I mainly buy and use gedore made in germany my dad and grendpa had gedore for over 50 years the were heavy equipment mechanics gedore is my favorite tool brend
I always prefer 6 point to 12 point/bi-hex, bi-hex is more likely to round nuts and bolts off and if one has been rounded off a 6 point is more likely to get it off.
OMG, a comment on a video of mine! I promise, channel isn't dead. Maybe going a different direction though (more focusing on repairs). I have some stuff filmed, just have to edit and combine clips.
Thanks for the comparison. That's a shame about Stahlwhille going to plastic cases. Considering how much the Stahlwille sets cost I would think they would go all out on the details. I have a Craftsman socket set from the 90s in a plastic case and the latches have just about fallen off from using it so much, which is a problem with most plastic socket cases. The thickness difference in the sockets is most likely due to Stahlwille using a better alloy that allows them to use the thinner walls. What is the price difference between the two sets?
I'll have to do an updated video soon - I finally got one of the new plastic cases in, and they are better than this interim plastic case that Stahlwille offered.
+German Tool Reviews , You wrote: "The thickness difference in the sockets is most likely due to Stahlwille using a better alloy that allows them to use the thinner walls." Gedore can certainly machine their sockets to the same dimensions as the Stahlwille, Hazet, etc., regardless of what alloy they may be using. The way I see it is that the two companies serve different segments of the mechanical trades. Gedore caters more to the heavy industries, while Stahlwille caters more to the aeronautical industries. Hence, the working environment, and demands can be quite different. BTW, TheRacerRich, the core difference between the Gedore and Stahlwille sockets is that the Gedore is hot-forged; Stahlwille is cold-forged. The cold-forged process is how the majority of sockets are produced in the world today as they can be more precisely maufactured with closer tolerances. Gedore is one of the few remaining companies in the world today making hot-forged sockets.
German Tool Reviews nooooo! I want the plastic case, It's much better. I have to zip tie mine because it opens on its own and the extensions move around inside the small metal case. The plastic one has much thicker foam to securely hold everything in place. I work on wind turbines so my tools are moved around a lot and my stahwille goes in my small climb bag pretty much everywhere I go.

Good video, pls show more tool videos from Germany, I really like the Stahlwille Empty case ya showed but 2 tone foam is always the best, or I really like the soft cases from Wera and there tools, I really like the Gedore Ratchet handle the best, but the Stahlwille Quick Release Fine Tooth Ratchet is my favorite right now. I've heard Gedore is trying out Soft Cases but I can't get them in the US
Years of use later this is my takeaway. It actually means I prefer Stahwille because I work on motorcycles and Porsche, but the Gedore is tougher just also bigger
Have ya seen the Stahlwille Advant Calendar this year 2017, it's the cheapest 1/4" set with fine tooth ratchet and sockets but it also comes with a bottle opener
That does seem to be a pretty good set. I wish they would sell sets with the new fine-tooth locking ratchets but with non-locking extensions. That said, I think the locking extensions are actually better than non-locking once you get used to them, just that most Americans aren't used to them.
TheRacerRich I ordered my Stahlwille Advent Calendar 2017 from handtools-from-germany.com/en/stahlwille/sockets-screwdriver-sockets-socket-sets/socket-program-6-3mm-1-4/socket-sets/stahlwille-90241712-advent-calendar-socket-set-24pcs-limited-quantity.html it cost £90 plus shipping, rush shipping 6 day to Kansas from Germany $130 US or KC Tool Co has it for $150, way over priced they said regular price is $200 at KC Tool, but it's actually £90, I'm wanting to get a really good 3/8" Ratchet & Socket set? Who would you pick? I have 1/4 Wera & Stahlwille - 1/2" Gedore and 3/8" Wera but I wanna get a more complete 3/8" Socket Set, would ya pick Stahlwille or Gedore or Hazet?
Sadly, the overpricing happens before it gets to a US dealer with most German tools. When I looked into becoming a dealer for Hazet, I found that it was cheaper to buy the tools from a retail store in Germany and pay the shipping than it would be to buy them from their US distributor on a dealer account.
@@TheRacerRich Search for Superlock as a generic term. Apparently those wavy sockets prevent rounding of nuts/bolts or work on previously rounded nuts/bolts but the disadvantage is that they get stuck on the nut/bolt after torqueing.
Only one thing… what are the tools used by astronauts in the international station? Stahlwille and Snap-On! So is for some reason,, stahlwille outperform all brands in design, quality steel and mechanical properties. Only Koken and Momento ( sweden sockets) ( the best impact duty high pressure strong sockets) can fight with Stahlwille!
My experience having used them all is Stahlwille is not the strongest but is the most strength for the least weight and size, which is probably a big deal for the space station. Gedore is stronger through brute force and maybe not stronger by as much as it is heavier/bulkier. Snap on honestly is probably up there because of the Buy American Act.
I would discuss pricing in the videos, but it seems like most viewers are from other countries, and the prices on these tools vary wildly depending on your country. They seem to be more expensive by far in the USA than anywhere else in the world. Maybe in future videos I'll mention pricing in the USA (where I am from) and pricing in Germany (where the tools are from)?
TheRacerRich Thanks for your reply! I am definitely planning to buy stahlwille in future, I just love this brand. I do have elora dealer near by me ( delhi, India) but yellow colour is not my taste, haha. I purchased some knipex pliers and their prices here matched same as euro prices. So I am hoping for similar pricing for stahlwille too.
It's about double what it is in Europe. I got set up with a dealer account but never actually set up my business because dealer cost was still higher than retail price in Europe and I didn't think there'd be enough business for it.
TheRacerRich there is a huge business for it, look at KC Tool Company, they push Wera then Gedore, everything else after they have a large selection but its very pricey also, I've found stuff in Germany way cheaper even including the $30-50 shipping charge
Just came across this video. It has good camera work but commentary needs work haha. I have the gedore set like this and I think the stahlwille is better.
No, the county has really been dragging its feet on issuing my business permit, and my day job makes it hard for me to find time to call them when they are open.
I love Hazet products, and I have some I will be showing on the channel when I have time, but I find their ratchets to have heads that are too thick for tight spaces.

Stahlwille is awesome using the SW for so many years now.

I believe it is correctly pronounced "shtal-villae."
Steel- will (stahl-villa)
Both wrong...
gedore is the best ..durability
Stahlwille in eng. is Steel Volition, what a great name for a tool company.

So the weird thing is the standard they claim to meet is the normal hex socket standard, but that clearly can't be right.
