Watch my latest video on this for a deeper dive into wheelbases - Do I still think you should buy a T300? ruclips.net/video/CAIdUVooylQ/видео.htmlsi=U-8Z8EF7ztvU8GBS
Just a quick tip for those starting on a budget: If you have some old joystick for flying sims lying around just use that as a handbrake. You ofc have to setup axis accordingly but its not difficult and you get lots of extra buttons as a bonus.
@@xavierpayne7179 Im pretty sure you can. There is a app for AC called Joycam however Ive never tried it myself. But from what Ive seen gamepad might be better for this as it basically emulates controls of a drone.
I bought myself a Logitech G29 and shifter as my first wheel and pedal set and I'm pleased as punch with it. In fact, I also built a Ricmotech RS-1 and bolted everything down. Bolted down wheel for stability, bolted on 6-speed shifter, inverted pedals also bolted on. Actual car seat from a junkyard. It's very nice. I've gotten plenty of compliments on it. Also replaced the brake pedal spring with a newer one like the G923 has. I've been playing PS3 and PC games with it. Gran Turismo 5/6, F1 2010, American Truck Simulator, Forza Horizon 4, and at some point, Assetto Corsa.
Thats great its working for you.ive ow ed two logitech wheels. The g27 and g920 both equally junk but in different ways. If you are driving close to pro levels it will destroy the logitech wheels.. They're a horrible investment considering the price of the moza r5 .
Yea like every thing in life, each of their own. I bought g20 for my son to play his racing games. Huge upgrade from entry PXN V9 😂. Now the more I watch videos, I’m ready to spend $500-$1000 😅. But I let my son play this G20 til he gets a summer job since all his friends use the same wheel. Send me a link of your set up? Debating to build one from a Skyline seat I prob could get for cheap
@@cristianadangonzalez628 I use my G29 on my PS3 Slim model just fine. The only problem with it is that on PS3 it emulates the Logitech Driving Force GT, not the G25/27, so you don't get the clutch pedal and you cannot use the 6-speed H-pattern shifter. That only works on PS4/PS5 and PC, unfortunately. But it's fine. I can paddle-shift my way through F1 2010 and Gran Turismo 5/6.
I've been using a G920 attached to my computer desk for about three years. I play ACC and F1 2020 and it works well enough for me. It would be fun to have a sim rig but I can't justify the money and space it requires.
While i mostly agree, if you want a setup with a shifter the thrustmaster is lot more expensive compared to Logitech. A friend of mine tried both and went with the g29 because he didnt feel much diference.
Yep! I've encountered this problem multiple times over the last week browsing racing wheels. I found a new Logitech wheel set with a shifter included for just over $200. Beginners may not want to deal with the complexity of clutches and manual gearboxes but if you wanted to check it out without spending $150 on the shifter alone then Logitech is the best way to go.
Wow!! This is by far THE most straight to the point video i watched about simracing! Every topic about sim race gear is explained in just the right depth. Very well done my man!❤💪👍
Logitech us best for beginners with low budget. I have my G29 almost since release, no issues at all, still works great. I'm saving money now for G Pro or Moza setup.
@@El_loll_CAN yeah XD my last wheel locked at 180 degrees and hade 0 vibration, 0 force feedback, and it felt extremely cheap Edit: so yeah I definitely think the g923 is an upgrade lol
@@AtomicArchives thanks for your response, I am picking up last minute deal either G923 or T300 RsGT. I am a beginner so still don’t how will it go with me but I guess I won’t be spending $$$ for another wheel later as I will be using it on the weekends only just for fun while playing GT7 , what do you suggest ?
@@El_loll_CAN I’d probably suggest you research it a little and if it’s something that interests you then I would recommend the g923 or the g29 (since thats all I’ve tried) and if you don’t like it you could return it, I’d also suggest getting a cockpit or making one if you are serious about sim driving/racing
You have no idea how AWESOME and insightful your video was!! I'm starting a Racing Sim Cafe, and wasn't sure what to avoid when building these building rigs. Thaaaank youu!
I have been using a Thrustmaster TMX Wheel for the last 3 Years now on PC and Xbox and I can say its great fun for casuals. It's a bit cheaper feeling but the compatibility with other Thrustmaster products works well. I now have the Shifter and better pedals and it's great. The wheel is around 200 now.
