information era you should call it Putin's Empire era...
Novaya Russia represents the New Russia period, which ranges from Yeltsin to Putin.
i think rather call it novaya russia, just call it Russian Federation, while Modern and Atomic is Soviet Era.

12:52 For when you Rush B really hard
I think the Atomic Era version is a perfect reflection of Russia's modern era. It starts off dark and ominous as the Soviet days, though eventually that subsides in a downwards spiral (fall of the Soviet Union), making way for the choir portion which initially is a bit grim before turning majestic and hopeful (reflecting Russia in the 90's and early 2000's). Eventually though, as the choir falls away, the old, ominous melody starts to return at the end, a reflection of Putin's Russia?
Doesent matter of any our leaders, we always have hard times.
