I don't understand how you can justify paying $35k+ for a term of education.... I'm currently studying at one of the top ten institutions for performing arts in the world and the whole 4 years is free.
PLEASE talk about money (like how much you spent at ports and on extra things you bought on the ship) I really want to do this but i dont know how much EXTRA money i would need to have besides all the costs of just going on the voyage and stuff
long angry sausage you have to go to the website just look up semester at sea than it should pop up I’m pretty sure you can apply to go on the fall voyage right I’m not sure but it has all your questions
I looked it up and for the cheapest cabin you'd be spending around 35k (that's including everything but flights and hotel rooms to get to and from the boarding ports)
soumili kar girl if you really want too you can def make it happen there’s so many scholarships you can get and cheaper rooms they save near crew cabins if you can’t afford regular ones. Just communicate to your advisor and they’ll do their best to help you
I’m currently in my junior year of high school and I have no idea where I wanna go to college or what I want to study but I reallyyyy want to do SAS and thank you so much for telling me all about it and giving all of the best tips (aka berlin’s superiority). Even though I’m scared of the cost lol or not being able to actually do it I’m going to try my absolute hardest because it seems like the best experience and opportunity and yah thank you so much for telling me about it!
Same!! Me and my best friend are starting to look into this! Both of us are just a bit nervous about the cost, I know it’ll be expensive but I hope we get to go it looks like so much fun!
I really want to do Semester at Sea but is so expensive compared to Uni in Australia. My whole 4 year degree is cheaper than one semester at sea. I just don’t know how to justify the cost 😅. How did you justify it?
It’s expensive for everyone, I was going to apply for a voyage but it just is unrealistic for most families, especially when they charge you if you want to do laundry (some people literally did it in their sinks)
Dont, its just some bullshit vacation basically, theres no real focus on academics. Finish your degree and spend the money on whatever vacation you want afterwards
this makes me so emotional about my own time studying abroad (not on a ship lol). it's so true that you come home and no one understands what you've been through except the people who were with you. it's such a blessing to be able to travel!!
I honestly feel like this would only be a good experience for extroverted people..bc like I would never talk to people or make friends or talk to the staff or anything that seems like the type of thing only popular kids at my school would do (yk the type that are friends w all the teachers and are super loud and outgoing)
because of your sas videos, i saw that one of your friends goes to the university in the town i live in..i literally plan on going there and my friends and i are signing up for sas fall semester in about 2ish years! we're already talking to people about it and i'm so so excited ! we were just going to go abroad to one country but this is going to be 1000 times better i couldn't thank you enough ! you're making it sound like it's a dream and i already have a lot of plans for it and i honestly couldn't be more excited for it :)
Omg so I’m obsessed with your SAS videos and you made me want to travel to so many places!! Could you make like a blog post or something with all the places you went and what you saw/where you stayed?? Love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Emma Topp please tell us how to make it happen! the info on the website is kinda unclear to me... step by step guide, what did you have to do, did you have to have super amazing grades?
which country was your favorite on the trip? also, I get the no one else will understand thing -- when I spent 3 1/2 months traveling through Mexico it was so hard coming back home even though at first it was so great to be back. It's sort of a different kind of stages of things that no one will ever know unless they experience something like it. I live in Poland right now and miss Virginia so freaking much, but I am trying to remember when I go home I might miss it here also, so I should try to enjoy it while I can. I really love that you shared your journey with us.
emma!! do a travel recap of a montage of pictures and videos of the places that you went. also i’m dying to see more ship vlogs! i love those!! i wish you had vlogged every week lol
I looked it up on their website and for the cheapest cabin you'd be spending around 35k (that's including everything but flights and hotel rooms to get to and from the boarding ports). There are obviously financial aides you can apply for as well.
You and your story have inspired me beyond words, like the nostalgia and emotions in this video made me want to cry with you SO MUCH! I really hope to experience SAS someday (if I can afford it, girl Suite Life on Deck is EXPENSIVE) and have a semester that’s at least half as good as yours!
i've been wanting to do SAS for two years now, seeing your videos and your experiences is what i finally needed to push me to try it thank you emma xoxo
How does it feel to be at sea for so long in one room? I would love to do SAS but I'm concerned about being confined to such a small area/away from home. Advice?
samantha i think it would be totally worth it because you’re really only in your room to sleep and like get ready. the ship is huge and plus you get off a lot to do stuff :)
could you do a video on how much money you actually spent aside from the tuition? like the weeks that you traveled on your own and all the birthday cakes and strawberry pineapple smoothies lol
i relate to this on so many levels, but just not with SAS. But i do have a family and i home that i miss so incredibly much and i don't know who to talk to about it anymore because all my friends live so far away. Im glad you had the best time though :)
I don´t know how to explain how this actually discribed my current situation and how i´m feeling. I am an ex-exchange student and when i came back home i felt the same way and sandly i still feel like something is missing in my life. It is the worst feeling to say goodbye to the friends that became your family for a long time
Semester at Sea sounds like a dream, but the reason I'm hesitant to apply is because I've heard people say that cruises are terrible for the environment. It sucks because it looks so fun :/
Trying to explain a unique experience so incredible like that to other people is so difficult. In situations like that, I always think about how lucky myself & a select few others are to have experienced something so special, especially while experiencing it with each other :)
Hi Emma, I have watched you go through this experience and I just want to say I am such a big fam and this has made me want to go for my semester! Stay safe
this seems so cool but im v introverted and have a fear of being on a cruise ship but i went on a cruise ship once though and was like had a headache like everyday from motion sickness
Is semester at sea still going on even with the all the coronavirus stuff going on? Regular colleges are closing so I'm curious as to what happens to semester at sea since It's literally a college that is doing what the government is telling us not to which is travel around the world
Hey y'all! I'm that other "vlogger guy" from the video. Aka guy who knocked out part of his tooth surfing in Costa Rica. If your interested in some more SAS videos, and adventure check out my Vlog! Many more videos to come!
If you plan it right h Then you won’t have debt lol. obviously if you have three dollars to your name you shouldn’t apply for something like this. Also scholarships are something you can always do
polaroid_ people if you only have $20,000 to your name, you shouldn’t apply either. You’d have to have more than a years salary of minimum wage to be able to afford a semester at sea and about .00002% of the population of college aged kids have that much Money...

