That finished floor always gets you on the stringer build. Nice work with that potable saw. Used to be a man with an axe who was the one to watch but now it's that potable saw.
What I like most about your videos ,you take the time to explain
Thanks
Nice stair stringers straight as a string.
I would have really liked to see the methods used to get power behind that glued-on foam board…. As a master electrician, it’s of great interest.
Excellent work and great solution on the stairs Donavan.
As always an education. Excellent information Donovan. Thank you.
Progressing right along. Nice work, Donavan. Thanks for taking the time to actually explain what you're doing. Keep the videos coming!
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Thanks
Where I am it’s 7 1/2 x 10 minimums on rise & step. I wish we could do that cause that is very workable! Nice job!
Normally we are but this city has a Provision for this
Great progress Donovan🙂
Looking good! I'd never be able to work out the geometries of that stairwell without drawing everything up in AutoCad.
Great Video!!!...I absolutely love your content Donovan!
7.31 was that 7-5/16" rise?...
I had a similar scenario on a set of exterior stairs going up the back end of a gambral roof with 1' overhang...
The old set stairs were 8.375 rise and an 11.25 run...
My new set were 7.128 rise and 11.25 run...that added 2 steps to the new stairs pushing my run out 28" from the original stairs...
That opened up a safety Hazzard coming up the 2nd- 3rd step and coming in contact with the gutter and the 1' overhang...
You turn an obstacle into a challenge/ I was Blessed that the solution came and more importantly approved by the building inspector.
I incorporated 36" Barrier wall that was 10' 5" tall...it had a Japanese/ Northwest architecture to it in design along with a table the opposite side of the stairs to give the Barrier wall some stability as well as functionality...
The festool saw guide is really top notch with the adjustable stops!
Keep the videos coming...
Thanks
Really Interesting - thanks.
Need to say - it’s ‘heighT’, not ‘heighth’
:)
good job
Great to know if you have stairs in your property
Stairs done correctly.
Thanks
First of all I love your work and content on the channel, one question I have for you about connecting the basement ceiling to the floor joists above, wouldn’t you get deflection through live lodes on the floor joists or don’t you think there would be enough to worry about?👍
There’s not enough deflection to worry about if the first floor is framed properly
Looks good. I would be curious to learn why you used what looked like a few steel studs horizontally around the beam?
Yes it was easier to frame with metal for that area many time for soffit I will use metal
@@donavanshomes interesting, I have never purchased or used any metal studs. I’d be happy to see a video of you explains the basics and how you use them. I don’t see anyone on RUclips using them, or explaining when they are handy.
@@nrehberg next time I frame with metal I will talk about it more
I'm bidding a stair rebuild to the basement for the same exact reason you did this one. Can you tell me what you charged so I can compare?
Labor rate can very greatly depend on where you live. I did spend the better part of a couple of days for the replacement .I did to do some reframing in the stairway also. With materials also large difference, using regular 2x12s vs the rim board I use, $30 vs $100 per stringers
I don’t get it. The bottom rise is very small?
It will finish the same as all of the rest
I assume once the door is installed that the tread won't extend into the opening, yes?
The doorway is moving
@@donavanshomes Ah, that makes sense!
👋
so this series will only be recaps of what was built? You don't seem to show any work at all.
I love ya brother, but "heigth" doesn't exist.
