My $1,000 and $100 grab bags arrived and they are actually even worse than this one. The owner said he "unfortunately can't accept a return" and "grab bags aren't for everyone" because you "can't have an expectation of what will be in the bag". I offered to pay for return shipping. He didn't respond. He also said he didn't understand where I got the idea that the items would be one of a kind and not mass produced because it doesn't say they'll be one of a kind in the item description. Etsy intervened. I told them he's selling cheap crap in a "blind" format because people wouldn't pay for it otherwise. He told Etsy the items were valuable and worth the price paid. Etsy forced him to issue me a refund and he paid return shipping.
I had started filming the unboxing video I planned for the $1,000 bag but the items were very cheap, mass produced miniatures and I had to stop filming because nobody wants to see me open cheap, mass produced duplicate items. I also received imitation matchbox cars, bits of full size flowers and the worst item of all: a piece of trash plastic someone was using as a paint dish. I wish I was kidding.

Hi everyone! I apologize that this video isn't up to my usual standards. I recorded it before I bought a camera and voiceover equipment.
Also, I'm publishing this video April 1st but this is not a joke! This is what was actually in my mystery grab bag.
I purchased a mystery grab bag from Flip This Dollhouse in New Bedford in 2021. Let me know what you think about what I got.
I was disappointed enough with the contents to message the owner and ask if I received a dud or if this was typical. He said it was typical and "it says 'as is', right?" But then he decided to send me some additional items. There was a cool print with a copper frame so I appreciated that.
I was reluctant to post this video but there are people who left reviews on the Etsy shop who had similar disappointing experiences so I decided to share to give an idea of what you could find inside.
I did recently purchase the $1000 mystery grab bag and a $100 bag from Flip This Dollhouse which I expect will have great items. The owner was very generous and offered to give me extra items in the bags so I'm excited to open those on my channel.
I have been toiling away learning how to film and edit videos for RUclips. I have lots of projects planned ranging from dollhouse miniature accessories and furniture to dollhouses/dioramas in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale as well as smaller Harry Potter builds.

The worst part is this was a $100 bag that is normally marked down to $60. I got it during a once a year 60% off sale for $40. I can't even imagine paying $60 for this crap.

I messaged with photos of every I received and asked if it was typical or if I got a dud. The owner responded, "yes, it's typical" and asked, "it says 'as is, right?'" But then he offered to send me more items so he must have really thought the items did actually suck
Ohmygosh! That is awful! It looks like a bag Goodwill was throwing out as trash. Like, if a place were putting together grab bags, that is the bag of trash that was "unsellable for trash". I am so sorry. I hope you got in touch with that store for a refund! Perfect example of why people do not like to take chances on buying stuff sight unseen! Wow! 😢
I agree! I didn't try to get a refund for this one, but I tried again about 18 months later. That one was SO cheap and awful, I wanted a refund. The seller said no. Etsy forced a refund.

😆 Ridiculous! I did end up using the sticks as logs. Adding one bag of sticks to a decent bag would've been fine, but a significant portion of my $100 bag was napkins and sticks. Bro.
I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED!!! I'm glad you did this video. Another RUclipsr did one of these and she ended up with a bunch of plant pots. I think she had 4 decent items but the rest wasn't much.
Ugh, you have no idea how bad it can get. I bought a $1,000 grab bag and $100 grab bag. I got them for half off so I paid $550. The contents are literally worth maybe $100 in total. I asked for a refund and the seller said no and that "you can't have an expectation of what will be in a bag". He insists the contents are worth $2,000. It's a whole aggravating thing right now with me fighting for a refund. I'll be posting a video about the saga either way as a cautionary tale.
I have seen people open other bags of his and they were so much better than the $1100 of grab bags I got. At least they got some unique stuff. Mine were filled with essentially the same items: dollar tree glass bottles with corks, plastic pots of flowers, bottle cap pies, ring cake, cheap books. There were Mayberry Street Miniature sccessories with the $1.99 price tag cut off the corner and a $9 price tag attached. These are modern items you can get at Hobby Lobby for $1.99. Why are they suddenly worth 4.5 times more because they pass through Flip This Dollhouse's store?

It should be Flop This Dollhouse! I don't think anybody could possibly think this was a good grab bag, but the quality has gotten way worse since.

Yeahhhhh, my spirits definitely sank when I came across the Play-Doh food. Can you honestly imagine filling a bag with such crap and marking it at $100?
Thanks for sharing this, I wondered about those mystery bags but was always skeptical. I had much better luck with the mystery grab bags from my local show. They were $1 each and the stuff I got was worth more than what you got, unfortunately. I hate that you got such a raw deal but I’m so glad you shared it with us. I think the quality of Flip This Dollhouse's bags was better and then went downhill the more popular they became. I hope they're back on the upswing bc putting crap like that into a mystery bag is not acceptable. Only 7 of the items were actually miniatures and pretty much everything was "as is".
Earth & Tree Miniatures in NH has grab bags too but they're 25 cents and you can see what's inside them.

