I bought a DFGT a month ago. It's my first wheel so I can't compare it, but I'm very satisfied ... Here in Brazil the Logitech line is the most affordable but with the devaluation of our currency, newer models are quite expensive.
I sold my g27 years ago that I got as a gift. Decided to get back into sim racing with vr, and found a dfgt for $25 US without the pedals, grabbed new thrustmaster t3pa pedals for $80, and I also got a driving force shifter for $60. There's USB adapters for both the pedals and shifter. Works great in Dirt Rally and the usual sim racers. Barely notice a difference between it and my old g27 other than the quality of the products used to make the wheel. Some games won't let you use separate pedals, unfortunately, but they're not games I'm lost without playing. Also if you get some lithium grease on the gears in the wheel, it lowers the sound considerably. $165 for a full usable 3 pedal H-pattern setup with a $60 eBay rig that you set a standard chair up to. Feels incredibly immersive with VR as long as you use a chair that doesn't roll and swivel 🤣

I got mine for 35eur and it works perfectly. I strongly recommend the wheel if you want to get into sim racing and don't want to spend a lot of money. I use the wheel mainly for drifting and racing and it works very well for the price. Thank you Logitech for making such a lasting product!
I got my DFGT in 2012, brand spanking new lol. Used it for 8 years, its a pretty decent wheel for beginners. But the speed of this wheel is just awful, so instead of spending hundreds of dollarydoos for a new wheel. I modded the thing, a gear mod was able to sufficiently bring the speed up so I can drift well with it but it effectively killed the torque of the ffb. So then i wanted more, using 30$ worth of random stuff i was able to make it a belt driven wheel, yes, a belt drive. Changed all the inner electronics with custom new ones incl. new motor etc. Its basically a mini T500 at this point. I have a test video over at my channel if you're curious abt it. Great video btw highlighting this obscure wheel from the past
@@SimRacingCorner Thanks!, as they say "with enough force you could fit anything into anything" xD. Took me a week to build it including fixing small kinks with the system. Taking apart a dfgt is now muscle memory for me lol
Hi everyone, I've used my driving force gt for 8 years now and have played around 1600-1800 hours on it. I love the wheel for its simplicity and how it looks. However, I have some issues with it. after the 1000 hour mark things started to make a lot of noise and it can be very annoying for the people around you. also are there some spots where the ffb completely loses its power. The compatibility is also quite hard to get to work with some titles. But if you look at the price it's impossible to say it's not worth your buck. If you don't have much money to spend I really re4commend this steering wheel since it's been reliable since 2013 for me. I hope this helps someone to make a decision.
@@trainerred6582 you will need logitech gaming software version 5.x.x something but go to logitech site and under gaming tab search g27 and it boom its pretty plug and play minus old software
my dad bought this back in 2008 when I was only three but I’ve been using it since 2017 on my PS4 and it still works like it’s brand new, mine has a metal stand for the wheel and pedals and it’s amazing, I can also use it on my Xbox as I bought some box which makes it work on Xbox, idk how it works but it’s amazing and works like normal.
My thrustmaster tx recently broke so went back to my first ffb wheel, the DFGT. Forgot how good it still is. Actually stopped looking for a replacement for the TX for the time being. TX is stronger and faster, but there’s a feel that I still enjoy with the DFGT.
Just picked one up as an intro wheel to racing games. I am so happy with the quality of this wheel. Good force feedback. Pedals are great for casual racing. Playing Forza 5 Horizon. Makes the game so much more fun....found it for $80 cdn. Still looks modern, rubber grippy wheel. 😍
I have bought my DFGT in 2008 and still using it. I had no issue in 12 years, still going strong and really good material quality, still looks like new! Also good with the new games as well. Before that i had a Logitech Momo; and that was the best feeling on Richard Burns Rally imho. But Momo was not as reliable as DFGT. I had some broken parts in the shifter.
It’s a very reliable wheel. I actually prefer mine over a G29 wheel. I bought a Playseat complete with driving force wheel and pedals for £95 on an eBay auction. I already had a Driving Force GT wheel, so I sold the wheel that came with it for about £50 on eBay. So I ended up with a Playseat for about £70 after postage and eBay fees selling the wheel.
I purchased my DFGT brand new in 2008, shortly after I bought my ps3. I remember actually regretting the purchase for a while as I struggled to control the cads in game, so much so I boxed it back up a shoved it in my closet for a few months. I eventually got it back out and set it up on my ironing board that I used as my wheel stand and started to enjoy it. I still use this wheel exclusively the pedals leave a lot to be desired but they are very functional and seem durable. The only thing that has failed for me is my power cord which was pinched at some point around 2010 and 2012 requiring rewiring and in the last few months the power socket is failing. I attribute this to the very poorly designed ports on the base. They angle down towards the mounting surface. In fact I honestly have been expecting this particular failure for about 10 years now.
