The awesome Fort Condor trick in Final Fantasy 7! On previous playthroughs, I had a tendancy to save my Gil and not mess about with the optional Fort Condor battles but this time is different... I plan to do them all!
Fortunately, I learned of this neat trick that allows you to win the battles much quicker (and cheaper) than would otherwise be possible.
1. Before starting the battle, stick a Fighter as far down as allowed.
2. Start the fight.
3. Keep building new Fighter units further south (each one will move the red line down) until you reach the enemy.
4. Use appropriate units to defeat the small amount of enemy units that have spawned by that time.
5. Defeat all enemies on the screen for an instant win!

I've been playing since it came out I figured it out easy
I like the strategy of just placing a bunch of Shooters, moving them onto the same pixel, and effectively turning them into an automatic turret.
After swimming through the thousands of ff7 walkthrough videos, I finally found someone who is knowledgeable about the game, gives tips and tricks on a reg, and doesn’t add a bunch of unwanted bs. This is my fourth play through for ff7, but first time on the PS4 dumped version. If you are sifting through video after video, and not quite acquiring the information you’re seeking, just subscribe to this kind gentleman. I just did. Literally. Bagels!

Thank you! Just started a game after last playing it all the way back in middle school. Want to complete all the side quests and this trick has made the battles so much faster.
When I was a kid I used to put down 15 shooters put one of them on the hut then tell all the rest to stack up on top of him. Then just put the speed to max and watch them melt anything that approached.
Thanks for making a video on this. Very easily shown and explained. I have only read about it and honestly it's hard to figure it out when you're just reading it.

@RamenReignss improved? No way... its way too difficult, as are alot of the other mini games in rebirth. It is completely unbalanced with the rest of the game

Going to be very interesting to see how the remake handles this, and all the other mini games. I've recently replayed the original FF7 and there's lot of stuff in it that made me stop and think "How will this even work in the remake? Really don't know". Got a long wait to find out I suspect.

@@zerohour6878 I finally played remake recently, thought it reminded me too much of an action movie, and immediately started the original fresh again. It's okay man, the original is still there and it's great.
The same with better graphics...
I only did a few battles for the better items with the Alabama Tick method. I just set up a bunch of sharpshooters and a couple catapults near the top, basically gun them down in the choke points. Your tip is a neat future consideration though.
@Zacariah Anderson Attackers, Shooters, And Defenders Are The BEST WAY To Go, As They Have Both WEAK And STRONG Points. I Mostly Use Defenders To GUARD The Open Paths To Start With.

I just did this mini-game a few weeks ago. I wish I saw this before I went through the trouble of doing it the hard way.
I hope you didn't do the final battle the "legit" way (the one for the Huge Materia).
It's better to just let the enemy advance and make it to the shed. Why? Because it will initiate a boss battle with the commander, who is an absolute pushover. Defeat him, and you get the Imperial Guard armor, which is one of the better armors in the game ... and this is the only place you can get it.
You'll still win the battle and you'll get the Huge Materia and Phoenix, the whole nine yards. Doing it the hard way just makes you miss out on the armor.
That said, for all other Fort Condor battles, you should do them the legit way (or the cheap and easy way in the video).
Hahahahahaha That's SIMILARLY To How "I" Did The Fort Condor Battles In My FF7. Only With Me, I Started Out With Setting 10-12 Troops(6 To Guard The Open Paths To The Shed And The Shed Itself) And 6 To Move In Towards The Enemy Troops To Take 'Em Down. And With Each One That Dies I Place Another! Both Strategies Work Well But The One You Use REALLY Saves Gil And Gets The Battle Done Faster, Plus You Get GIL BACK!
I usually just set 3 fighters on the chokepoints and then aggressively pushed them down to the bottom, sweeping up the enemies by ganging up on them. Only unit you need.
I like it.
You can also dig up a Phoenix materia in Bone village after the raid on Midgar.