Well you just saved me money. I also have a t300 that I upgraded from a g920. And the difference was huge. Good to know DDs arent as big of a difference.
I decided to get t300rs but when i went to get one, it was more than double the price of g29. Hence I chose g29. My friend got a t128. We both are noobs and just play for fun together with our friends. Imo, honestly both the wheels are awesome. Just get any force feedback wheel that falls in your budget. For serious sim racing dd is the best i guess.
I agree with this so much. I started on a t150 thrustmaster setup on os4 playing gt6 and ACC. It was fun. Got me into the hobyy. But about two month later i ran across a deal on a used t300. It was game one from then on. Im now in a full direct drive fanatec rig on pc
Love the wheel stand + playseat combination. Never thought about combining them and turn them into the ultimate “compact sim rig”. Thanks for the tip man!
I used to race modded clunkers at an old dirt track when I was a kid, then I got married, had kids and life kind of got in the way of my favorite past time. Kids are teenagers, I'm out of the army, so I'm ready to get back into this without the risk of dying in a car fire. Thank you so much.
Definitely feel you on getting less daring as i get older. Check out the game wreck fest if you haven't already, don't think the physics are as realistic but might be up your alley.
I totally agree with this, I have the logitech g29. And while it is obviously a great upgrade from a controller I am kind disappointed in it, it feels like an expensive kid's toy and I regret not spending a bit more for belt driven. I am happy that it comes with a clutch pedal though because many pedal sets don't, and the good ones with a clutch are quite expensive. I also got the logitech shifter and later on got a fanatec handbrake to make drifting a bit easier.
My friend couldn't find t300 that I have, and bought g29. It feels like toy compared to t300, difference is really big for the small difference in cost. G29 is okay, you still can drive on it and feel things, but it really lacks power and you can drive it with your fingers, it is that lite, while on the other hand my hands hurt on t300 after 30minutes of driving, and I only use 85% of force. But pedals wise, I found g29 ones to be more intuitive because they are similar feel to todays modern car pedals (which is not something you find in race car), and I had to learn to use t300 ones for quite some time, they are sturdy but have really almost no force back, so at least you can be happy with that
@@Tomica031It is actually difficult to find the T300, especially if you are not living in the USA. In contrast, the G29 is widely available. Furthermore, the G29 features a fantastic shifter(fo its money) that is compatible exclusively with this wheel and is three times cheaper than the shifter from Thrustmaster. I genuinely desire a T300, but purchasing it is not as straightforward.
@@slavaukraini8061 yep, like I said, g29 is good starter point and pedals are very good (better than t300 ones you get), if only they put full belt system like t300 and raised price up a bit it would be so perfect
I left a comment elsewhere but look up LUT generator and make one for your wheel. It will make a huge difference in improving the feeling. If you aren’t familiarliar, it’s software that creates a customized force feedback curve for your wheel which you can then use in various racing sims so that the force feedback is much more accurate to what the game intended it to feel like. I cannot overstate how much of a difference it makes, especially the more subtle force feedback effects feel so much better after setting one up. That’s what I did with my Logitech and it’s so much better than what it is stock.
Got this one now and I do like it great start but looking at a direct drive soon.. Anything to start is better than nothing for sure.. pc is the way to go..
I like how you get straight to the point and don't talk like a media robot. With that unnatural and stupid rhythm voice tone that some people talk while reading reviews.
started with a 923 and shifter, it was a great decision. The price point also didnt scare my friends away from jumping in the game with me, i currently have a logitech g pro direct drive, you cant find a negative review about it online, logitech still hasnt let me down, however if money isnt a issue of course theres other options, but even with logitech only having 1 wheel ATM you know more are coming
People always forget this one. The upgrades they did from the G29 and G920 are great. Small amount of haptics on the wheel itself makes the audio of the vehicles rumble your experience even better. Also the pedal upgrade, so much more realistic until you get a pedal set with loadcells. Best starter pedals IMO. I used the G923 for a solid year with no complaints BUT the noise when racing offroad.
Maybe t300 has a better overall feel but my t300 broke in a month. RMA'd it but I wanted to test g29 too so I chose that instead. I stuck with g29 I didn't feel much downgrade and logi after years like when I bought it.
