Just bought an old w7pf, was looking for videos like this prior to using it. Excellent job architecturally on the home
had a contractor call me 2 days ago. he needed 6 ft of chair rail that he can't get anywhere. I had to explain to him that I would have to have custom knives made @ about $200-$300 for the knives and an hour of shop time for $150. on top of that it would be a 2 week turnaround to get the knives. I think he quickly realized that he could replace all the chair rail in the room cheaper than making a 6ft custom piece.
The same happened to me but with a family member when their basement flooded..they needed 15' of obsolete base..I told them it would cost over $200 to match it with me doing it for free...they just didn't understand how it could cost that much...needless to say I didn't make it for them lol
good to see you again Donavan. Excellent match on the molding my friend.
Awesome! I have the same machine. Recently I was able to get cutters made to match a customer’s cabinet doors. Impressive machine!
Beautiful work . Interesting machine compared to a spindle molder which is vertically situated(toupie in French,)...cheers...rr Normndy, Fra.
You probably knew this but Williams & Hussey knives come from Wisconsin Knife Works. Great little machine.
That i think has changed after the sale and move of the company to Iowa where they are located now
Know how plus technology equals success and happy customers.
This is an amazing little nachine. I hope you will show us any elaborate trim jobs you are commissioned to do now that arched casings and ornate profiles are part of your portfolio.
A lot of folks don’t remember that Williams an Hussey made a wood lathe back in the mid 1980’s. I own one. For some reason, the discontinued them in about 1990 and just went strictly to manufacturing the W&H Planer/Moulder.
I’d love to know more about the William Hussy Lathe….photos….used machine for sale etc….?
Can you make tongue and grove flooring with a William and Hussey?
Thank you
Not really
How do the knives locate? Did I miss that? Two bolts but no pins?
There’s a raised lip on the backside of the shaft that the knifes index against along with the bolt holes
So the bolts act as pins. That's interesting. I saw the back lip, but I'm surprised two bolts are able to keep the knives in the same location axially. If it works it works. @@donavanshomes
Is that an integral gutter system on the house?
Not on this home if it was a few years older I could have
