Dr Rowe: Ben: I have arthritis & Baker cyst on my LEFT knee, When I go to the gym, I ride the stationary bikes & I peddle backwards. Does that help my knees, like walking backwards? Also, if I use the stair master, will that help my knees too?
I don't know anyone with bone on bone knees that can get into a kneeling position. Clearly you do not have bone on bone knee pain because it prevents you from bending your knee as far as you are bending your knee.
Possibly try it? His exercises have helped with my back pain and hip pain. Some people are just too lazy to help themselves and want somebody with a magic wand to fix them 🙄
@@tonicooke204 I'm really glad it worked for you. My issue is that bone-on-bone describes a condition in which not only the meniscus of the knee has deteriorated but also the hyaline cartilage that covers the femoral and tibial condyles. All the decompression in the world cannot fix this condition. In the past the condition was managed with knee replacement surgery., however, there are some new techniques that are less dramatic. Good luck with your knees.
The information you are sharing is priceless and i really thank you for that. Wish that more people could appreciate that and stop the toxic critiques. We healthcare workers are only being judged and only appreciated by few...
Hi, Thanks for the information it is very useful for many people. I don't think anyone is suggesting a complete cure, but exercise does help, and strengthening the muscles around the knee and the leg/hip, while also increasing flexibility is definitely a good thing. The alternatives are surgery, putting up with pain, or a sedentary lifestyle (maybe with painkillers). So give it a go, after all, what do you have to lose.
You said it all. I find a lot if people with osteoarthritis just accepting that there is no help. I cannot accept it; I enjoy wakiing, dancing etc. too much. I need to help myself, as I'm just coming up to my 53rd birthday and knee surgery needs to be the very last resort for me.
Wow, thank you. You are the best at demonstrating and explaining helpful movements for those of us who may not be able to afford in person physical therapy. THANK you for all you do unselfishly for humanity. Namaste.
I have a osteoarthritis mostly from a severe genuvalgum to my right knee. Would these exercises have to be modified for use, or could they be used as is to open the knee up?
Dear Dr Michael Rowe 🌹 Good evening 🌆 This is really a very good exercise....it did help me ... yesterday I had a long hike and I was feeling a little pain in my left knee. Now I am relaxed. Regards 🌺 Shahid Nadeem SN
Omg! This helps so much! Damaged my knees w a hard fall on concrete, dr said I damaged the cartilage. One knee done after a year( bad arthritis), other needs surgery, but new Dr keeps saying it’s not time :((, so this helps so much, thank you!!!❤️ I’ve asked what exercises to help, but you e been the only help and sound advice that works!!
So excited I ran across your videos today. I am starting them today and soooo hope my bone on bone in both knees get to feeling better. I do have a question should I be taking a collagen supplement. Do you believe you can build more collagen for my back and my knees.
That was awesome ! I occasionally have trouble with my knee -I’m in the fitness business , those are cool exercises. I will definitely try those when my knee bothers me. Thank you 😊
Your videos have been helping me so much. I have been off my feet for months after tendon surgery. I’m so tight and painful everywhere. Thanks for offering your expertise as it is so hard to get a physio here in the UK ❤️
Thank you so very much. What happened to exercising diet and preventative care, rhetorical question. Now they just jump to invasive expensive surgeries $$$$$ Thank you Dr. For being here with us during these challenging times God Bless you ❣❣❣🌷🌷🌷🌷🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Question will strengthening exercises help also? Do the bones actually hurt or is it the structures around the knee including arthritis. Have had Rt AcL and Lft menuscus some arthritis lft knee hoping to avoid knee replacement.
Doctor Rowe, thank you for these videos. I am 69yrs old and I have bone on bone knee pain in both knees and trouble with sciatica pain. your videos have helped me considerably. I would come to your office for help but I live in Bakersfield, CA. Thanks again for your instruction. I am under the care of Dr. Fadi S. Saied, D.O. and Landon Todd, PA-C at Southern California Orthopedic Institute/UCLA. O need knee joint replacement for both knees but my BMI is too high. I go to them for knee injections every 3 months.