After I discovered Tokyo no Hesi servers and the drift physics on AC, I really want to build a PC with VR. AC on PC is a car guys dream game. Street racing midnight club style and drifting the togue in VR looks so fun and amazing. And the audio is sooo good. A lot of love goes into those AC mods.
Lmao I just bought a g29. I completely agree that you have to do a lot yourself but it is cool drifting around. I'm also not old enough to drive so I wouldn't know what its like. Great video though!
Upgraded my PC from a 3080 to a 4090, as well as every other part recently. This made me want to try sim racing as modern racing games look incredible at maxed out graphics, and I went for a Fanatec CSL DD + F1 wheel + CSL Elite V2 Pedals, for cockpit a Playseat trophy (no space for a playseat F1 ultimate) and a G9 Neo 49", and sometimes using my Quest 3 for VR. Well worth the money, I highly recommend spending more if possible. Between playing on my setup and my friends, who uses a g29 clamped to his desk, its light and day. He comes over a lot more often now to "hang out" meanwhile he just sits and races all day. Anyways good vid.
Going from the T300 RS to the fanatec DDpro 8nm with load cells= massive difference. And now Gt7 in vr 👌. Excellent. I don't play ACC anymore. I think the DD pro even on console is a lot better compared to using the T300 RS on pc. Just my thoughts. I could be wrong. Dirt 2.0 and wrc generations. Amazing. F1 2022...very good with the DD pro and mclaren open wheel. It's still som cade, I know. Gt7 compared to ACC had a lot more to offer. Sim cade or not. And gt7 now on psvr2. Was my best racing experience ever. The interiors in vr are insane. Not one game has that.
Number 1 thing I recommend to anyone who's getting into sim racing or have been in it for awhile. Transducers for chair, it adds engine, road, and tire feel in the chair, it's an absolute MUST have.
Big downside of Logitech for me is that their software/drivers seem to be glitchy and bug ridden. The anti-overheat circuitry kept activating even when the wheel was cold meaning that i regularly lost my ffb gain in the middle of races. Also, the wheel rotation kept resetting to 900 degrees which isn't much use when you're trying to find an F1 car and need something around 360 degrees. Since upgrading to a Fanatec CSL Elite a few years ago I've had no issues other than a couple of minor driver issues that were easily rectified by reinstalling an earlier version.
I started on a g27 back when it released in 2010 playing rFactor drifting online (sorta) with mates via a vpn and some trickery to appear as a local network... anyway I used that bolted to my table right up until about 2016 when I figured I should invest something into my hobby. I got a GT Omega frame which set off a wild change of events for even better immersion. I then got a full Fanatec setup and vr which led into a full Trak Racer extrusion rig. It's an expensive hobby. XD Great video.
Due to low budget i got myself a thurstmaster t248, which is both, gear and belt driven. With small diameter wheel it feels toyish but it's quite hard to change it. As entry level i think it's acceptable because it has simmilar price to Logitech but has got the belt
Definitely a good option. Maybe a g920. It’s also for Xbox and I use it on pc and it’s fantastic for a pro setup if you’re not picky about force feedback
Lots of sim drifter videos are with logitech wheel g27 g29 g920 g923 just need to do a lut. But the t300 is an upgrade if you can afford it. In my country the t300 with no shifter is worth more than double what the g29 is selling for
Any wheel is better than no wheel, but the T300 is significantly better than the logitech. Even with LUT they rotate too slow to simulate real life due to the gear drive. Can you drive around that? Sure. Is it realistic? No. That said... nothing wrong with working within the bounds of what you can afford and what's available to you.
Great advice! I followed exactly none of it. I decided to go with the G920 on Xbox in front of my TV using a home built stand I made out of scrap 2x4's and plywood... cost next to nothing and it's super fun :)
Thanks mate. Literally trying to decide what set up to invest in for a start. Lots of great info in this vid and well presented with a cool sense of humour. Nice
I got brand new g923 for 170$ and it was the best purchase i've ever made. I got myself logitech shifter and 3d printed hall-sensor handbrake. I fit within 230$ for everything and it works well, but I might upgrade in the future
I've used both a thrustmaster and a logitech. There are pros and cons to both. I will say it's easier to get a clutch and shifter with logitech which has ultimately won me out
Yeah, the H-shifter price with Thrustmaster is what turned me over to the Logitech. I know I'm gonna upgrade eventually, so I just want to get my foot in the door.
