- This was supposed to a quick camp setup video. Kinda long. This is a carryover from when we had the R1T but the R1S offers a lil more flexibility for carry bikes, an awning, and water tank, plus all the interior room. Most of our gear is older but I can provide info on them if someone requests. I’ll have separate videos on various items in the future. Thanks for watching.
That is a really good set up!
Thanks! Still have a little left to do.
Thanks for this video. I been looking to get this gears
You should consider getting Yakima swing base or something similar where your bikes swing out of the way and you can open your trunk with ease. Nice video cheers
If you wanted to stay in the Kuat family, they also offer a pivot arm and can confirm, works for the R1S
Check out Rockymounts backstage.
Yeah those are good options. Future upgrade! 😁
Wow, you brought a lot of cool stuff, awesome ! I'm a cyclist/hiker and am really thinking the R1S may be the vehicle for me (and my dogs)
Thanks! Yeah properly accommodates all our activities.
Nice setup. Ive contemplated sleeping in the back with all our gear in removable bins. We did that on a howling night in our 4runner. I think the rivian has more space and flatter.
Yeah it’s possible to sleep in there with some stuff. The frunk space makes that possible too.
Nice video! Impressive how much the car can pack.
A tip on the audio, I felt like the music was a bit too loud when compared to your voice. Keep it up!
Yeah I noticed that. I need a remote mic to keep the audio consistent too.
Nice
Front crossbar over the driver's door looks to have a large crack running horizontally across the black portion. Or is that a large scratch? You should take a look and make sure it is not compromised to avoid any potential nightmares while driving with the load on top of it. Just a heads up.
No damage noticed. Lots of scratches. Thanks for the heads up.
I have a very similar hardshell rooftop tent with those amazing tracks. I love your wind deflector and I would love to see the details of the brackets, bolts, installation and rubber used along the bottom to replicate your amazing setup. Currently, the wind noise above 45mph and the lower efficientcy numbers is not ideal. Thanks for any details and advice.
BTW, I have an R1S as well and I also have a biking addiction. Finally, we are heading to Sedona in 3 weeks and we have 3 days to play on the trails. Any advive which off-road trails or hikes you loved the most. Thanks so much for posting.
I’ll try to make a post installation video about the wind deflector. However I used tinted plexiglass, flexible punched brackets and basic nuts and bolts. The weather stripping I used for the edge that touches the roof eventually still scratched the roof because it still caught road debris and dirt. Maybe dark foam strips like a noodles would be better.

I actually don’t remember the trails we did but one of them was devils staircase in Sedona.
@@sanjay.sinclair Thanks so much for the links and info. I have used plexiglass before and the tinted is a perfect match for the situation. I just can't see or imagine which type of brackets you used. It appears you have 3 brackets attached but I am not sure. As for the rubber trim, I will also think about a solution which will not scratch our vehicles. Thanks so much. I appreciate your help. Peace
so cool and the setup is good really good video (+1sub) 😀
Thanks a lot!
Question: What is the thing attached to the rear bottom track of your rooftop tent below the handle of the tent closer to the driver's side? It also appears to have a cord or wire attached. Thanks for your time. I love attachments to my rooftop tent tracks.
After watching more of the video I see it is a cellphone booster. Can you share a link or the brand name you used of the booster? Thanks
The orange cord is an extension cord from the outlet to the tent for our heater and heated blanket. The booster is called Hi-boost. It’s very similar to we-boost.

If no fires are allowed.
What do you do with the hot coal's after you have finished?
It has lava rocks so they cool in an hour and sometimes less if it’s pretty cold out. I also have them wrapped in a fire retardant cloth.
Big rivian, used to be dusty?
It gets dusty and dirty all the time when we head out but keep it clean when at home.
Oh ok, also you used to have an r1t, did you sell it for this r1s or still have both?
Yes I used the R1T for over a year and sold it. The R1S is more convenient for our overland trips.
Where is this?
This is in Sedona, AZ.
Odd choice to have like 100k in overland gear between the tent, awning and rivian, yet like a 300 dollar super cheap fridge. 🤔. Your money , just an odd choice
I’m too poor to buy expensive fridges. It still works well now and it’s from my old setup so no need to upgrade.
300 bucks isn't cheap for a fridge. What I find odd is that you felt the need to point it out. But it's your comment.
