I use a paint pen to mark new batteries with date installed and where bought. Helps with warranty and remembering how old they are.7 tractors,a dozer,a backhoe.dump trailer,2 trucks, jeep, welder.and 3 harleys. Hard to keep track of so many batteries lol. Forgot the forktruck, 22 batteries all together. Ugh.
I was just wondering if the two different types of restraints you used on the air conditioners were working against each other and that's why the binders kept coming loose. I'm a retired driver of 38 years and I truly feel for all you guys for all the garbage you guys have to go through these days. Keep safe.
I just admire your easy going personality. It's easy to see why you have a great following. your professionalism in both trucking and vlogs (showing & explaining what's happening) GREAT WORK !!!
Dan, I used to haul those units a lot and what I did was tack short pieces of furring strips front, back, and sides of them to my trailer s nailing strips just enough to keep them from working around. You are the star in our tv room when all the retired guys come over to rehash our iron hauling days. Take care, Bill
Dan we are on vacation and went thru Bensen on are way to tombstone. We were going to eat at the Horseshoe but it was closed so we got ice cream instead. Be careful on those trailers. We aren't as limber as we used to be.
Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. Very nice video Dan, very relaxing. The music really set the tone. It’s funny how some loads just need constant attention. Being the professional that you are it’s all under control. I really like your videos. All about trucking and nothing else. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring..
Good job Dan keeping up with maintenance..I am from Oklahoma but have been in Missouri for many years, but I still miss that flat land..It takes me back home to see that Oklahoma flat land..Have a great day and be safe out there..😃👍☕️🇺🇸
A coffee with Dan video this morning! Great way to start your day. Sometimes those maintenance issues go in streaks. I’m with a couple of other commenters about the paint marker date thing on your batteries. I also mark the date on the air filter housing when I changed out the filter too. Safe travels Dan, thanks for the videos
Maybe it's the new shoes Dan, same thing happened to me when I was going down the stairs, the soles in my shoes that I was not familiar with, hit the edge of the back step and down I went without anything to grab at, I am not heavy, but I went head on first, hit everything else in my way down with my bony body, but, nothing's broken, so, I just got up and shake the dust off, and pretend nothing had happened, my ears were ringing my face was red and my two little hairs in top of my head were standing up like two little antennas, it happens, so, I figured its not new, nice video Dan, thanks for the ride along. Joe.
I just had 2 comments deleted.. Anyway, I think it was because I mentioned a specific tire brand. So my original comment was that I had bought a tire mounting set off Amazon and it's already paid for itself.. I bought 4 of the same tires you just mentioned and it cost me 2 hours and about $1k for 4 tires. I know not everyone is interested in doing that but as an Owner/Operater it saved me $500 on 4 tires.... Keep trucking, sir..
Another great video Dan good to see the TRAIN OF THE DAY featuring again .Bailey looks well and she must be great company on your trips .Take care Dan and safe travels.
Hello Dan I admire your Professionalism on how you deal with issues. There s a Problem You Fix it No excuses You do it right the first time ! ( Tires and Batteries) Keep safe Sir Cheers from Calgary
Can't believe I went over 5 years using ratchet binders. When I switched to snaps man oh man it's day and night any issues you ever had with ratchets are eliminated with snap. Stronger securement, coming undone, 10x faster. The fear of snaps held me back.
Wondering if those chain straps are getting old and the straps stretching or maybe next to breaking. Could be the walking of the AC units. Be safe, keep on truckin.
Dad said he couldn't run flatbeds because he would be out every hundred miles checking the load, for fear of the chains coming loose. Nephew has a run from Dallas up to Oklahoma and back. All he does is back under the trailer and go, he got a ticket the other day because the trailer's brake cans weren't adjusted correctly. All he does is make sure there is enough brake pad showing. So just after he gets the ticket it comes up on the computer that the trailer will be taken out of service once he gets to his destination because their records show it needs service. He said great why didn't you notice before I got the ticket!
Hey Dan !!! Didn't see any dunnage under those jack wheels on those Army trailers as thought that you have issues with those trailers making holes in the trailer floor ???? Anyhows
I'm not a professional trucker. But when we would load our tile track down (much like a huge excavator) we would always bind the chains away from the center. You're binding to the middle of the load, if that makes sense. If you spread the chains away from the center to the outside, you will distribute the load out further. Are you walking the load due to that? Move the chains to the outside of the load, not to the inside. Let me know your thoughts?
Try turning rachet binders around so you're pulling handle towards u when tightening the other way might be undoing itself when you go over those really smooth roads.
Just wondering how much money you spent on maintenance and supplies a year versus what you make? Just a rough estimate it’s gotta be expensive maintenance not even the fuel I understand we pay it but you must keep records. Thanks Dan another great video
I full-time in a diesel pusher motorhome, so I feel your pain with stuff going wrong and having to replace tires. I just replaced six tires and went with regionals so we will see how they last.
May I suggest using those straps on both sides, chains on the other? You gad straps on driver side yes? Next tyme use straps up front L/R and chains in the rear? Hope it helps. Retired Fuel Hauler 3/88
Truck an trailer looking good Dan , Little baileys getting fat 😂 What I would have done with the air conditioners , I would have cross tied them , Right side to the left / left side to the right on the front and back and they will not move anywhere ,🕶 be safe take care yourselves DAN
I try to use a short chain with a hook and binder on each corner, if you run a chain thru the corner holes to the other side and hook to the rail it has a tendency to slide some on the deck.
Thank you Dan for excellent videos. Always enjoy seeing your travels and adventures! It was entertaining to see that you were picking equipment up at Fort Bliss. Our Grandson who is in the Air Force is stationed at Fort Bliss. Wishing You and Bailey safe and Blessed travels! 🙏🙏
Hi Dan are you going to swap out your binders for the new ones where you use a impact wrench to tighten and remove them? also no problem on knees, I've had both mine replaced, they get you up and walking the same day. Thanks for the video, take care, see ya on next one.
I was looking at your tie downs and it looked like the ones on the left side were pulling forward and back while the right side chains were pulling straight sideways so the units were moving to the right side which caused the chains to loosen. Wouldn't the right side chains be considered one point of securement? The way the chain is used provides two points but securing both ends with the same binder to my thinking makes it one point of securement. If the binder fails, both the front and rear chain are loose. On your batteries you might want to check the cables. I've seen those flat terminals break inside the plastic. We had a truck with three batteries where only one was connected and it would overcharge that battery. Many RVs use 2 sets of batteries and a battery isolator so when the engine isn't running, power is only drawn from one set and there will always be battery power to start the engine or the APU from the second set of batteries. The isolator allows both sets of batteries to charge when the engine is running. If the isolator fails, it can cause one set of batteries to overcharge.
Hi Dan, I think those short straps are stretching, since it seems the most likely, than the steel chains, unless the load binder ratchet locks have vibrated loose to loosen chain side. Take a measuring tape out and measure the tie downs after tightening and see which get longer. Hi Teresa, Bailey and coordinator...
Danny boy, I think you need 4 independent points of securement on the right side of your load, the way it looks to me, on both units on the right side is, it is anchored to it self, not actually secured to the trailer, even though chain passes under the side rail, in reality the point of anchorage for the right rear corner of A/C unit is the right front of A/C unit, and vice versa. Just my observations and opinion, from a former "Loadmaster".
Hey Dan I've watched for years but I recently started my own channel and I also start cdl school tonight. I've worked in the same shop welding and fabricating for 31 yrs. Always wanted to be in a truck but it wasn't in God's plan so I've had a chance to go to school at night to get my license. Not sure what's next but I'm excited. Love your channel , Dixon boy

