In Oklahoma, we are trained on tornado safety at school. We also don’t have many basements because of the soil and water table being so high. We do have safe rooms, cellars, and public shelters. We also have fantastic meteorologists that give us days of warning of major events. Social events are often cancelled if there is a significant weather threat. A lot of us enjoy trying to predict the weather. We know how to make a plan and help our neighbors. The first Twister is legendary around here. I’ll probably catch this one on streaming.
As someone that sees Barns on their daily commute to work, "Farm Shed" is probably the funniest thing I've heard all year 😍

I agree wholeheartedly about how dumb they made the people who've lived their entire lives in tornado alley. I grew up in Indiana, and we had regular tornado drills in school. My parents purposely bought a house with a basement. The idea that these tornado "experts" were the only ones capable of showing these people how to survive a tornado is ludicrous!
Well said, plus the NWS would have issued warnings (chance of) before the tornado was right on top of them and the folks would have been watching their phone's radar all-the-time.
Exactly! I grew up in Missouri and knew what to do in a tornado by the time I was like 6. No one that lives in Tornado Alley would be that clueless.

Oklahoman here🙋🏾♀️. Unfortunately yes we can know a storm is coming but still continue to have events. On May 3, 1999 we had no idea a f5 was coming till it was too late. 2013 I think the last scene is based off of a tornado hit a theater with people inside and killed students in a nearby school that didn’t cancel class knowing a tornado was coming. It teared me up cause it brought back the memories of my sister losing her roof. I thought I was going to lose her.All she could do was hide in a closet with a bed mattress on her families head.

TWISTERS was so UN-realistic. 😢 The lead male is supposedly a rising RUclips star ... but hardly any cell phones are to be seen in the hands of the townspeople or other cast members. The citizens of Oklahoma are shown watching or participating in outdoor entertainments (rodeo, baseball and street festivals) blissfully UNAWARE that major storms are brewing. BELIEVE me when I say that in Oklahoma, the tornado sirens in the cities would be going off. People would not be caught off guard. The people in the age of RUclips would have cell phones out and they'd be tracking the storms. Also, cell phones would be going off with thunderstorm warnings. ⚠️ The small teams of tornado chasers would not need to warm citizens. Not impressed with the script writing.

I just watched the trailer... and thought "Oh god no. Not another disaster flick where a hunky, arrogant guy leads everyone damn near to their deaths all the while "falling in love" with his female lead. Why do these films constantly prove that men especially are not leaders. lol

As someone who lives in Texas, you would be lucky to see someone with a basement because of the soil here. Sadly, the place that SHOULD have basements, does not. 🤦♀️ And storm shelters … don’t see many of those either, so the movie sounds accurate in that sense. Lol. Being someone who has a phobia of tornadoes, it’s not okay. 😫

It's true. I don't remember any tornado sirens going off. 🙄 And the cell phones don't have any weather alerts .. despite the fact that a major plot point is that the lead male character is chasing tornadoes to develop content for his RUclips channel. 😅

Okay, I'm now convinced 🧠 the whole reason this remake exists is to renew interest/pop culture relevance to Universal Studios 🌪Twister ride 🎡🎢 at the Theme Parks. 1996 is a long time and 🎟 that ride wasn't selling anymore 😂

I just saw it yesterday, but the thing was with Ramos character was getting the data that can predict who get hit the hardest, so the guy would have the heads up on the property value before it happens.

Helping the towns that were just hit including digging people/animals out of the rubble, transporting injured people to wherever the emergency services can reach if roads are blocked, getting people who have had their homes and/or vehicles destroyed to shelters until they can find alternative housing, as well as providing food.

According to legend, James Cameron's pitch for Aliens included him adding an S to Alien and converting it into a $. That movie was a success. It seems like the pitch meeting for Twisters lacked that crucial final step.

🤣Everybody in North Texas and Oklahoma knows when a tornado is coming because the sirens go off. No dandelions needed. Good review. If she went to Oklahoma State they probably gave her a job. Scientist at OSU started the national weather whatever it's called. A lot of southern belles claiming to be related to whoever it was when we visited. My daughter chose LSU. 😂

Never understood people who go see a movie based on 1 or 2 peoples opinions/thoughts .. requesting a refund because they didn’t like it sounds ridiculous. You know.. you might actually have a fun time
Do you have AMC A List? If not it's worth it. I don't normally like to advertise but if you're someone who likes to see movies regularly it's definitely worth it. I can go see this movie and not care so much if it sucks because I'm paying a 20 dollar monthly fee that allows me to see these movies with no extra cost.

Not saying you will love it or even like it, but because I enjoyed it, I too want others to not miss out due to others bad reviews. Those shirts!!! 😂 I’m so done with you guys hahah. Love it. I just got out of seeing this tonight. For me, it was bland. The tone WAS all over the place. I agree I was disappointed/dissatisfied. I kept finding myself wanting more. More oomph from this movie. It didn’t hit for me. I kept wanting and waiting for that intense disaster effect to happen. I miss Helen hunt and Bill Paxton. I’m a huge fan of the original. So much so that I used to draw tornados on my homework when I was in middle school lmao. After I got the it of the movie I kept thinking, “why did it feel more real in the 90s?” “Why do the 90s disaster action packed movies hit better than today’s movies?” And “why don’t we use practical effects anymore? What happened to that?” Seeing the tornados in the movie - you know they’re computerized. They felt more real in the original one.
2/5 from Joseph and 1.5/5 from Nick...You both were feeling generous today after demonstrating over 33 minutes why these movies need to hire you both as script (and logic) consultants.