I love my dfgt so much i have two now. I got the second one about 6 weeks ago for $15. I couldnt believe it so cheap an turns out in better shape than my first one. The lower the ffb the better.More fidelity, dont crank it up.🤘🏻🏁Thx
@@rynosraceroom What??? I was searching on Facebook Marketplace and the prices are at least $60 right now, I'm trying to buy one in another app for $50, that's the cheapest I could find.
I’ve had my driving force gt since 2010 when I got it for Christmas with Gran Turismo 5. I must have used that thing every single day that year until I graduated and life things happened. This year was digging through family attic for something and found it. I have to say , it’s still very much a great product for today. I love this thing and just like back in 2010 , I use it daily. I have a lot of love for this steering wheel. I strongly suggest making the purchase if you aren’t sure you wanna commit entirely to a racing sim setup. I do a lot of drifting with the setup compared to sim racing was in GT5 … I set the shifter up for handbrake and up shift , use the wheel paddles for shifting. No clutch pedal! But you can buy on separately or possibly even get a pedal set that is compatible with the driving force gt.
DFGT user here ;) I've upgraded mine with a DIY clutch pedal using a broken gamepad using the analog stick with rubber bands connected to a crafted pedal mechanism, I just assembled some rubbish laying around like wrist watch case etc..., I also stiffened the brake pedal with a sponge. Another Upgrade is a 14€ thrustmaster flight joystick acting as a hydro E-brake (it has a nice spring) Absolutely satisfied so far I've tried my mates t300rs it was better but didn't feel like i need one asap it wasn't a game changer tbh and the sequential shifter near the wheel is also cool so i have a complete setup for 60€
I've had mine since 2014, it's really solid. I like it. It's very precise in turning and reaction time. Many people should get this as a beginner steering wheel!
@@trainerred6582 It sure does for me, i've been playing The Crew with my steering wheel when it came out and it felt good. Also been playing assetto corsa with it and its response time is accurate
Got this as my first wheel for 45€ last week. I find it awesome, looks better IRL, sturdy build. Pedals are basic but easily modded the brake by opening up the internal spring a little, now looking to 3d print some nice paddle shifters i found online, best gaming purchase i made in years. Had to dig an old driver but it's compatible with windows 11, and you can set variable rotation angles to fit the game
I am able to use the DFGT with the mentioned games with separate pedal controls. If I remember correctly the trick in these games is to select the target controller before configuring those controls. I use the DFGT as my standing up rig with a PS3 gamepad bolted onto the wheel on for hand controls - works great.
i own this wheel too , i brought it years back for £40 from cex however when i brought it , it would spin and not do anything , i therefore thought it was to old to use on pc so it just start there for along time until today when i found another power cable and i tried it and it worked fine , as far as the wheel im not sure if its amazing but for a cheaper starter wheel its perfect
That wheel is really off, it does have ffb but its really wack, and the steering is more like a controller, not as smooth. Its smoother than a controller but not as todays wheel.
I can see stutter in your video. Used to have the same issue in the driving gt and in the g29. Go to task manager, deactivate the USB and activate again. Problem solve
I have had my DFGT from new. I bought it for PS3 and GT5. When PS4 was released I was horrified to find that it wouldn't be supported, so it sat in a box for 10 years until I grew out of console gaming and got into PCVR Sim racing. I never even considered buying a new wheel once I found my DFGT worked on Windows 10, but I am going to add some load cell pedals and a H pattern shifter for a more authentic experience. I will definitely keep racing this wheel until I can get my hands on a reasonably priced DD base with a couple of wheels.
I own both DFGT and G29, one for my son and one for me, the only difference between the 2 are DFGT is more nosier and G29 is slightly more precise as it has more steering input resolutions, other than that, everything else feels the same. For none sim racers, DFGT is definitely the better budget option.
Listen up: I had the Driving Force GT in the past, then I upgraded to BRAND NEW Logitech G29 and was seriously not impressed because it mostly feels the same but you pay a big premium. Then I sold everything because I was saving for a motorbike -> I also enjoy speed IRL :) Last year, I bought a second-hand Driving Force GT (yes, again) and I'm really happy with it. I completely subscribe to this reviewer's conclusions.
I bought this full pedal set in origins condition boxed today as my first steering wheel. I just say I love it, very impressive, much better than using a console controller!!
So it will be able to send you force feedback with new games, right? Is there a list of racing games that won't work as intended on this steering wheel or does every racing game works with force feedback with the old wheel?!
