  • A detailed description of the crucifixion of Jesus was written hundreds of years before it happened! Let's analyze this Old Testament passage and respond to objections from an atheist and a Jewish Rabbi. Does Psalm 22 really support the idea that God inspired the Bible and planned ahead of time for Jesus to die for us? Can it stand under careful examination and scrutiny from contrary sources? I think the answer is yes. Allow me to make my case.
Here's that REALLY good video I mentioned where Dr. Michael Brown goes into even more detail on the "pierced" controversy. • Dr. Brown Refutes Rabb...

Mike, I think this is the first time I have ever commented on a youtube video, but I feel it is warranted/needed. I have been a Christian for 45+ years. I have often had struggles with my faith, which always comes back to my poor understanding of something. I have only sustained through faith that the Word of God is perfect, and knowing it is always my understanding that is incorrect if I have a struggle. With that said, watching many of your videos this last year has helped me in more of those struggles I have wrestled with for years than any other source or teacher. I cannot speak for anyone else out there, but I can affirm to you now that your labors have been a true gift of God and help for me if not to anyone else. THANK YOU and of course, THANK GOD as the provider. Now if I can only get my head wrapped around the Trinity. I believe it, I trust it, but understanding it just kicks my behind. Alas, even you (yes, I know you have spoken on it a bit) can't help me with that one. I guess I will just have to figure that one out when I get to heaven. ;-) But I really wanted you to know how very much you have helped me in my faith.

How can a finite mind comprehend the invinitive being?
I don't understand the Trinity either. We are a part of nature and God is supernatural.
As I see it, Scripture and Tradition support the doctrine of the Trinity and I have no reason to doubt it. JWs and Muslims with their pathetic twisting of the Bible do harm to themselves because we know they manipulate it.
Don't worry, even Augustine couldn't comprehend the Trinity, something that a boy had to tell him. What you can do is try understanding it by learning apologetics for example and working through love (Galatians 5).

@@Greyz174 is the Bible not full of patterns, numbers, and sequences? Where do you base this brother? Does it come from scripture? If so share it.
God work’s everything in seasons and patterns. The moon cycles. The seasons. Repeating holidays at a specific time.
Judah sold Joseph for 20 silver shekels and the coat was dipped in blood. There was a 7 year famine in Egypt and we will have a 7 year tribulation period if we were not saved.
Judas sold Jesus for 30 silver coins and Jesus blood cleansed us of our sins.
      7 years of tribulations
How long was Jona in the belly of the whale? How long was Jesus descended into the depths of hell?
How many times does someone have to repeat something for it to be more likely remembered? This is something I have come to understand through reading the scripture.
The scripture is God breathed so we know it’s the truth and all of it serves a very specific purpose. Nothing is useless. Everything has purpose.

In any case, I’m saying the Christian Bible , even the original in Greek, does a pretty poor job of understanding or quoting the tanakh accurately. Sometimes the words are changed and other times pieces are missing. Paul does this often in his letters.

Hi Mike, I've loved this series. I cam across your channel and I've been doing one video per day for the last 25 days now, in this series. It's been so revelatory for me. Doing my own studies over the years and reading through the Old Testament, because I've always been fascinated by it, but I could never quite 'get' a lot of it. I would read it and most of it just left me with questions and confusion about how the OT can be reconciled with the God revealed in Christ in the gospels. Doing this series has been like the veil being removed for me, and I'm starting to see Jesus everywhere! Thank you, and God bless.

I feel sorry for them because I was once like that and they are missing out on the peace and simple joy that comes when someone's lifestyle is such that they would observe this take it internally and change what needs to be changed to let you be the person you are meant to be. Hey bro.. just a quick note to say "thanks" for these videos. Have really enjoyed watching.
Is there a way for those who don't participate in the live Q&A to submit questions?
My wife and i lead a small group, and participate / lead Bible studies. We love the quality and content of the Knowing the Bible studies; but would like to find a series which presents a perspective which speaks to non-Calvinist, charismatic perspective. Would you kindly consider a recommendation?
Also.. we have someone very close to us who believes in God, believes that Jesus is the way; but is dubious about the traditions and customs of Christianity since Jesus. They do not trust the chain-of-custody which has lead to 21st Century Christianity. As a result they do not read the Word and are not in fellowship. Would love to see a "why we can trust modern Biblical Christianity" video.

@@Greyz174 no, because when somebody was crucified they were hanging, and had to push themselves up to take a breathe, if not they would suffocate. So Jesus was using his legs to push his body up to breathe and let himself down to exhale. When a Roman thought it was their time to die, they would grab a hammer and break the victims kneecaps (their knees) so they wouldn’t be able to push up to breathe. But they didn’t break Jesus’s because they realized he was already dead when they went to break his knees. So that’s why none of his bones were broken.

    Great arguments Pastor Mike.
I liked your point on verse 17 - 'I can count all my bones.' Something I never thought of before. I do still think there is a better interpretation of the verse than what you brought up, but good none the less.
I believe the verse gives mention to the fact that Jesus' bones were not broken, whereas the common practice of crucifix victims was to break their legs; and they did not do so with Jesus. Let me know what you think of this interpretation of the verse, as I believe it fits as a better description of what's going on in the Psalm, but again both could be correct, too.
Love your content. And I say this as a Calvinist, so you know you are putting out good stuff, even if we don't agree on everything.

Isaiah 59:19 When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. This was never more pressing than in our time, and it gives me firey confidence but also a hope and a love I want to share. It is my recent painful lesson that as Christians ours is not a battle of wits or a stick it to 'em - although it's carnally satisfying when we do, we are trying to prove the Maker to the made, at some point, you have to trust that those that will not see, won't see but at the same time the Lord's arm is not so short that he can not save ...
