      The average Asgardian is stronger than your standard human. In the comics, they are not as strong on Midgard (Earth) as they are on Asgard (though still stronger than your run-of-the-mill human). Thor is especially powerful for an Asgardian. First, because he's Odin's son. Second, in the comics anyway, his mother was believed to be Gaia an Elder God of the Earth, which was explained as an attempt by Odin to have a son that would maintain his level of power regardless of whether he was in Asgard or not. More recently though, the comics have introduced the idea that the Phoenix Force is Thor's true mother (if you want to take it at its word). At any rate, Thor is freakishly powerful even among Asgardians.

      Thor's not a "Funny Character"...but I believe the Producers realized (especially after Ghostbusters) that Chris Hemsworth has great comedic timing and steered into it. So far Thor really hasn't had a great on screen personality, But making him Bombastic, Overconfident and Charming, grafted a Character onto Hemsworth that he can play. Kinda like Drax in "Guardians of the Galaxy". Being Unfiltered, Bombastic and Boundaryless is not how the character is in the comics, but it's something that Dave Bautista had a hand in crafting as an actor. Same goes for Chris Hemsworth's Thor.

    To answer your question. all Asgardians are strong, however the Royal Family members are far stronger than the run of the mill Asgardian. so its,
    1. Royal Family(Thor, Odin, Loki, Hela)
    2. Soldier class(Heimdall, Valkyrie, The Warriors Three, Lady Sif)
    3. Regular Asguardian citizens.

    There are 3 types of Asgardians:
    1) Gods/Goddesses: These are the ones who have a far extended life span (4000-5000 years+), increased stamina/strength/healing, as well as the gift of seiðr (the magic of Asgard). This includes Thor, Odin, Frigga, Loki, Heimdall, etc. Frigga shared her magic with Loki when he was a boy, and since Frost Giants have extended life spans, this elevated him to a God status on Yggdrasil.
    2) Long-Lived: These are people who have a much longer life span (3000 or so years), but do not have seiðr. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three, and probably around 15-20% of Asgard's population fall under this category.
    3) Mortal: Asgardians who have no seiðr and live a normal span of years (around a century). While they are closest to humans in lifespan, all Asgardians are trained in combat and are somewhat harder to kill than a human.
    I hope that helps explain. :)

      @crispychrissy 2 года назад +1

      @@Cream-2128
      I'm going by strictly the MCU Asgardians and my knowledge of Norse mythology.
      In Dark World, Odin says they are not Gods (meaning immortal), they live and die just as humans do. Loki replies "Give or take 5000 years." To me, that translates to 5000 years plus the average life of a human, which is 100 years tops usually. So 5100 years +/- an extra 300. In the same movie, they talk about the last convergence 5000 years prior, and Odin wasn't alive, it was his father Bor that battled Malekith.
      So the lifespan of the God-level ones is probably around 5000-5500 years. The average Asgardian does not have a place on Yggdrasil (legit is called "the tree of life", which provides the Gods their magic/extended life) unless they are one of the lucky ones born with only enough magic for an extended life span through random occurrence or genetics. But even then, it's not near the 5000+ years of the Gods.

    • @crispychrissy
      @crispychrissy 2 года назад

      @@Cream-2128 The movies aren't right or wrong, they're just different from the comics... which isn't a bad thing. Like I mentioned, my conclusions come from the MCU and Norse mythology alone since Rico is asking for information specifically based on what he's watching in the movies. Interjecting comic book lore and information into what I was explaining has no relevance. You are mistaken on a few things, though.
      1) Odin explains that they are not gods, as in omnipotent and immortal, which is correct. They are gods to their people due to their power, longevity, bloodline, and place on Yggdrasil... not gods like the singular monotheistic God of faiths like Christianity and Judaism, so don't get your pantheons twisted.
      2) Loki is the one who says "give or take 5000 years" in response to what Odin said, not Odin himself. It's where I got the basis for my general range of their lifespans. Sure, Odin might have already been born back when Bor fought Malekith, but it's pure conjecture on both our parts since we will likely never know. Either way, it does fit into my explanation that he was either not born yet or very young.
      3) Thor was obviously being sarcastic when he said Odin killed Surtur "like, half a million years ago", so if you can't see the humor in Thor poking fun at a bored, immortal demon, I'm not sure what to tell you.

    Brilliant reaction guys, as always :D
    To answer some of the questions:
    Everyone on Asgard is a god so they are all really strong. But some are stronger than others, most of those become guards and warriors. Since they're based off of Norse Mythology, most of the people on Asgard have individual powers of their own, like some people on Asgard have powers of Growth and Song and things like that. So Thor has always had those powers he has now, he just used to channel them through his hammer, but now he's grown to a point where he doesn't need an object to control it.
    Fun facts:
    In original Norse Mythology, Hela and Fenrir (the Wolf) were actually Loki's Children, but Odin feared their roles in Ragnarok so he sealed them away in different ways. He threw Hela back through time and locked her in Helheim (what we call Hell) a realm which was named after her in their time but she named herself when she was sent back through time. Loki also has 4 other children, one of which is a sea serpent called Jormungandr, which is so big that it is wrapped around our Earth , and when it wakes up it signals Ragnaroks beginning. He has an 8-legged horse named Sleipnir which was actually in Thor one, when Odin comes to rescue them from Jotunheim. The other two kids Odin tortures/kills to get back at Loki for helping cause the death of another Asgardian.
    Also, yes, the Vikings who worshiped the Norse Gods are primarily from Norway and Scandinavia, so that is where Asgard would technically be set in our world back then.

      Ultron isn't Asgardian, for example
      Thor was alright in the first movie, but they failed to give him the balance between seriousness and asgardian-like comedy, resulting in him being overserious in Thor 2 and a clown in Thor 3

    Everything on this movie just clicks - the comedy of course, but the action is exactly what it needs to be, the world building (Sakaar), the characterization for old & new characters alike, the performances were gold, and the pacing is some of the best I've seen in the MCU. It's easy to forget how much ground they cover in one film, without it feeling jarring or incoherent. It all really works.