Ooh, we share the same two conditions you have mentioned. It is tough, isn't it? Especially when, like me, you live on a home on a steep hill, and have a few flights of stairs to negotiate and no lift (elevator). When both knees are just as bad, and the sciatica is quite literally kicking your butt, abd the hip and back arthritis is joining the party, it feels hopeless, coming across such detailed exercise feels like a light at the end of a painful tunnel. Best of luck to you on the journey to healthier, less painful living 😊
Omg 😱… I am glad n thankful that you showing this knees exercise my husband needed this workout n especially u show the right leg to ..right on ..😊😊😊👏👏👏👍👍👍I am already super excited..you r the best ..
i decided to give the thumbs up and subscribe because your vids give direction and explanation of exercises without begging for subscribers and wasting time with unnecessary crap. Great job, you are actually helping ppl.
Thank you, doc...71 retired and sitting too much has increased pain in my already sub par knees. I began walking again since my dog passed and began a self-made exercise plan that I was pleased to see some of the techniques included in your video. After a long three months of this I'm beginning to feel I'll be able to get back to the gym and bowl competitively again. I have noticed in your video that there was no muscle building with force or weight applied to the joint. That was my huge mistake. As you demonstrated, the knee joints have to be seperated to function with less friction. On my way!!!
Man like the door traction. I tried the decompress for the knee a week ago but it was fairly far and the chiropractor wanted me to come three times a week? That’s just for one knee, I have bi lateral knee problem!! But these are great!!
Lol...for the door exercise once im on the floor im never getting up again. Its impossible as bad as my knees are! Thank you for the other ones. It will help.
I haven't been able to get on both knees in years the pain is to bad. I had nerve ablation and that didn't help. I don't see any relief doing any exercises or stretches. I've done knee sleeves, knee bands, Voltaren gel and pills. Nothing helps..
you are doing excellent 👌👍 job well done it's really very helpful to me and Manny other like me please share some exercises for my painful feet especially sides of feet
I appreciate your helpful videos. Can you offer suggestions how to perform traction on the lower back for relief of those bones rubbing together (spinal stenosis and degenerating discs)? I've had a therapist do it, but I'm not sure how to do it alone. Those bands might work, if you can show us how. Thank you.
These vidoes are great but unfortunately the knee traction is too painfull for me..both bending and bed traction. Perhaps there is something else going on with my knee.
My knees drive me nuts! At night only when I'm in bed. Pressure. Can't help but crack them. I wedged a tennis ball, behind my knee and finally got some long term relief. It hurt like a mofu.
I have got bone on bone knee pain. There is no way I can kneel, or bend my leg more than 90 degrees. The pain would make me vomit. Also my knee is very swollen. The only cure for bone on bone pain is surely a knee replacement? I love and am envious of the way you have full mobility - try doing those exercises if you feel like you've got a hot knife through your knee joint!
I have knees that will not pull inward? Docs say because I have no cartilage? So I would love to try towel but cannot get leg beyond 45% degrees! I’ve seen the towel before but couldn’t do it!
I only have knee pain when sitting cross legged... Can't do it comfortably on the right knee only....feels locked and painful on the right side of the right knee when sitting cross legged. Is there any stretch for that, please?
Thanks will do. They went allllthecwaaasy out a few June 16th this year alllll three way bone knocking bone excruciating see starts pain. With the second exercise is it sciatic nerve friendly.?

I love the way these doctors want you to bend your knee. It’s a joke.
That knee bend stuff is painful but the other exercises help me.

Exactly!! If I could do that, clearly I’m not in excruciating pain.
Looks great, but how do I get up off the floor after the exercise?

There is no such thing as non-surgical relief of bone-on-bone pain relief. Nothing but mumbo jumbo.

Hi Dr Rowe, any chance you could mention particular excercises that are good for hypermobility.
I have a osteoarthritis mostly from a severe genuvalgum to my right knee. Would these exercises have to be modified for use, or could they be used as is to open the knee up?
This really helped thank you!

I can walk, but cant kneel down without pain.