@@darkdestructer Ah Speaking Of That, There Is Something About That I'm Not Sure If I Mentioned In Fuzz's FF7 Or Not(I Might've?). You Know How There's 4 Huge Materia And 2 Submarines Right? Normally Your Supposed To Get The "Gray"(Or Is It "Silver"?) Submarine, But There IS A Way To Get The "Red" Submarine AND The Bahamut ZERO Materia Both. Basically, You Have To Complete The "First 2" Huge Materia Missions(Getting The Huge(Magic) Materia And Huge(Command) Materia And Fail The Underwater Mission. You Won't Get A Game Over, But Your First Submarine Falls Out And Your Saved By Mr. Dolphin. You Can Then Go Back To Junon Where The Soldiers Were Fought And Get The Shinra Dog That Was Guarding The Path Out Of The Way, And Follow Along It. You'll Find The Red Submarine There, And Then You Got It. After That, You Can Still Do The Gelnika, And Then Go To Rocket Town And Get The Huge Materia There(Which Should "Then" Become The Huge(Summon) Materia)). And Then After Midgar Raid You Should Also Be Able To Dig Up Bahamut ZERO In Bone Village. That's Useful For Those That Want The "Red" Submarine "And" All Huge Materia As Opposed To The "Gray" Submarine. I Haven't Tested This Myself But I "Think" It Works.

Hey fuzz, at which points in the game do all the fort condor battles open up?
I remember getting this one by accident. I was playing normally and just decided to advance down the field as quick as I could. I realized the red line would advance forward with each additional unit I placed. I decided to string them just like the video to get to the enemy quicker. I figured if I could hold the very bottom of the map the enemy wouldn't be able to mount a decent attack. I didn't realize at the time that reducing the enemy to zero automatically ends the battle. It was a nice surprise, but not one I bothered repeating.
Why? Because I don't mind the Fort Condor battles at all. They're actually kinda fun, once you know how. Trick is to set some decent stationary units at choke points (catapults and stoners), then start the battle and just choose units based on the enemy. Beasts? Use attackers. Barbarians? Defenders. Wyverns? Shooters. So on and so forth. I never bother with fighters, though your mileage may vary.
It's really not difficult at all to do these, and the final battle is the easiest of all (the story battle, the one for the Huge Materia). Here's the strategy: do nothing at all. That's right, don't do a thing. Let the enemy advance up the field and make it to the shed. It will initiate a boss battle with the commander, who is an absolute pushover. Defeat him, and you get the Imperial Guard armor, which is pretty sweet. It's also the only place in the game where you can get one.
You'll still win the battle, get the Huge Materia, and Phoenix. There are literally NO downsides to doing it this way, and in fact it's the preferred method, since you get the Imperial Guard to boot! Trying to do it the "legit" way is actually detrimental, since you'll miss out on the armor.
I hate this mini-game, you just made so much better

@@rogerhammond4835 Actually It's Not The FULL Amount Of Gil You Get Back, And The Amount Of Gil You Get Back Is Dependent On The # Of Troops You Still Have Left After You Finish The Current FC Battle. But You DO Get Enough BACK That You Can Hold Onto For The NEXT One. When He Gets The BUGGY He'll Be Able To Make More Gil More EASILY With Those "Cactuars" In The Outer Corel Prison Desert That Net 10000 GIL Apiece When You One-Shot Them With Matra Magic. With The FAST-FORWARD Active He'll Find Those "Cactuars"(They Are 1/16 Enc Rate) Even Quicker.

Nice strategy, so I take it you'll be doing all the other battles too? I heard you can get a battle after each major story event.
I Know EXACTLY WHEN Each Separate Fort Condor Battle Occurs, And The REWARDS Are Very Well Worth The Backtracks, As Well As The Extra EXP, AP, GIL, Items, And Most Importantly: Kills For Characters' Next Limit Levels. SOME Give Very Little Window Opportunities To Go To So You HAVE TO Know Exactly When Each One Occurs. For Example: There Is ONE That Occurs When You Pick Your Party For Gi Cave In Cosmo Canyon, BEFORE You Go IN The Gi Cave Which Is Why You MUST NOT Have The Buggy Break Down.