Nope! Flip This Dollhouse disappoints me. I bought a $1,000 bag a year later expecting better quality. It was SO much worth. Literally $30 worth of crap, maybe. Etsy had to force a refund. It was awful.

Awe that sucks! I feel your pain. I was shocked at the sticker prices.
That was my reaction in the store. I'm used to shopping at dollhouse store closest to me (Earth and Tree Miniatures in NH). E&T has great prices. 3,000 SQ ft packed with minis. It's the best place on earth. I was expecting that kind of magic but there were large expanses of empty shelves and crazy high prices. There was a 60% off sale but even then, the prices were too high.

Oh it gets so much worse! I bought a $100 grab bag and $1000 grab bag to compare the two. I figured Flip This Dollhouse would redeem itself. It was filled with cheap, duplicate crap. The owner, Nathaniel, refused to give me a refund even though I asked for one the very next day after it arrived and I was willing to pay to return it. I had to open a case on Etsy. I argued that Flip This Dollhouse sells cheap junk in a mystery format with no returns accepted because people wouldn't pay it if they could see what they're buying. Nathaniel said the items were worth $2,000. Etsy ruled in my favor and forced a refund. Nathaniel only gave me one refund so I'm currently working with PayPal to get the rest of my money back. Very, very bad experience.

The crazy thing is, the bags have gotten even worse! Now they're filled with plastic cakes, bottle cap pies, Dollar Tree glass bottles (that cost $1 for 6), and individual books.

Flip This Dollhouse doesn't accept returns. Very convenient. I had to have Etsy intervene and force a return.

@andreasoriginals I didn't see his website. I drove all the way to his store and was very disappointed. Earth & Tree Miniatures has everything you could possibly need to build, decorate, and accessorize a dollhouse. The prices are the best I've seen.
Flip This Dollhouse was a hodge podge of overpriced pieces and junky dollhouses Nathaniel gets for free and cheap off of local sellers.
He was selling these mass-produced chairs for $24 each. Earth & Tree Miniatures sells the exact same chairs for $8. They're supposed to be an inexpensive option.

That all looks like someone was just trying to get rid of it. I have ran across some things like that at the shows in small grab bags for 50 cents but very similar. Sorry that happened just know that not everyone does that. Have a great day

I bought two more bags over a year later and they were SO much worse. There was nothing of value in them. There duplicates of cheap, mass produced items. The seller told me he couldn't give a refund bc you "can't have an expectation" of what will be in the bag. I appealed to Etsy and they forced a refund.

I was foolish enough to think the $1,000 bag would have a better quality of items and I was very wrong. This bag was better than the $1,000 grab bag 😲 At least there was something semi-valuable in it (the broken House of Miniatures Kit mirror). The $1,000 bag had a handful of items worth about $6 but most of the items were worth $1 or less. I'm battling for a refund. The seller wouldn't accept my refund so I opened a case on Etsy. Waiting for a resolution.

Wow, that sucks! The prices marked on them are ridiculously high. Who pays $6 for three pieces of stick? Was the silverware set complete? I've gotten great results with that particular style, refining the shapes with files and sand-paper. The quilt and "clothes" are seriously embarrassing, although I suppose some people would appreciate the primitive style. I never really got that, but then I'm a professional seamstress. I would have gotten very excited by the needlework kit, but, like you, seriously let down by the incompleteness of it. Still, it wouldn't be that hard to make a frame and stand, or use the needlework, unfinished, as a "WIP". All in all, I'm glad I'm not a gambler, and never buy grab bags, as tempting as they can be.
No, the silverware set wasn't complete and a couple of the pieces were broken. That's a great idea about trying to refine the pieces. I'd love to see the outcome of that.
I was disappointed in the clothing and quilt for sure but the Play-Doh food really sank my spirits. It was the 3rd item I opened and I was seriously confused why it would be in there. I would have felt better about the purchase if it had been a grab bag of 10 items and most of the junk wasn't in there at all. I was pretty let down by the contents.
I still have the incomplete kit. I have a House of Miniatures fire screen and could use the base of that to try to complete the kit although the missing frame is a bit annoying. It will need a whole new frame. I don't do needlepoint though. I'm a bit too impatient for that.
I'm not much of a gambler either but apparently I am! I am extremely curious what will be in the $1000 grab bag and $100 grab bag. If you read the reviews on Etsy, there seem to be a lot of disgruntled buyers from 2021 but people seem happier in 2022. I think the quality of the contents went down but he's fixing it. I've seen some of the older grab bag videos and he used to do a lot better. People got a lot of duplicates and cheap, mass produced stuff but at least they were all miniatures. Only 7/25 of my items were miniatures.