When I first got into sim racing about 7 years ago and moved from controller to a non-FFB thrustmaster 458 italia wheel and pedal set which had bungee strap of the force to center the wheel. After a year or so on that, I upgraded to the T300RS pack with the t3pa pedals. Anyone looking into reviews comparing the Logitech and T300 options will undoubtedly come across reviews saying the T300 overheats etc. and that logitech is better - WRONG! I live in a region where summer temps reach over 40c and the T300 as my daily driver has never failed me once, not even a hint of FFB fade. The unit is solid, the stock wheel in-hand feels good. Logitech spend the FFB motor bugdet on the leather wheel wrap and left the buyer to experience ancient gear FFB. In a nutshell, I have been using Thrustmaster wheels and pedals for almost 10 years and not a single mechanical failure with daily use. Of course dont set your FFB to 100% in the software but rather in the game being played and you will have a long time friend steering you in the right direction day in and day out.
I own a g 29 and a trustmaster t300 and i'can say the logitech feels much more like a toy. But for beginners the g29 is just the perfect steering wheel to start sim racing
actually looking into this hobby recently. always amazes me in every facet of a hobby how deep shit goes and how deep you allow yourself to get into them. this by far is a really cool hobby and cant wait to join this "friendly" community from what ive seen??? looking for a budget T300 lol are there no other options like lower ver. of a thrustmaster > Logitech? thanks for the content you produce!
Like any community sim racing/drifting has some elitist type folks in terms of gear, games, etc., but overall yeah it's a really good community. Not a ton of options below the T300 or logitech G29 unfortunately. Used is the way to go if you have the option.
If you haven't bought anything yet, Moza is coming out with an R3 bundle very soon that's PC and Xbox DD for $399. I'm in the same boat, my wheel stand arrives today and I'm waiting on the above wheel to be released.
@@omniscient420I’m trying to get a DD wheel but am a bit conflicted on what I should get… moza or fanatec? My budget is up to 1k… I was first looking at the t300 Ferrari alcantara but I’m not sure
@@tuff77777it depends on what platforms you're going to use it on. I'm going with Moza for Xbox/PC. Fanatec has a larger ecosystem with lots to choose from. Moza is still new so who knows how they will grow. I'm fairly casual right now.
Would love to see an update on this video taking into account the GT7 physics patches (more realistic !), the Logitech G Pro wheel (direct drive!) and PS VR2. Thanks for your video !
Would love to but I'm just a regular dude with a full time job lol so finding the time and money to dig into all these different setups is a little difficult at the moment. Maybe once the channel takes off (fingers crossed).
3:06 I currently have a playseat challenge and am suffering with flex at the wheel base. It flexes about 6-8inches up and down. Was looking for a way to mount the steering wheel differently and saw this. What’s your experience with your set up? How’s the rigidity? Really appreciate any insight
I second everything you said in the video lol. I'm currently running a logitech g920 +shifter +keyboard ebrake that I've modded into feeling more """realistic""", such as increased brake and clutch resistors, resistor bands in the shifter and, after snapping the gear on my first g920, upgradging to a more sturdy gearset. What I can tell people wanting to start off is to NOT BUY LOGITECH. It is almost a guarantee that you will run into issues with your setup and teach yourself bad habits along the way to compensate. To compound those issues, unless you're really tech savvy or know what a drift car is actually supposed to feel like then you likely won't even know that you're teaching yourself bad habits along the way. On top of that, logitech software is notorious for bugging out and im currently experiencing centering issues with my logitech even after a complete PC/hardware wipe and LUT mapping my wheel. All in all, seat time is king, even on a sim, but sub-par seat time isn't doing you any favors.
I had a g29, now a logitech pro, and I love it super easy to set up and has a good feel to it. I also had a fanatic dd2 before the logitech Pro, and I hated it. I'm not in the 90s anymore to spend hours or days to set up drivers and firmware.
It’s more expensive but I’m of the camp of buying stuff that you won’t replace in the future. Investing in a strong rig right from the go is the way to go. So in the future when you upgrade to a direct drive you know your rig will be able to handle it. I also recommend going straight to a load cell brake pedal. Sure spring loaded potentiometer pedals will get you started but you’re going to be giving lap time up.