After a long break from sim racing (using this wheel on gran turismo 5) I’ve recently come back again to play GT sport on PS4. I was annoyed I couldn’t use this driving force gt on PS4, instead I picked up a TM T150 second hand and now upgraded to a G923 but still I don’t feel like either is an upgrade over the DFGT, I think that should tell that it’s still a really good wheel. Somehow (as I remember) the DFGT was really good at picking out details in the force feedback, something that blew my mind when I bought it back in 2010. I miss the placements of the buttons and I really miss the sequential gear shifter because it was perfect to program as handbrake and reverse, it was so easy to quickly grab it to do a swift reverse and obv very handy as a handbrake. I can only agree with this video because if you can use it with games on pc it should be a very good and cheap alternative to start out or if you still want to play games on ps3.
I have 2, one I bought new about 10 yrs ago and the 2nd I bought hardly used for $40 only because the original power supply fried and couldn't find another haha. Original wheel still works but I use the newer one. I drift most of the time I use it and feels good, only downside is no clutch pedal 😔 they were definitely worth the money, the old one is still alive after a 10 year thrashing, crazy value for money!!
I daily use one. My problems are mainly with the pedals, they are not so good and the accelerator pedal keeps detecting without my foot in it, I have to set high dead zones which ends up on losing precision. I have put a sponge on the brake pedal for extra resistance and better control. For the sterring wheel, what I struggle the most is to find the best settings on Logitech software (maybe due to being lazy). Overall it's a good steering wheel. I found it for 30€ second hand.
I bought a used one during the pandemic and I enjoyed it so much! My first FFB wheel. Sadly something broke inside after like 3 years of use. I could sell the working parts though.
I absolutely love mine! Over the years I've bought a G29 Shifter and Thrustmaster T Clm Pedals so it still makes for a nice Setup. Also the Sequential Shifter can very conveniently be used as e brake if your using the pedals or an H-shifter :)
8:48 I belive it has a dead zone because it is a gear driven wheel , instead of the T300RS that uses a belt driven wheel, and you can only get so much precision from gears.
I remember begging for this along with GT5 from my parents. Really keen on the idea of getting a bit of practice driving before I could take lessons. Didn't have a desk to mount it too, which is quite important (imagine wrestling a force feedback wheel on your lap!). Thought it was three pedals and 6 speed shifter, which would have been more realistic for driving practice. Basically didn't do my research and the thing was wasted on me. Gonna see if I can find the old thing now though, would love to have the wheel back in commission now.
I still use this on ps4 with the Brooks converter. I didn’t want to buy a new setup not knowing if it would work with ps5. Works great on gt sport and assetto corsa compitizione 🍻
Hello, which converter do you use? Could you please give me a link to the one you're using? And does it need a PC next to the PS4 or it work by itself? I have got the DFGT and want to use it on GT SPORT Thanks!
Still use mine after years. All I've needed was a new AC adapter lol. Now I'm getting more into SIm racing and will prob just save and save until I get up enough for a Fanatec setup.
Greetings and great video, well explained and with lots of detail in the review. I can confirm that this wheel is amazing for what you paid for it, i have one at home that i treasure alot, i have not used it for some time, but now i want to dust it off under my table and set it up for some racing. Got mine for about 90 dollars, but it came fully working with all accessories in great condition. Included with the wheel was the Wheelstandpro, hence why it was a little bit more expensive, but it's really nice to be able to fold it up and hide it under the table when not in use, and i also wanted to have the wheelstandpro if i wanted to play around with friends and VR Dirt rally (it was really cool effect to be able to look around the car while driving) but in all fairness, it was cumbersome to setup with more cables and such, but cool to be able to play it in VR. :) Quality of this wheel is plastic, but its the "good" plastic that wont break, one downside of this wheel is that it is a little bit on the loud side, so wont be playing it after GF is going to sleep, but im not an expert with wheels in general, so i cannot compare it to any other, so i dont know if it is louder than the rest or not. And the force feedback is really heavy, hitting a corner hard will really bumb you !! especially if you set force feedback at max and the game is savage! ;)
It's so surreal buying a 16 year old wheel for a VR gaming setup but I couldn't find anything that could compete with this price to value ratio especially when my max budget was so low.
I think I like my driving force pro more than my brand new g29. I must be crazy. But I feel like the cars have more weight I can feel more. I think I just like the higher resistance. The g29 is too light to steer. I found myself able to save the car if the back starts to come around. With the pro. For whatever reason the g29 just feels more numb
Bought mine 9 years ago, still have it. Recently it's been having serious issues, probably driver related, though a reinstall didn't fix it. The wheel occasionally pulls to force feedback to center as if no game was running, but the game is running. Pressing a button on the wheel makes the force feedback turn the wheel. Before the driver reinstall I could use it for 5 seconds and all inputs were stuck. If I floored it first, it was stuck floored, no buttons or wheel worked. Like WTF...
Yeah over time these wheels do eventually die off, sorry to say but its not driver issues, its the wheel. Although its already been a year so you've probably worked it out. Cheers
