  • Old basement stairs were functional but could stand to be improved. New stairs eliminate the half-step at the bottom and have enclosed risers.

These stairs are directly touching the cement wall, wouldn’t it rot over time?

you left out the good part, getting the stringers in place.

can you explain why you didn't make the steps 90 degrees? Or maybe better asked, the rise not perfectly vertical? I like the look and I'm imagining it could give a little extra space for toes on your way up the stairs?

It allows for a full size tread on a shorter run, useful for a steeper than typical stair.

@@charlesnoble8917yuh but you're sacrificing being up to code...

Basement steps, imagine how small the trees would be otherwise in that confined space.

We have to have a 90 (Lshape) staircase going to basement. Two of the floor joists have to be removed to allow for head room. Do the headers that cap off the floor joists have to be supported by a wall under them, or can I keep it open?

What did you make the treads from?

Your rise and run are obviously incorrect
    You are not a carpenter
    You are a handyman
    Garbage job
If original staircase was not available
    You would not be capable

@@francozampettihonestly I'm not a carpenter but I do know how to build stairs. Idk why he cut his stringers like this, they can't be up to code....

You're crazy, old first step was like 3 inches then the rest prob 9... he built them to fit the space. 6ft ceiling. Those are fine unless you're doing the limbo and run them out more🙄 biggest tread with most comfortable rise keeping the largest size tread at that preset angle. You must not be good with math😂