I don't disagree if you've got the cash to burn and know you're going to stick with it. But at the same time FB marketplace is generally littered with setups that people thought they were going to stick with and didn't. I still say if this is your first foray there's nothing wrong with a beginner setup to test the waters. You'd also be amazed at how many people I get arguing for bottom of the line logitech gear being good enough.
That depends on your situation. If you're not sure you're going to really get into the hobby you don't want to shell out a bunch of cash on something you may seldom use as using lower-end things can be great for getting your foot through the door as someone who doesn't have a lot of expendable cash. Being cheaper also means you can get something faster if it requires time to save. As a result, it can be worth it in terms of getting your hand on something that much sooner as and you can still save for the higher-end thing or you might even just get comfortable with what you already purchased (resulting in you not needing to upgrade) as bear in mind these things have severe diminishing returns in some cases. It's a similar logic to hire purchase where you pay more in the long run but you get your hand on the thing you want that much faster, you just have to consider your situation and find out what works best as there is no one-size fits all solution; bear in mind the cost and time differs by region in some cases. Not only does your job determine your income but also what country you do it in
MIDPOND!!!! Awesome to see that the track is on assetto corsa. I’m about to build my first sim setup and your video has helped me leaps and bounds. Maybe I’ll catch you out at Midpond one day!
I got the g29 some time ago it was kinda weird the force feedback but after some things i did it feels good but the main problem is the rotation of the wheel it rotates slowly but overall it's fine
Used a Logitech g920 wheel for a long time now. Tried learning to drift and couldn’t do it. Spent weeks at a time learning, then going away and coming back again with same result. Then I got a direct drive wheel yesterday and within half hour of trying to drift once I got use to the wheel, I was doing donuts more consistently, gaining back control at corners more consistently and actually drifting without spinning out. Sure I still spin out. But it feels like I actually started to get it. And looking forward to using it more on days off to learn. Also my lap time has improved slightly on the brands hatch course. But I think that’s because the feedback is faster to feel, and more responsive.
Great video! Appreciate the advice. I went with the full budget build route to save money for my real e36 lol. Hoping it translates to the real thing well enough. A little concerned that I’ll have to upgrade if it starts to reinforce bad habits tho.
Yeah I get that lol. Been looking at upgrading my pedals but at the same time trying to get some seats for the Z. Assuming you're talking logitech, def play around with whatever LUT updates people recommend. Not to say you can't transition from logi, but I can definitely see it being easier from Thrustmaster.
THANK YOU! Exactly the video I was looking for. All others were for people with not as much pc and car experience. You answered all my questions thanks again.
as a Logitech G27 owner, I can confirm Logitech wheels arent the best for drifting, the FFB is slow, clunky and loud, which I dont mind, but I plan on upgrading to a T300 RS GT or maybe even a DD wheel when I get the money for it. Very good video
I will upgrade my PC this year and I will focus on building my first SIM RACING RIG next year. It is always my dream to have a SIM RACING RIG at home since I was a kid.
Love the channel man, I’ve been sim racing/drifting for a few years and have really been looking into buying another 350z to drift, and you showing your experiences/progress makes it a lot less intimidating. Also what do you do for practicing tandems? not to be mean but alot of people in some of the popular servers are still learning lol. Just wondering if maybe there’s more serious servers, or maybe discord groups. Figured I’d ask. Love the content!
Awesome to hear, honestly my main goal for the channel is to make it less intimidating and get other folks to make the jump. I'm sure there are some more serious servers out there but I just join whatever and drift around a bit until you spot the few folks on the server who look decent, then start snugging up. This is very much how real life tandems have been in my experience as well, spotting for the people closest to your skill/car level who look consistent enough to avoid wrecking your car. Then approach and ask if they'd be up for tandems. Then inevitably some body smacks into you from behind and wrecks the whole train lol.
in my country I got G29 with half the price of T300, G29 also come with much greater warranty of 24 months compare to T300... But it could be because there's no official distributor of Thrusmaster here
Tempted to get the new Logitech G pro wheel and pedal setup but feel like ill be overpaying a bit. any recommendations for something a bit cheaper with the same 11nm of torque? and also foldable cockpit setups for someone over 6ft?