@@ast5515 Sad to hear, probably going to replace my pedals with a g25/27 pair and an adaptor, although I'm curious as to what fate your wheel was subject to :D
@@doubleddrames8336 This is going to be a long one... Right now I'm trying to save money for other things. I don't have enough time to play to justify spending the money on a new wheel and pedals. I took apart my old pedals and tried to find replacement potentiometers but it's like they don't exist. You can still buy new ones for a G25/G27, but those are different. I considered buying just the G25/G27 pedals from someone and getting the adapter but there aren't many of them for sale where I live. In fact I just looked and there isn't a single one for sale. It's either the steering wheel + pedals, or nothing. At which point I might as well buy them brand new because they hold their value so damn well. A working DFGT sells for the same price I bought it at. And mine is a pretty early one. I bought it around 2009, brand new. I tried the G29 and the T150 but I wasn't impressed with either one. They aren't worth their price in my opinion. I borrowed the G29 from a friend. In half a year it developed a click in the brake pedal and it had wheel wobble. I wasn't impressed with the force feedback either. I bought a T150 Pro and then returned it for 3 main reasons. 1. The pedals are terrible. I had wobble on the brake and clutch from day one. The throttle was squeaky. Sure you can take it apart and grease it (like many people have done), but that's not something you do when the thing is a week old. It's been in production for a few years. At this point it's absurd to find glaring quality issues like this. Also no teeth for use on carpet. It's a ridiculous oversight and they didn't fix that in the T248 either... 2. I can hear the fan while wearing headphones. It's annoying. 3. The wheel itself... You know how you can feel the gears of the force feedback system in the DFGT? Well the T150 has that too. Except those teeth "happen" around once every 3° of rotation and the amount of force you need to turn the wheel is inconsistent because of this. I can't really explain it better but it's an absolute deal breaker for me. I role play more than I race and if I set the force feedback strength to match the power steering of a real car, I end up with literally no force feedback and a wheel that feels like something inside it is binding, but not constantly. Unfortunately I don't see anything on the market below the T300 that I would even consider spending this much money on.
Hi, i recently bought a driving force GT and like you, i am missing the pedals. Do you have any suggestions for replacements other than the momo pedals?
Jam a squash ball under the pedals it makes them better. I got one for my PS3 playing grand turismo dirt 3. It's a great wheel sadly it was deliberately nerfed for the PS4
I bought this second hand some time ago and it has been a nice wheel, however on idle the ffb motor was causing the wheel to rattle and make noises - maybe because it's just second hand, not sure.. I am now trying the Driving Force Pro, which imo feels much better with its rubbery and grippy material. I know the the GT is more advanced with its better motor, more buttons and better layout, thus I cannot decide which one to keep....
I'm still running a DF Pro wheel and its still as good as the day I bought it nearly 15 years ago. My only frustration is the pedals and that's got me looking at newer set-ups. This has got me wondering if it's just worth buying buying decent set of pedals and keeping the wheel for a bit longer.
I've got one for 40 pounds and it was keeped away bcs it's quite dusty. I guess this is advantage since it wasn't used too much. I am on the bus going home :) Can't wait to try it
here I am, playing EA Sports WRC on my DFGT, the only con of this wheel is undoubtly the noise, and, for the same reason (gears), a bit slow on some situations
I'm looking to buy this but I am concerned about driver updates for windows 11. Is it worth just buying a more expensive wheel for the sake of future proofing or am I being over cautious as the wheel is already ancient and still works fine?
i Got mine in 2015 i think used from a frend around 1500Nok 150 euro(i think) in that time both for Logitech Driving force gt the version that has GranTurisimo 5 and 6 advert on the box, but also Logitech Attack force 3D pro(Flight Stick with Force feedback proper like the Wheel) and i stil use them and love them only down side i can think of is the missing clutch peddal and H-Shifter but the attached shifter is nice in Euro Truck simmulator or Dirt 3 as a HandBrake :D
You can use a third-party adaptor. Just make sure you match the Voltage input exactly for the wheelbase. Amps need to match or exceed the requirements.
I've had mine for 2.5 years, $85. The pedals kinda sucky, but otherwise great. Thinking about upgrading to the G29 soon. Also: 4:30, yours clicks. I don't think that's normal. Ah, whatever. It was £20.
Great review. I've owned my GFGT for 10 years, still good as new. I can't seem to get it to work in Nascar Heat5, on Steam. When I enter the track, it just floors it in reverse, and I can't leave the pits. Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated. Also, what carting PC game is that? Looks like a fun drive. Thanks!
In the Logitech Profiler software there's an option to reverse the pedal axis. I think that's the problem you've got there. Some games need it set in the Logitech Profiler, some don't. The Karting game is KartKraft.
Late to this video but manages to get hold of one of these with pedals for £20! And I think it works absolutely fine although it’s my first ever force feedback wheel so don’t know what I’m working with tbh.

