i bought mine new in 1985 in mobile alabama. it also was red but i have customized it by installing a kick start, new exhaust, 14 inch handle bars and a black paint job w/flames. the narrator of this video mentions it has a 5.5 gallon twin gas tank, but mine is 3.5 twin tank
@@rudeawakening3833 no, it's a shovel. i bought it brand new in '85. it's an '84, but sat on the show room floor for almost a year before i bought it. sat on the show room so long they had to put new tires on it 'cause they had flat spots that gave a horrible ride. still have it. same exact bike in the video with the exception of the rims. mine are spoked. was red new but since then had it painted black
@@franknigro7023 wow ! Nobody actually “ keeps “ their ride that long ! Good for you , bro ! And to THINK that everyone was all goo - goo over that new aluminum “ EVO “ and ignored it on the showroom for a year !
hey my dad has one of the red versions he bought in 1985 in Amarillo texas its customized right now but not so much it cant go back to stock we still have all the stock parts for it and it could be put back to mint condition
This is almost identical To mine, but mine had wire spokes, This is how insane prices have gotten , I got mine for $9500 off the showroom floor. I rode it for 3 years then sold for what I paid to buy a plane, but sometimes I regret doing that. Now I'm 77, with Cancer and Parkinson's or you'd have a buyer right here. if I had noticed the video 6 years ago lol, Great buy for whoever got it
@@jamesleystra1066 Get to it. Shovelhead clutches aren't tricky. For what it's worth, If you can't do most of the work on that shovelhead, than I would think twice about riding it much. There just isn't a lot of shops around that will work on a shovelhead. But if you can change a tire on a car, you probably have all the skills you need . That and a manual and a parts book. The upside to this is , the looks you get when you drop the kickstand at the gas station. Much luck brother
Sorry Larry, I stand corrected. However you are absolutely correct in regards to this being the finest example of this model available. You have the finest classics in the world.....

I’m still not sold on the shovel heads, but these older bikes sure look great. I prefer the older look compared to the new stuff.

original tires and spark plugs? damn, was that locked in a time chamber fresh out the factory? haha sweet scooter!
Give me that bike and I promise it will not look that good that long. I'm a rider. That said. That's one sweet ride.
I have the exact same bike been sitting for 10 years without riding. Needs new clutch. Was my father's when he passed. I plan on restoring it