A lot of folks seem to like Simagic as an entry level DD setup. I'm running the alpha mini right now which is decent, and I've heard good things about the Moza R9. Looks like packages for those can both be had for quite a bit under logitech. Wheelstand I have no idea, I'm short as hell so that's not a problem I have lol.
PC setup here, First timer. That picture of you lol, that's me (minus the headset) G29 too lol, regardless of the title as well, idk if anything honestly could make me better. Ive realized just how COMPLETE SHIT I am at SIM.. This is going to be a LOOOONG Journey!
A bit late but I can't stress enough how good of an advice this is! I bought G29 as my first wheel and it lfet me very disappointed. I sold it very quickly and got T300 instead and I couldn't have been happier. For the difference in price it is well worth it. I hated the grindy feeling of the G29 wheel, the loudness it made and hard ability to drift at all.
@@Manning0151 yeah, kinda, don't have an rwd, so I had to learn drifting on wheel, and on G29 it was hard and unrealistic. went to T300 and now I have at least some capability. anything else you want to mock me on?
When I went from a G27 -> TS-PC immediately the thing I noticed wasn't so much the extra force but the way in which I could now recover from a somewhat sharp snap. On the G27 a sudden snap would lead to a seesaw motion eventually leading to a spin, this being due to the wheel not keeping up with the wheels on the car in game. Overall I'd say a better stronger wheel leads to much better consistency and a far better idea of what the car is doing
No it's still a thing unfortunately. There's a pretty easy mod you can do yourself to upgrade the fan but drifting is like a torture test for wheelbases. I also ran my original at basically 90% torque for a few years before I noticed any overheating. That said, with the prices having gone up on the t300 over the last year or two and with all these budget direct drive setups coming out it really does make more sense at this point to buy direct. I did an updated video on wheelbases if you want to check that out.
@JankyDrift thank you I'll try to find it. I remember the Sidewinder wheel, the Microsoft force feedback wheel, then the logitech momo through to the g series. I've got a g920 but need something for the playstation and gt7. It's why I'm looking at options or adapters to make the 920 work on my playstation. I'm tired of being limited by the controller though it's comfy to use in the recliner.
Playseat with a Logitech G29 is perfect for me, someone who is casual and maybe races 6-8 hours a week. If you’re really into sim racing, get a DD wheel. But for someone who doesn’t have the time to dedicate to racing all week - I think my < $500 setup is perfect and money well spent. I just couldn’t commit to spending more than $500 for a setup I will use 2-3 times a week max. I feel pretty competitive with my G29 - not top tier but fast enough to compete and have fun.
The someone standing behind you VR thing had me dying. Anytime I hear a noise I get a little paranoid when I'm racing in VR. I had a stink bug hit me the other day and ripped off my headset so fast.
I was anticipating the release of the G29. After almost 10 years with no problem, I'm about to hand it over to my grandson and upgrade. It's important to remember that Logitech is a computer peripheral company that's been around for decades. Not to mention, one of the first companies to make high-quality aftermarket peripherals for PlayStation (PS1.) The rest of these companies only make one thing. They go about business entirely different. If you're just getting into it and need to keep price down, Logitech should be at the top of your list. Especially for reliability and ease of use. The Logitech and play seat upgrades are on the way, and I'm looking forward to not spending a dime on it for another 10 years. Don't take sim advice from a guy with a folding rig
Thank for the info! I recently purchased my first sim rig; therefore, I've kept it relatively cost effective by purchasing the GT Omega Classic wheel stand and seat mount. I picked a driver seat from a 2015 Mini Cooper for $100 from a junk yard (saved me $200). Lastly, I went with the Logitech G923 to go with my PSVR2 headset. If I enjoy this rig, I will upgrade the components, including the wheel. In your opinion, if money were not an option, which wheel and pedal setup would you choose?
Honestly I have no idea. There's a bunch of sim focused channels out there that could probably answer better than I can in terms of expensive gear, but my focus is generally bang for the buck because I'm trying to also balance the cost of drifting in real life. My setup now is a decent low-mid range: Simagic Alpha Mini Thrustmaster TLCM TM TH8A shifter Gt Omega Art If I had a bunch of money I'd probably go higher end and include a motion rig, but would really have to do some more research to see what that would be.