Amazing wheel, im still using it for gt4 and soon on ps4 with an adapter.
@@alepepperoni2563 what adapter?
Wow that's some impressive modding you've done. I watched your video, it's spinning with plenty of power. Good work.
@@SimRacingCorner Thanks!, as they say "with enough force you could fit anything into anything" xD. Took me a week to build it including fixing small kinks with the system. Taking apart a dfgt is now muscle memory for me lol
Legend, I'm an electronics engineer and about to pick up a DFGT, can you tell me how you did it and what was required? ace

I'll be using it on ps4, I just bought a ps3 to ps4 brook converter 🙊

my dad bought this back in 2008 when I was only three but I’ve been using it since 2017 on my PS4 and it still works like it’s brand new, mine has a metal stand for the wheel and pedals and it’s amazing, I can also use it on my Xbox as I bought some box which makes it work on Xbox, idk how it works but it’s amazing and works like normal.
That's great to hear, they made things to last back in the day.

Mate, appreciate the detail you go into. Will pick one of these up for my first wheel! Thank you
No problem 👍 All the best!
Hi! So the old one will work with new games? Including correct steering angles and force feedback? Why do you prefer the old one over the G29?
If you are on PC it should work with any game no matter the age
It was great to hear feedback on your experience with the DFGT, thanks very much.
Yeah before I modded mine I also had problems with the cables, for me its the USB cord that started to fall apart after a couple years of use
Thanks for a great tip on using it with an ironing board, I may try it one day when I get both ☺️
I love my dfgt so much i have two now. I got the second one about 6 weeks ago for $15. I couldnt believe it so cheap an turns out in better shape than my first one. The lower the ffb the better.More fidelity, dont crank it up.🤘🏻🏁Thx

I remember after getting my first DFGT that I found a G27 for a good price, ended up preferring the DFGT because of the single motor feel.