Erik van der Zanden take a look at their website, you can find all the different types of scholarships that you can apply for which would get you some money off. + I heard that some universities/colleges in the US finance a bit as well(so it’s possible that you pay ‘only’ 25% of the total voyage yourself after all), but that wouldn’t be the case in my country. She was a scholarship kid I think she got it pretty much free because of her RUclips channel. You know how she has a code? Semester at Sea has been sponsoring RUclipsrs because it promotes it 😊 But for you there are many scholarships you can apply for!
So, I’m 39- I am so jealous. I had a sorority sister (a few years after me) on the voyage that broke down and had to drift to Hawaii. I wish I had known about SAS when I was in school. I keep telling my husband we should go and take my son. But BTW, I think we have the same birthday. Is yours 10/29?
semester at sea is lowkey a dream
it feels like it didn’t happen 😳

This is literally the best endorsement I’ve ever seen, I’d run into a wall at this point to get on that ship
can we just talk about how amazing her editing is at this point
I've never been on SAS but I've learned to always choose Berlin rather than Lido HAHAHHA
Me too. hAhA
When I saw SAS my dumbass thought side angle side therUm
This is making me emotional and I didn't even go wtf
I know I got so emotionally attached to everyone on the ship I felt like crying when she left oml

I would budget out at least 10k for ports and other things
Save up 43k that’s all u will need
Please do what I bought while on semester at sea
I have been waiting for this and I’m not disappointed-this sounds like an actual dream and I wish I had the money, maybe in another life

im on the same page. im looking into college and want to find the right place but i have no idea where that is. all i know is that sas is the move
same, i’m also a junior and have no idea where i want to go or what i want to do, but SAS seems like a dream that i want to live in
I'm a junior also! I hope we all get to see each other at Semester At Sea one day! lol
Same!! Me and my best friend are starting to look into this! Both of us are just a bit nervous about the cost, I know it’ll be expensive but I hope we get to go it looks like so much fun!
Same I’m on my junior year too and the cost is a problem but I hope one day I can Go to SAS it seems like a dream.
bro semester at sea is now my dreaaammmm because of you🥺💕

I really want to do Semester at Sea but is so expensive compared to Uni in Australia. My whole 4 year degree is cheaper than one semester at sea. I just don’t know how to justify the cost 😅. How did you justify it?
On the site you can find scholarships that you can apply for! Every voyage they hand out around 2,5million dollars total to all the students
Big Chungus yeah I would take a gap year anytime over this. Plus it’s giving me too much sect like vibes. No bueno.
really really not worth it. at all.
this makes me so emotional about my own time studying abroad (not on a ship lol). it's so true that you come home and no one understands what you've been through except the people who were with you. it's such a blessing to be able to travel!!
Same. I studied in Japan and Cuba but this was a dream. I already graduated so too late.
Watching this makes me nostalgic for smt I haven’t experienced 😂
Salome Demangeot makes me nostalgic about suite life on deck
this video makes me want to have friends lol
honestly
These videos were so amazing to watch! You’ve literally lived out my Suite life on deck (Zack & Cody) dream
MjcMatthew yes this video hit nostalgia about suite life on deck
Watching this as I’m in Vietnam with SAS and I’m cryin in the club
All the best emma! U have always been my elder sister on RUclips for a long time. Just have fun and do well in college. I love you
