    Dwayne Johnson was extremely sexualised in the movie but no one bats an eye because he's a man.

      The original had allen parrish return home to his original age. The kids hadn't been born yet. When he meets them again at his christmas party they have their parents alive and they don't kniw allen....because time was rewound when allen returned home. Same thing should have happened here. We should have gone back to the reality of Alex not the teens

    What is WRONG with this generation?! You don't have to SEE or HEAR of Fridge learning his lesson to know that he learned his lesson. It was obvious at the beginning he didn't like hanging out with the dork, he just tolerated him so he could get his homework done, then at the end he genuinely enjoys his company, this SHOWS that he has had a change of heart, you don't need to make a "we all learned from our experiences" montage.

      There was that scene, where Bravestone was too scared to go down the path. Because he only had one life. And he tells him we've always had just one life, and it's about what we do with it that counts. That shows that he's learned what's important.
      During that same scene Bravestone tells him he's a good friend. Just the look on his face let you know that he realizes he hasn't, but he's going to change that. And so when he makes a point of hanging out with him at the end of the movie or proves the point.
      There were a lot of subtle nuances in the movie that let you know they worked it out. Men in general are not known for verbalizing how they feel, but showing it through their actions.

    God, the first one has him playing a PlayStation. The console that uses the Jumanji game is seen being hooked up. He wasn't playing the console, it was just sitting in the corner of his room while he was playing the PlayStation and then he swapped them out after he discovered the Jumanji cartridge. Even a kid would have caught that!

    I'm sorry, but I have a wardrobe full of iron maiden t-shirts and I most defiantly remember using the phrase "gettin' jiggy with it" excessively in the late 90s. na na na, na, na-na, na.

      Thank you I'm not the only one who thought that lol even though I was a kid in the 90s i vaguely remember loving metal posters and shirts and such wasn't old enough to say any slang though

    • @marcusdupee4511
      @marcusdupee4511 6 лет назад +4

      Yeah, but as I pointed out in a different comment only Vanilla Ice fans would go slang overboard like he did. Also? Your 'na's indicate that you said 'getting jiggy with it' due to Will Smith's song, which they accurately point out came out a year after the kid went missing. The looper in that logic is just that getting jiggy was a thing before the song (duh)

    • @leafwhite6376
      @leafwhite6376 6 лет назад +4

      I never used that phrase, but I distinctly remember several of my friends saying it. Looper's writers should learn a bit about something before they open their dumb, fat mouths.

    you totally missed the nod to the movie, " The Breakfast Club" when you have 4 kids a jock,a nerd, a self absorbed girl, and a shy geeky girl getting detention, and by the end of the movie have have come together as friends with their own self awareness.This by the way was also way off target in the timing by a little more than a decade as "The breakfast Club" came out in 1985. this was huge in my opinion as The Breakfast Club was such an iconic pop culture movie of that time period. Can't believe you missed something so blatant obvious.

    Wait he had a PS1 hooked up that doesn't mean the jumanji console was what he was playing so that means the controller we saw later at school didn't magically change it was just for a different machine.
    It was clearly on a shelf not connected to anything, people do that with older consoles ya know lol.

    All I can think of for the last thing is that Alex likely donated the TV and the console for the sake of the others finding it and, like "Back to the Future", things DID change for the others, but they lived in the prior timeline and thus weren't around during the other differences

    one thing I read is worrying about whether or not you are happy is a recipe for being sad. happy people are too busy to worry about whether or not they are happy. most people do not work in the field they went to school for, other avenues open up. life is not a pass or fail exam, it is a journey.

    The darker implication with Alex is that the movie really says that the world goes on with or without any one of us and ultimately each individual life is inconsequential and we are all expendable and our lives are ultimately meaningless. It's a nihilistic message of despair and existential crisis. I love it.

    Well here is one thats on topic.
    In the very beginning of the film, the board game, jumanji, was found on the beach in the sand. Sound familiar? Because in the older movie, the film ended with the board game washing up on a beach, partially buried in the sand. Thats something kids wouldn't notice.

    That time travel thing does make sense. It's more ludicrous to believe one small thing would have a major impact than to believe a proportional response in time relevant to the event that took place. Everyone isn't so special as to that whether or not they existed in the world would have an extreme impact. While some aspects of a butterfly effect would take place, it's reasonable for the events to not effect a whole lot in the movie.
    Just because Alex didn't disappear in the end timeline doesn't mean another kid didn't disappear due to something unrelated to jumanji that would bare a similar effect on the town.