Glen Powell’s character was so unnecessary to the story. I thought they should’ve focused more on Kate’s relationship with Javi and the tension and emotions of how they separately dealt with the deaths of their friends. I also think Kate should’ve become obsessed with making the polymer work so she could, in her mind, make it up to her friends. Then Kate and Javi have to work together again because he has the data and she has the polymer and they find the solution that way.
You just KNOW I pictured Lisa Bonet with a duck bill… LOLOL
Anthony’s character even said “emergency services have already been called.” I didn’t understand that part. In the first movie Jo went into town to save her aunt, so it made sense… here it was done just to show the devastation even though it made no sense for those characters to do in that moment

Does anyone know what the Oklahoman accent sounds like? My mother is from Tulsa and she spent years to rid herself of that albatross of an accent after she moved to L.A. Just curious: Did Daisy Edgar Jones use an Oklahoma accent? 😂😂😂 Edit. I wrote my comment before Joseph addressed the accent issue. (24:49) 😂😂😂
Metropolitan areas like Tulsa and Oklahoma City have neutral accents much like Kansas. Eastern Oklahoma tends toward an Arkansas twang like Reba has. Rural Oklahoma can go either neutral or twangy.

I live in Oklahoma and I’m not seeing this nonsense ( didn’t like the 1st one). Our state has really been hit hard by “ twisters “ this season. Lots of destruction. Feel bad for the people.
It makes Oklahomans look stupid like we don't know how to hunker down in severe weather. The rodeos, baseball games and street festival are full of people acting like there's no reason to seek shelter until it's too late.
I was surprised by the length of the review before starting but when it was done, wished it was longer. One of your all-time best for sure. Poor Kate is devastated by the truth. 🤣

Finally an honest review , I thought this movie was all over the place and tbh the tornadoes weren’t even the main focus , seems like they were more focused on the awkward love triangle which was so cringe. The entire movie was just blehhh, it was so corny . Everyone just seems so biased over this movie and I don’t get it.
Love yalls review. Have me cracking up😂. I was thinking they were painting people in tornado alley as dumb too. But then they said that mostly all the people there in the destroyed town didn’t have insurance. They were most likely really poor and they don’t have the money to build infrastructure to withstand the tornados. Especially depending on how often that happens, might not be enough time or resources to build sound structures. And people either don’t have the money to leave or don’t want to because it’s where they are from. Also, I assumed she could get a job at a storm alert center easily because she still has a bachelors degree. I also thought that Glen seemed a little too handsome to be from oklahoma searching for storms😂😂. But I thinking that people don’t see tornados as often as the film shows them because the main characters literally chase films. I think it would’ve been hard to put those imaging devices down and wait because 1. they can’t determine where a tornado is going to happen before hand. They don’t fully understand tornados, just can gauge a lot from the damage caused. And 2. Even if they could place it there before hand, it would be swept away before it could fully integrate the storm and they had to shoot those rockets for it to work as well. Even those big windmills couldn’t withstand the storm. But I thought the movie was cool because it was really high stakes but the characters genuinely were interested in weather and cared about the towns because that’s where they are from. I personally found it scarier than long legs because real word natural disasters are crazy. That kinda death is way more ham than getting shot in the chest imo. I also thought it was unfair to put Glen against Anthony😂😂 Not on the same level and he was already rejected for her boyfriend that died before hand. They tried to make it seem like they would be together cause her late boyfriend was out the way but that was a bit ridiculous. I was entertained but I also think that this would’ve been cooler if they just took the straight scary movie route. Instead they tried to make the rom-com, suspense, and it definitely did too much. I also thought Daisy looked weird as a blond. It’s refreshing hearing you guys reviews. I literally always go to watch after I see something in theaters.

Definitely something to be shocked by for those who have never seen a twister in motion causing damage. Yet, I feel it odd for a villain angle, in the buying over land in a twister prone state...🙃A disaster movie that made you roll your eyes, like Joseph did, is not interesting😅☺

I loved the OG Twister (I was a child) and I’m a recent Glenn Powell fan, so I was kind of hoping this would be watchable

It is mind-boggling that they didn't use the original film's fantastic score by Mark Mancina or bring him back! Any filmmaker who genuinely loves the original film would know that's one of the key ingredients along with the blend of VFX and practical FX and the growling sound design that made that film work. I love Glen Powell, felt bad for such a talented cast being so wasted.

@@Neddoest De Bont knew to characterise the tornadoes as monstrous forces of nature, and even Jo's monologue later in the film about how she believes they come after people is reinforced by it. I loved this review. I think the reason Anthony Ramos was villianized because they were swooping in at their most vulnerable and offering them the minimum they could. Plus they were lying to them about the circumstances. In one scene, his partner says to a victim that the investor was his uncle.
You guys are so right about them racing eachother. Also why don’t they set the drones ahead of time instead of putting themselves in danger. You guys just poked so many holes in this film 😭. Also when they go to the towns to help. They just walk around. They have no supplies nothing
