DOUBLE CIRCLE SKIRT (PATTERN MAKING & SEWING) / #faldacircular
In this tutorial, you will learn how to draft the pattern for the DOUBLE CIRCLE SKIRT and learn how to sew the hem of any kind of circle skirt using a Horsehair Braid.

this is super helpful! I know that if you make 2 double circle skirts and gather them up to a waistband, it could create a really floaty skirt if you're using light fabrics and its very Marilyn Monroe since you can get all that volume and lift if the fabric is very flowy but not sheer (think of a lightweight silk with an organza lining for stability). I hope to use this tutorial for my gowns and sleeve flounces since I think it will make my designs look very fantasy and elegant.

Can I do the catch stitch only on the inner lining of the skirt because I'll be using two fabrics orgenza and cotton underneath orgenza , will it work or I'll have to stitch both fabrics together while stitch the horsehem?

Hi! Thank you for you video and I know its a few years old but do you know about how many yards of fabric is needed for a full length double circle skirt for the size of your dress form?
In this type of skirt if you make the back longer will it still have the same beautiful flounce look?
Oh yes of course it will, you just have to cut it in a different way though
I would absolutely love to make this skirt but my fabric isn’t wide enough for the length I want to cut it out as a full circle skirt. How would I calculate the waist radius if I wanted to make a double circle skirt with 4 x half circles? Or if I made it as a 1 and a half circle skirt with 3 x half circles if that’s a thing? (I’d love to still have side seams so I can add pockets)
If anybody can help with this that would be appreciated. 💕

Google "By Hand London" they have a circle skirt app which does the math for you with cutting and marking and seam allowance guides.
Love your guided pattern making tutorials. I have a question, I'm making this full sized so 43 inches long, but when I fold the fabric (the fabric width is 60" wide) the fabric becomes really short and the pattern paper hangs of alot? I don't think this method works for skirts as long as 43inches? Please advise xx

Thank you so much for the tutorial!!! Unfortunately, I can't seem to find fabric wide enough for my pattern. :( It appears I'd need something at least 120" or 10' wide for full length. Any tips on how to get around this or where to find fabric with wide dimensions?

I would say 6-7 yards depending on your side and length and if you make dress vs skirt

Yes of course, you have to widen the waist in order for you to insert an elastic I think I did that on the tiered skirt tutorial you can check that out

It's a math formula used to determine the radius of a circle.
The circle is your waist measurement + seam allowance.
For a half circle skirt divide this by
Pi (3.14).
For a full circle divide waist measurement by 6.28 (which is 3.14 * 2)
For a double circle skirt divide your waist measurement by 12.56 (this is 6.28 * 2)