😂 for a oem g series i agree. But if your on a budget, you can easily mod a g series wheel to be better than almost anything out there. I perfer my 2 of my g29s, over my t300, my csl elite, only 2 wheel bases that are better is simucube and monza. Granted monza is just pretty decent for the price range. The g29 can easily be converted to a belt drive system, or a direct drive system if you know what your doing. But you really dont need all that unluss sound is a major issue for you. The "slop" in the gear system is easily fixed by swapping out the rack n pinon setup. Want more tq, just increase the tooth count on the gears in the 2 motors, which can also be upgraded. On my gear driven g29 im pushing 18.4nm tq. So needless to say i really need to turn ffb down in alot of games. Theres zero slop in the wheel, and with a pull of a pin i go from 900° to 1080° for trucking games. Besides the cost of the base itself, im only $138 into mods on the gear driven one. Were as belt driven mod can be had for $76 or dd conversion at $215. But in all honesty the gear driven setup feels alot better to me, so its my go to wheel. My t300, csl elite, simucube aplha, and monza are all just crammed in the closet for now.
first! haha, i can definetly suggest going for thrustmaster instead of logitech, i had the g27 back in the days, then switched to t500rs and it still works after 6 years, i want to get to DD but $$$$
Oculus Quest 2 with Assetto corsa here. Go with the Index if your looking for a good VR racing experience. Oculus Link has some issues when playing and I find things that are far away look almost like a video with a very low bitrate. very blurry and blocky.
I wish I could do VR. I have a VR headset. I also have triple monitors. When I try to use the VR headset I get violently ill within seconds of trying to drive. It sucks, because I've been in there and it is better.
I did in the beginning too, couldn't go for more than a few minutes without feeling like I was going to projectile vomit. Start jumping in on short sessions a couple times a day, even if it's just a minute or two. Slowly start to work up even if its just an extra minute or so compared to the previous. Eventually you hit a point where you can do hours at a time, I feel like once I could do 10, all the sudden I could do 20... etc. And this is coming from someone who can't even ride a roller coaster without feeling like garbage.
I just got my g29 and I’m in love with it never have a problem other than I don’t have a good place to mount it so I Jerry rigged it and still one of the best wheels I’ve owned
What about the T248 compared to the T300? I am currently wondering between those two, especially since they seem the be the same price around where I live in the used market
Just looking to build a home made rig. I have a logitech driving force gt that I got for half price 2 years ago😂. I'm planning to upgrade since software is getting outdated. But first I want to build the rig. I have an existing tv allready not the best but it is full hd and hella huge. It will be good to start but defenetly willing to upgrade.

Just a quick tip for those starting on a budget:
If you have some old joystick for flying sims lying around just use that as a handbrake. You ofc have to setup axis accordingly but its not difficult and you get lots of extra buttons as a bonus.
im getting a wheel in 2 weeks and plan to do this, but is there not a downside to being able to move the joystick from side to side?
@@Goliath83you could probably find a way to lock one of the axis’
Can you set up an old joystick like that to do the camera?

Thanks for share your experience, I have a question, is de g29 and the t300 / t300rs compatible with PS3 slim?
Get the truebrake pedal mod for it. 👌🏼
The way you explained the differences between thrustmaster and Logitech in terms of realism is amazing thank you
This is such a common topic BUT probably the best sim racing startup video I've seen in a long time if not ever. Bloody brilliantly done :)
Same here mate. I tried the G25 years ago and it felt good but g29 after real car feels like cr&p
I've been using a G920 attached to my computer desk for about three years. I play ACC and F1 2020 and it works well enough for me. It would be fun to have a sim rig but I can't justify the money and space it requires.
This guy need Cockpit crazy shit, they all sell Mario Kart crap
He needs mad clickbait scum....
You literally just described me 😂 but I've just bought a cockpit as I'm sick of my computer chair with wheels 😂
While i mostly agree, if you want a setup with a shifter the thrustmaster is lot more expensive compared to Logitech.
A friend of mine tried both and went with the g29 because he didnt feel much diference.
your friend might be deficient
I have G27 for almost 10 years. Back then this was premium. :)

That's awesome glad I could help!
@@lllSavitarlll Thanks a lot, not expecting a world of difference but I'll definitely take a look.

Finally a good video that’s not just someone trying to constantly upsale
started with a 923 and shifter, it was a great decision.