It was the $25 bag. Almost all was only worth about $1. They had tickets on for $5 +. I actually contacted them. I sent pics. Nothing. I threw most away. Sad.

I'll confess I never planned to buy another grab bag from Flip This Dollhouse after what I got in this one. But it's been almost a year since the last one so I'm feeling mighty brave, I suppose. You'd think the $1,000 grab bag (I got it for $500 during their anniversary sale) will be a really good one. I'll open the $100 bag first.

I agree. This bag was an embarrassing ripoff. The quality got even worse when I tried again a year later. Etsy had to force Flop This Dollhouse to issue a refund.

The lady (that you know) with the bear and a dozen baskets and plantpots, was trying to be very positive but she did not apear very happy too.

Unfortunately it is NOT an April Fool's joke. The Play-Doh food was the item that annoyed me the most. I actually did end up using the sticks in a cool colonial brick fireplace. But of course I would have just gone outside and gotten my own sticks if I hadn't received them in this bag 😆

Free of charge. hehe and yes, the play doh food was the absolute worst, even worse than the sticks, because at least those could be used. Maybe the quilt can be used for something. Yes, I was able to glue the mirror together. I do think the clothing and quilt could be used in a little mouse house. That's cute. I am planning on making a Borrowers room box (you know, the mini people who "borrow" from humans and make their furniture from bottle caps and thread spools?) They have pretty primitive clothing. Maybe I can age them and subdue the colors (with dry brushing) and find a use for them there.

It would make sense their clothing and quilts would look like that too, because they would have had to borrow the thread and needle, which would be way too big. I'm excited to see that. I have always loved The borrowers, the Littles, Tom Thumb, Thumbelina, etc. heh

Yes, this came from Flip This Dollhouse. I went to the store in Massachusetts to shop. I bought this mystery bag for $40. It's normally $100! Then I gave them another shot over a year later and the contents were so much work. There 20+ bottle cap "pies" in one single bag and a bunch of really cheap, individual books as well as Dollar Tree glass bottles that come 8 in a pack for $1.25. The owner, Nathaniel, was a nightmare. I bought the bags on Etsy and he refused to give me a refund. I told Etsy he's selling cheap crap in a mystery format bc you wouldn't buy it if you could see what you were looking at. He defended himself saying you can't have an expectation of what will be in the bag and that the junk I received was worth over a thousand dollars. Etsy sided with me and forced a refund.
Also, the prices were crazy, even during a 60% off sale. They were selling mass produced, cheap chairs for $20. Earth & Tree Miniatures in Amherst, NH sells the same chairs for $7 each.

Yes. I got into a huge drama with the owner on Etsy. He argued that he couldn't accept a refund. I argued that he sells cheap crap in a "mystery bag" format bc people wouldn't buy it if they could see what they're spending their money on. Etsy sided with me and forced a refund.

That's from that store of that name? Saw a tour of the store and it looked sort of nice, saw another person get a grab bag but they mostly got decent stuff, at least their money's worth. But I read a lot of comments from people who said their grab bags are just junk and not worth it. He literally seems to throw away junk inventory through these grab bags. I'm so sorry
Yep. Flip This Dollhouse. It seems to me the bags gained popularity and traction through RUclips and the quality went way down. The most recent reviews on Etsy have been good so maybe it's getting better. It's still not worth it for most people. Just spend your money buying what you want and need rather than risk getting a bunch of junk.

I think you handled yourself well, because I would have been very upset. And he doesn't accept returns? Does he understand that a little thing called "word of mouth" can mean ruin? Thank you for posting this. I won't take the chance in a grab bag, and I certainly won't support this person's channel.
"Audacity" is a great word. I bought two new bags from him to compare the quality of each bag and they were SO MUCH worse than this one! They had tons of duplicates of cheap stuff. I asked for a refund the day I received them and offered to pay return shipping and he said no so I had to open an Etsy dispute. Etsy ruled in my favor and made him give me a refund and pay for return shipping. He is selling cheap crap in a "mystery bag" format because nobody would ever pay that amount if they could see what they were buying.

It was so annoying. He only gave me one refund after Etsy made their decision. I had to do a PayPal dispute to get the other refund because he was ignoring my messages 🙄
Wow. I don't mean to be rude, but I think I'd even be choked if I paid 5 bucks for the lot. It's almost insulting that they are passing that stuff off as miniatures. Absolute garbage.

I kept this one but returned two more bags I bought a year later. Etsy had to force a refund bc Flip This Dollhouse refused. They should the name to Flip Off Your Stupid Customers 😆

Absolutely! I visited the store in real life and the owner, Nathaniel, was talking about how he spends days a week shopping bc selling miniatures is so lucrative. Terrible.