I always thought doing all the fort condor battles was the only way to get that pheonix materia so i've always done them, heard if you give them money for defense it won't unlock.
While It's Not REQUIRED To Backtrack To Do Every Last Fort Condor Minigame Battle, The REWARDS Are WELL WORTH The Backtracking. PARTICULARLY The FIRST 2 You Get Which Are The "Magic Comb" And "Peace Ring" From The FIRST 2. But You Have To KNOW EXACTLY WHEN EACH Occurs, Which I Do.

How do you actually start this mini game because it won’t start for me.
After getting Yuffie's Superball, I think you get better rewards by just letting the enemy approach and fighting CMD Horn normally.
Actually, The ONLY Time You Wanna Do "That" Is The "Final" Fort Condor Battle(The Mandatory One) Where Your Going After Huge Materia With Cid And The Team. That's When He Drops The RARE "Imperial Guard" Armor. All Other Times You Wanna Do The Actual Minigame Forms For The Prizes.

You have to have 4000gil on you as well. It's dumb, but that's it.

I use to just let the enemy get to the top and head out with cloud to kill them off. Not sure if this technique has any negative effect.

Do you have to spend your own gil to hire the units? I donated 10,000 to these guys when they said they only needed 8,000 to hire 20 soldiers and fend off Shinra, and when I tried to help defend them, they still said they were short on cash.
Cool strategy! I wanted to do this too with my PS4 version. Turns out the enemies spawn way faster even on slow speed and I have no big gil to spare since I just got out of the mythril cave. I really wanted the weapons for Nanaki and Yuffie, but I guess I'll just wait until I can buy them - it'll probably save me a lot of money just fighting the commander each time.
That said, I am abysmally bad at strategy games like these. I can't even handle the interface on this thing properly. Panic ensues. Wars are lost. I cri.

You can steal many Ethers from starting enemies (such as the Kalm Fang) that sell for a lot.
@@snalupy7648 Thanks for the tip, I only found that out later. I did beat all of the encounters by now - turns out I was also an idiot and cranked the speed meter up instead of down.
Better than Fighters, deploy Workers. For some strange reason they drop your deployment line down even farther. Saving you several hundred more Gil by deploying less units.

It at least works for the first battle, I did it on the Switch version. Don't know about the other ones though.
I'm not sure if this video is supposed to apply to every Condor battle but its not effective in the PS4 version seeing as though the enemies are spawning faster than they are in this video. I'm failing when I use this for battle #3
actually the earliest double Materia growth weapon is peacemaker, you just can't use it. and I believe there is a glitch that if you walk up the stairs to the peacemaker in kalm tower, and walk down and back up into the room, if you didn't grab the chest the chest becomes unavailable, because it will be open.
It should be noted that on the switch remastered, the controls are janked af, and it is VERY hard to make the troops at a pace that you had on your video here.
Why am I only getting potions?
If Your Talking About The "Prizes"(Like If It Says "5 Potions"), That's Actually A "Typo". It's Actually "5 Hi-Potions" In "That" Case. SAME Goes For "Tinctures"(Was It "3 Tinctures"?). That Would Be "Ethers", In Reality.
Edit: Oh, And If You See A "Dialogue Box" That's Like "So Tiny" And Like "Displaying Nothing", Then The "Prize" Is "5 X-Potions" If I Remember Right.
Farming Gil is easy right outside.. 500 a fight and it's sooo fast spam attack with triple speed. I only had 1k and got enough in literature like 2 minutes. I had to fight the first try due to video I saw didn't explain it, got some claw weapon. Easy fight though I'm lvl 15 16 17 ish. STUPID GAME. GEEZ. I feel like i have no control.

Honestly? I've never really bothered with this mini-game. I always just immediately start the fight with no fighters laid down, set the battle speed to its fastest and let the enemies reach the top. Then I fight the Commander in a normal battle and that's the end of it lol.
I do that with the last fight for the Huge Materia. Can't do that trick with the earlier battles though if you want the main item rewards.