Straight to the point. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.

Eh, at the end of the day any wheel is better than no wheel. Appreciate it!
No one cares if sim cade or not, the fun you having is what matters. Enjoy it the way u wanna

Finally. Advice from someone seemingly genuine. Thanks mate
Number 1 thing I recommend to anyone who's getting into sim racing or have been in it for awhile. Transducers for chair, it adds engine, road, and tire feel in the chair, it's an absolute MUST have.
Best video 4 me as someone who know not mutch about simracing and want to start . thanks a lot ;)
As entry level i think it's acceptable because it has simmilar price to Logitech but has got the belt
hey man, considering g923 for xbox. im just gonna play every so often and don't need a crazy setup what's your opinion
Hands down the best, no nonsense, video for people looking to get into sim drifting. Good stuff.
Hahah, you bought cheap Mario Kart wheels, Logitech has good wheels too
Why buy crap ?
I own a g 29 and a trustmaster t300 and i'can say the logitech feels much more like a toy. But for beginners the g29 is just the perfect steering wheel to start sim racing

Lol I'm impressed with the level of effort you went through to make the logitech decent. Let your story be a cautionary tale.
@@JankyDrift you can polish a turd, but at the end of the day it's still a turd lol.

@@Andieu9753 drifting is horrible on the g29, exactly why i sold mine
I have gotten multiple friends into sim racing with the logitech, its a great starter wheel for someone unsure if they actually want to sim race.

Okay you got me with that paid ad, gotta love an honest beggar haha. Earned a sub
I already own a PC and Oculus quest, so i just found a 2nd hand £100 Logitech G920 with gears, and i got the perfect setup for me starting out
A bit late but I can't stress enough how good of an advice this is! I bought G29 as my first wheel and it lfet me very disappointed. I sold it very quickly and got T300 instead and I couldn't have been happier. For the difference in price it is well worth it. I hated the grindy feeling of the G29 wheel, the loudness it made and hard ability to drift at all.
So you couldn’t drift, and decided to blame the wheel instead of your own lack of ability? Makes sense😂😂😂
TS-PC is the wheelbase from thrustmaster right?
I have been looking for a video like this for such a long time now! this is exactly the kind of information i needed thx!
Did the thrustmaster overcome the overheating issue theyve had? Seems absurd to pay that much and have it overheat
I feel pretty competitive with my G29 - not top tier but fast enough to compete and have fun.
hahahaha great video!! Awesome and complete content, well presented and good humor! Congrats
Awesome quick content that covered many questions I had. Thank you.
My setup now is a decent low-mid range:
Simagic Alpha Mini
Thrustmaster TLCM
TM TH8A shifter
Gt Omega Art
If I had a bunch of money I'd probably go higher end and include a motion rig, but would really have to do some more research to see what that would be.
@@JankyDrift Hobbies, why do they have to be so expensive? HAHA! - Thanks for the quality feedback!
2:30 most definitely why i havent jumped into VR yet. lol
My t300, csl elite, simucube aplha, and monza are all just crammed in the closet for now.
first! haha, i can definetly suggest going for thrustmaster instead of logitech, i had the g27 back in the days, then switched to t500rs and it still works after 6 years, i want to get to DD but $$$$
Yeah if my bank account had an extra zero or two I'd go DD for sure, but my T300 gets the job done.
Just upgraded to a t500 rs it’s great
I ordered my t300 after 600 hours on a g27, I kinda agree, but for beginners a Logitech Is more than enough
This is the most helpful video I've seen, what is the name of your cockpit... it is PERFECT for what I need.
Oculus Quest 2 with Assetto corsa here.
Go with the Index if your looking for a good VR racing experience. Oculus Link has some issues when playing and I find things that are far away look almost like a video with a very low bitrate. very blurry and blocky.
Nice video.
I few years back I got the T-150. I don’t recommend it, some times the wheel doesn’t give any feedback of what the car is doing
Say YES to Logitech!
Bruh where have you been lol. I did so much research that I already came to the T300(s) conclusion. I'm saving up for a T300rs GT as we speak.
At least you're doing research, lot's of folks just buying the cheapest they can find lol.
i'd suggest a 12nm direct drive wheel base and load cell pedals.
What about the g923?
Great video truly ahead of the curve