    • @IzWarped
      @IzWarped 6 лет назад +2

      That's not how it worked in the original Jumanji, so I doubt it's like that here. At least it shouldn't be.
      The timeline should've been rewritten from the point of Alex getting sucked into the game.

    • @LazyOily
      @LazyOily 6 лет назад +5

      There are hundreds of children missing in the US. Alex was just one more, and didn't single-handedly cause the whole American culture, where parents are always afraid someone is gonna take their children. And if he is just a regular fellow who doesn't amount to much in his lifetime, it doesn't really matter all that much if he goes missing or not. Most people are truly important only to their families and a few close friends. The rest of the world does just fine without us.

    • @apemanolly
      @apemanolly 6 лет назад +2

      apemanolly I disliked how there was poor continuity with the way the first movie ended. Time reset back to when the game initially started and the rest was rewritten.

    This video didn't mention one of the biggest problems of the film. Jumaniji seems to be a co-op adventure. Throughout the movie, there were several times when only a specific avatar or combination of avatars could succeed at a particular task to move the adventure forward. If that's the case, then how could Alex have progressed to the half-way point of the game?
    Yes, the film established that he loves playing video games in his room all day and night. He can do well on his own. However, if only certain people can read maps or NPCs will only deliver information to specific avatars, then Alex couldn't have progressed far into the game.
    You might try to say that Jumanji modifies itself according to the number of people that chose to play. (There's no such thing as a 5-player video game console, btw.) But if that was the case, then Alex wouldn't have been stuck for 20 years. There would have been a way for him to acquire the helicopter and finish the game without the other avatars.
    NOTICE: I got a ton of responses. I wrote a general reply to everyone. Look for "UPDATE 4 EVERYONE" down in the thread. Thank you. Be excellent and party on.

      I think each one of them can play solo and can move to the half-way point but it will take way longer just like Alex playing for 20 years.
      I mean like you can have no map or run slow like Moose etc but it will take you longer going to the half-way point.
      When four of them got into the game, they have specific tasks like what you've said. But those tasks was for them to lead to Alex point.
      And it's much faster since its four of them helping each other.
      But they can't finish the game however fast they are if they're not a complete five. They will also get stuck at the halfway point if they didn't find Alex. I think the halfway point is the helicopter part. Without alex, they can't fly it.
      And without the other four, Alex can't sneak in because of the guards and they encourage him to fly again.

    That comment about the timetravel butterfly effect really depends on how tight knit the community is. People have this amazing ability to not care about things unless they feel like they're immediately concerned.
    When I was in high school one of the kids from the next class was kidnapped and held hostage for a few days. There wasn't much of a fuss when he disappeared, or when he returned. There was also a shop that was burgled and the owner murdered not too far from where I live, and life still goes on with little to no effect. Only the place's immediate neighbours were shaken by it.

  • @TheRangeControl
    @TheRangeControl 6 лет назад +1

    AAAAAACTUALLLLY.... The fridge was thoughtful enough to drop a bowling ball on the Jumanji gaming system (as fruitless as that may turn out to be with magic and all), in an attempt to save any other person from undergoing a life threatening misadventure.
    You say he hasn't changed. I say that he is simply understated and humble about his newfound thoughtfulness toward society and its future.
    Regarding Alex's return, his family home showed family restoration. If a person is injured and they receive a scar, some will see the scar, some will not (depending upon where it is). To presume that because they are able to go back and prevent the scar, that the WHOLE TOWN is going to magically stop what they are doing and subconsciously throw a parade out of joy because of something they are not aware of happening or have little knowledge of to begin with.
    For example if after Carter, we had not had Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama, would we be dancing in the streets, all because:
    1) We do not have Trump as a President(likely because Clinton would have never have really had a national platform outside of of screwing over Walmart employees as a board member)?
    2.) We do not have privatized prisons subsidizing police departments and lobbying politicians to funnel people to prison (often those with fewer resources, or as Hillary Rodham would call: "Super Predators) in effort to provide slave labor, among many other agenda?
    3.) Afghanistan would likely not have grown with angst due to imperialist expansive mechanisms funded against them by Iran-Contra bleed-over efforts during the 80's war on drugs filtering drug profits and splitting a portion between any communism efforts in Nicaragua, Afghanistan (in support of Bin Laden insurgency), Iranian Intelligence initiatives?
    These are a few examples of many...
    Just because things are different, they may or may not be very notable depending upon the impact had by the change.
    For the sake of argument, let's say that Einstein and Joe-the-file-clerk are both good people... though it would take a number of file clerks to impact the shaping of history like an Albert Einstein. This is no sleight against Joe. But, he as an individual simply impacted society on different scale by entire ORDERS of magnitude.

