Here are some of the questions and answers about the semester at sea:
    1. Once you get into your room on the ship do you get to decorate it? with things like lights, curtains, and posters.
You can definitely decorate your cabin, but we don't allow adhesive or push pins to be used as it damages the walls. The door is metal, and many students like to add magnets and decorate their doors.
    2. Do you get to go on the deck at night time? or is there a restricted time?
Of course, there is no curfew
    3. How much storage space is there? is there storage under the beds?
There is a small amount of storage under the bed, and an armoire for storage.
    4. Is there anything you can do so that your trip can be fully paid for? like jobs on the ships.
Although we have work exchange programs on our ship that give tuition reduction we don't provide roles that give students a full ride.
    5. How do you get the currency type of other countries? like euros, Japanese Yen, British pound
If you have a debit or credit card you can usually withdraw money from an ATM. Some students bring cash and use a currency exchange in the country.
    6. Can you bring items to heat up food like a microwave?
For sanitary reasons and food protocol, we don't allow students access to a microwave on the ship.
    7. How hard is it to get scholarships?
60% of our students receive some sort of financial aid. Keep in mind that you must apply for
    8. Can anybody from any college go to SAS?
    Yes!
    9. Once you disembark do they just let you go? or do they help you out since it's a foreign country
Students can decide to do independent travel in-country (most go with friends onboard) or we have trips and excursions organized by Semester at Sea. I find most students do a mix of both options.
    10. Can you bring drinks?
Are you referring to alcoholic beverages or just drinks from off-ship? We have a strict no-alcohol policy. Students can bring packages of sodas/drinks on board, but we have dining halls and a place to buy beverages onboard.
    10. Are you free to roam around the ship? at any time?
    Yes, there is no curfew.
    11. How much wifi could I get if I paid for it?
I wouldn't suggest paying for WIFI as it is very expensive, and can be unreliable at sea. I know this can seem scary to be without WIFI for a couple days, but this is actually something that we get the biggest feedback from students that they enjoyed. Imagine sitting at a table with friends, and no one is glued to their cell phone?
    12. Do you have communication with the outside world? can you watch the news?
We do have a direct line phone for students to get in contact with family members or vice versa if there was an emergency, but there is not strong wifi access while at sea.
    13. What happens if there is a storm at sea?
Our ship and crew are very skilled at navigating the open waters. We have advanced technology that helps us navigate turbulent waters.
    14. Why are the number of days you spend in countries/cities not more than 3-4 days?
This changes per country, but usually it's between 3-6 days.
    15. How many vaccines do you get while the whole experience? And how much are the vaccines?
We will require the COVID-19 vaccine, and depending on which countries we visit we may require the yellow fever vaccine. Prices are determined by your insurance, and you are a primary care physician. I would suggest checking in with them.
    16. How much is the whole experience overall for the average person?
I would suggest checking out our Program Fees

It’s because until recently comments were turned off (by RUclips not her) and she just got it fixed I believe. That’s why there’s not many comments even though it was posted months ago

    How does laundry work?

    • @Sockly
      @Sockly 3 года назад

I saw in another video by Jess Horst that it's recommend to do your own laundry since it's $7 to get a small bag of laundry done by the crew and it's possible your clothes can get lost or shrunk. She also showed how to do laundry on the ship! I recommend watching!