Love this vid.. I was getting ripped of the othe day on assetto for using that wheel.. Have had it for about 9years and Aint gonna chage it soon
Right on!
Thanks for the tip! My father is going to hammer this wheel in ETS2!

I belive it has a dead zone because it is a gear driven wheel , instead of the T300RS that uses a belt driven wheel, and you can only get so much precision from gears.
I just picked one up for free (inc box and peddles) in mint condition. Great fun!
I remember begging for this along with GT5 from my parents. Really keen on the idea of getting a bit of practice driving before I could take lessons.
Didn't have a desk to mount it too, which is quite important (imagine wrestling a force feedback wheel on your lap!). Gonna see if I can find the old thing now though, would love to have the wheel back in commission now.

Greetings and great video, well explained and with lots of detail in the review.
I can confirm that this wheel is amazing for what you paid for it, i have one at home that i treasure alot,
i have not used it for some time, but now i want to dust it off under my table and set it up for some racing.
Got mine for about 90 dollars, but it came fully working with all accessories in great condition.
Included with the wheel was the Wheelstandpro, hence why it was a little bit more expensive, but it's really
nice to be able to fold it up and hide it under the table when not in use, and i also wanted to have the wheelstandpro
if i wanted to play around with friends and VR Dirt rally (it was really cool effect to be able to look around the car while driving)
but in all fairness, it was cumbersome to setup with more cables and such, but cool to be able to play it in VR. :)
Quality of this wheel is plastic, but its the "good" plastic that wont break, one downside of this wheel is that it is a little bit
on the loud side, so wont be playing it after GF is going to sleep, but im not an expert with wheels in general, so i cannot compare
it to any other, so i dont know if it is louder than the rest or not.
And the force feedback is really heavy, hitting a corner hard will really bumb you !! especially if you set force feedback at max and the
game is savage! ;)
Bought it today used for 50€ in very good condition.
i used to have this wheel, cruising in gran turismo with it was a blast. such a great wheel i just bid in an auction for one :)
It's so surreal buying a 16 year old wheel for a VR gaming setup but I couldn't find anything that could compete with this price to value ratio especially when my max budget was so low.
I used this all the years for Farming simulator. Im plannin to use it in Forza Horizon 5 soon.
Great video! Is this a good wheel for playing OMSI 2 and Euro Truck Simulator 2?
I would think it would be.👍
I think I like my driving force pro more than my brand new g29.
Cheers
@@doubleddrames8336 Yeah I worked it out. It was driver related but sadly the pedals died and this time there is nothing I can do about it.

I found an adapter on Amazon allowing me to use it on the PS4. Still running strong!
Jam a squash ball under the pedals it makes them better. I got one for my PS3 playing grand turismo dirt 3. It's a great wheel sadly it was deliberately nerfed for the PS4
I bought one for 80 euro fully modified ( with custom paddles and a custom shifter) with carbon fiber details
I haven't tried the Driving Force Pro, it's difficult to find in the UK, where the GT is very easy to find.
I found this wheel in like a Tech trash thingy, where you can throw old Electronics and it works!
ive got one and im loving it ive had one for a few months now
I'm still running a DF Pro wheel and its still as good as the day I bought it nearly 15 years ago. My only frustration is the pedals and that's got me looking at newer set-ups. This has got me wondering if it's just worth buying buying decent set of pedals and keeping the wheel for a bit longer.
If you're still happy with the performance of the wheel then just upgrading your pedals is not a bad idea at all.
I've got one for 40 pounds and it was keeped away bcs it's quite dusty. I guess this is advantage since it wasn't used too much. I am on the bus going home :)

You can use a third-party adaptor. Just make sure you match the Voltage input exactly for the wheelbase. Amps need to match or exceed the requirements.

In the Logitech Profiler software there's an option to reverse the pedal axis. I think that's the problem you've got there. Some games need it set in the Logitech Profiler, some don't. The Karting game is KartKraft.