  • @AnimeOtakuDrew

    I actually have to disagree about the ending. Rather than a Back to the Future kind of ending, showing small changes to the world, this should have stayed true to the original with a similar type of ending. Remember that, in the original, once the game was finished, Alan and Sarah found themselves as children again on the same night they originally started the game. Then, as adults, they sought out Judy and Peter, who had no recollection of the game whatsoever. Similarly, Welcome to the Jungle should have followed Alex upon his return and had him meet the others in the present without them remembering anything, then he could offer them guidance on improving themselves and fixing their respective issues based on his interactions with them. Having the movie follow the present group instead while still having Alex returned to his own time creates a massive plot hole. Namely, if Alex never disappeared, how would his console and the game have even been at the school for the group to play? Presumably, in the original timeline, his father donated the items to the school when he realized Alex wasn't coming home, but in the new timeline, Alex never disappeared, so his father wouldn't have done so. Furthermore, if Alex himself donated them, it still wouldn't work because, in this new timeline, he wouldn't be inside the game to meet the others. They clearly were going for something like on the series Timeless, where the previous timeline after a change to the past is only remembered by the people who were outside of the timeline when the change occurred, but in this situation it creates too many problems. They would have done better to stick with what was already established in the world of Jumanji with regards to changes in the timeline.

    • @AnimeOtakuDrew

I got yelled at and some harsh words were said. After they saw it again, just to prove me wrong, I got an acknowledgment that I might have been right, but no apology. That was the moment I realized I had out grown some of my friends.

  • @tomcoyle9703
    @tomcoyle9703 5 лет назад

    The biggest plot flaw was something the video does not even mention: Fridge, Spencer, Martha, and Bethany would’ve had no memory of playing the game. Remember the first movie? Once The Robin Williams character returned to the 1960s, he and his girlfriend remember the game, and then they got rid of it. Fast forward to the 1990s, they meet the kids with whom they played the game, but since after winning the game, everything went back to how it was, the kids never found the game and had no memory of Alan or the girlfriend. Alex would have returned to 1996, probably gotten rid of the game, and therefore, the kids in 2016 would have never found it in the first place. They would, therefore, not even have any memory associated with the experience in Jumanji, just as the kids in the first movie.
    I still found it quite entertaining.

    While confidence problems like Spencer’s and Martha’s, and vanity issues like Bethany’s can be (unlikely but can be) changed by an attitude shift, problems like Fridge’s aren’t solved in a few minutes or over a weekend, so of course they didn’t magically get him back on the football team or his grades back on track instantly. I’d say they began helping him by having him remember Spencer is a ‘real’ person not just his geeky assistant and treating him better.

    If you had seen the movie properly, it clearly mentioned that Alex was TANSPORTED BACK TO THE TIME HE HAD ENTERED THE GAME. That means he woke up in 1996 the SAME NIGHT. That means after he came out of the game, HE DIDN'T GO MISSING AFTERALL. It's like the timeline restarted and that's why no one remembers he was missing except the kids and Alex himself.

    Wow, how could you think Fridge didn't change? He realized that football and a bad grade were not life or death concerns, which is why there was no follow up in those areas----they simply didn't matter. Back at school he approached Spencer and treated him like a friend instead of running away from him as he used to do----partly due to the realization that he, Fridge, is quite capable of accomplishing things for himself (i.e. if he can de-fang a snake he can do his own homework). He also came to appreciate seeing Spencer in a new light, even calling him "smoldering" when Spencer overcame his natural shyness to kiss the girl he liked. Fridge was even happy for him. So it may have been subtle, but Fridge definitely showed quite a lot of personal growth after his jungle ordeal.
