      I hate how these PrizePick spons say "it's you against the numbers" (it must be in their requirements, right? Every NBA commentator does it, and I imagine they have it in their requirements because they don't want people to think of it as gambling).
      It's not you against the numbers - it's you against the sportsbook. They have the edge (the 5% vig) baked into the odds, which is why 95-99% of bettors are losers long term.

      Nope. His time is done. He had a good career. However, his style of play is outdated. His feet are painfully slow and he leans terribly on defense, creating an obvious point of weakness. Mello should fade into the sunset with dignity, proud of his well above average NBA career.

      I feel like the fact the centre position has changed so much in the last decade its almost he played right at the end of the era where bigs were actually bigs, ie they'd be in the post almost all the time doing what Shaq did best whereas now they're expected to be able to play positionless basketball and shoot 3s like Jokic does, in a way its almost similar with Blake Griffin sure he physically wasn't able to be as explosive as he used to be but the difference was that he did his best to adapt to where the league is now but even with that he is no longer the calibre of player he used to be

      @thkthk12 I agree I feel like the drama that Melo had during the beginning of his career along with the fact he was always more about his numbers vs team success is one of the reasons why he isn't playing in the league now vs LeBron who all he cares about is winning a championship at this point, sure he ultimately wants to play with his son but when his body is still able he wants to win more. For me the first time I found out he had a chance to be on that heat big 3 and chose the money instead of having a chance for that, that told me all I needed to know, cause him and LeBron were friends before they even entered the league yet he chose money over a chance to win a championship

    I still remember Kobe saying during an interview that Melo is the hardest player to play against in the NBA that time ( after Black Mamba himself of course), and he showed a lot of respect to Carmelo Anthony
    It’s sad to see that my favorite player of all time in the NBA never got to win the championship title. He sure had a lot of ego during his prime but that’s what made him so fun to watch… I always believed in Melo in those clutch 1v1 moments.

    He's 39 years old, was never a great defender and is worse now. He can still score 13ppg is respectable but he's such a defensive liability that he's likely to give up double his production. He was actively being hunted on the floor. Remember the OKC v Jazz series a few years ago? Where whoever Melo was guarding was giving him the business? That's why no-one wants him.
    And no-one deserves a farewell tour, the guys that got a legit one - Dirk, Wade, Paul Pierce, Kobe played all their best seasons with one team. Nuggets fans GENERALLY don't like how he left, Knicks fans don't like the way his Knick career ended. That's the knock-on Carmelo is that he's and isolation ballplayer but I think his last couple go rounds in the NBA have proven that he can play whatever he needs to play for the team. I'm sure some teams still hold on to that though and that makes it difficult because if only half the teams believe that then you're only able to get with the other half of the teams that I may not have an opening.

    The League changed and it has pulled the rug out from under the way Carmelo learned to play basketball. He knows how to score in tight spaces. That's not really a thing in modern offenses where the court is spread by swinging the ball to shooters. He could be one of those shooters but that's not enough to justify his targetable defense. Yeah he's got all the moves a go-to scorer needs against a packed paint. Most teams don't pack the paint anymore and every team has a go-to player or they are tanking to get one.

    • @8301TheJMan
      @8301TheJMan Год назад

      I thought he transformed his game pretty damn well by the time he got to Portland, became a deadly spot up shooter and post scorer. And though he wasn't good on defense, he was/is far from being the worst. I mean for fucks sake, Harden still plays and Melo's D isn't anywhere close to being as terrible as that guy's D. And based on what Harden's offense has looked like the last couple years, i'd argue Melo may actually be a more effective scorer currently, so if that guy can still get min's, Melo certainly should.

    • @ShareefusMaximus
      @ShareefusMaximus Год назад +1

      @@8301TheJMan Harden has been isolated in the past, the numbers haven't worked for the teams trying it. So you're just going off of your perception or some low lights you've seen. Carmelo is a good scorer James Harden is a historically good scorer whose game fits into modern offenses perfectly. And again, a team will put up with ONE poor defender on the floor IF that guy is their GO TO scorer. They will NOT do that for a role player. When teams play during the regular season they are playing their base offense and defense. During the playoff, there is match-up hunting. Why would anyone roster a player that you have to sit when you need help the most? There are just too many players with fresher legs that can hit a spot up for your stars and do little else. I love to watch Melo play and wish he was in the NBA. The NBA is just not like that anymore. If he had been drafted into THIS NBA he'd have a totally different game. I imagine something like Jason Tatum.