Hi Dan, I have a question about when your talking about putting on tires and you say double coin. What does double coin mean? Thanks and love your videos.
What if you used a boomer on each corner with the one chain? That way the pull is fully on the corner of the unit instead of a center pull that's pulling on both corners
Nice to see a Supertrucker Dan video first thing in the morning

If you ever need tires when you're in Calvert picking up Southern Tires are the main tire supplier here in Alabama

Nice hair cut
Hallo from Albania
Remember Kale was giving away a bunch of those ⛓ chain end straps...he might still have them 😏
Always have great videos, always something. You seem to have good luck with only repairs of maintenance
I remember not to long ago you had that problem with the forward set of batteries
i checked the straps on the flatbed that passed you - they looked ok
Safe travels Dan

I'd say you should count your blessings to be able to deal with batteries close to home!
Always loved military loads.

🚂🚂🚂🚂 very good. Nothin but the best
Ya be careful, I'm 55 and jumping or falling even off the steps of a truck could end up bad . Be careful and have a good one

I live in lucedale Mississippi but I work in Saraland AL.
I'm about 20mins south of Calvert where you pick up steel coils.
Surprised to see the black shirt, usually wearing hi-viz colors.🗽🇺🇸🚛
I wonder if having chains pulling away from the corners rather than into the corners might help.
Airborne tuck and roll
You need a train horn for the truck Dan.

I used to feel like I was forever changing batteries. My home base is on the Canadian border. So that didn’t help. 😂
Dan, what do you think of super single tires?
