Awesome! Looking forward to seeing how you used the o-ring tool. Also brought up a good point on the torque plate. I think I may be looking for one here as I'm getting my B23 prepared for some 96.5mm RSI pistons. Don't think I didn't see that 16V head behind you in the beginning! I'm also using a 16V head on my B23. Love the videos in your native language and I watch them all! its just so much easier to understand in English, THANK YOU! You're doing great!

In the USA, many people called the Volvo 240 "The Swedish brick." Some people also called the 740 that. They were called that because they were square and lasted for ages. During the 1980s, the 3 toughest cars sold here were probably:
    1. Benz diesel
    2. Ford Crown Vic
    3. Volvo brick
Many Americans have doubts about turbo engines. Since cars aren't taxed on displacement, many people preferred buying larger NA engines. Also, some turbo engines weren't good. When someone is uncertain about turbo engines, I say "Volvo and Nissan figured out how to do it in the 1980s. If an NA engine can be made wrong, so can a turbo engine." The biggest key is reading your user manual and doing maintenance ahead of schedule. That in mind, there were certainly reasons to doubt turbo engines, the Mazda RX7TT and Mitsubishi Eclipse weren't very good.
9:05 This is why people should talk to their automotive machinist when having an engine rebuilt.
15:10 I do find it interesting that many engines that could take boost increase had squish chambers. I thought it was interesting that the VW
16:39 If the middle of the piston is lower than the crown, it is called a dish piston. It is when the middle is higher that it is called a dome piston. The big block Chevy engine usually had dome pistons for example.
21:40 That was probably because some variants of that engine were OHV. Eventually Volvo made a SOHC engine out of it, but needed something to fill the space the OHV cam took up. Some engines have odd quirks when there are major design updates to an existing design.

I built a similar engine recently. I can tell you the difference in using a torque plate is pretty large. If you hone the cylinders without a torque plate, they won't be round when the head is bolted up. I took measurements of my bores with and without a head torqued in place, and the difference was quite significant, I wish I could remember the numbers, but I don't. Whether it was enough to cause a functional problem, I cannot say, because I imagine the rings can adapt fairly well to an out of round bore.

I know machinists use a plate to simulate the assembled engine when honing, but I'm not sure how much difference it would make on a cast iron 4 cylinder engine like you have there. It's certainly a possibility that things will show up when you're running the compression you talked about. Thanks for thoroughly cleaning the engine before painting. It drives me crazy when I see an engine built to precise specifications only to have the builder not clean the engine fully before laying on a coat of paint. Thanks for the English. Many lazy Americans like myself only speak one language and don't speak that language very well.

I'm not sure how effective it is either, However, the Mitsubishi 4G63T is an iron block 4-cylinder. Many evo builders have torque plates for all out engine builds.
