    Why ÷by 6,28? This is so helpful I'm trying to understand why that amount please

    • @drapingclass101
      @drapingclass101  9 месяцев назад +8

      Ok, so pie is 3.14 and it has a symbol like this (tt) and radius symbol is (r)
      There is a formula that never changes for a full circle skirt
      Here the basic formula for a circle circumference C=2ttr
      But we need the radius of the circle skirt so the formula is
      Circumference divided by 2tt
      So here is a example
      Circumference of a waist is 28 inches
      2tt is 2 times 3.14 which is 6.28
      28 divided by 6.28 =4.45
      This is a algebra math problem. And I understand how you feel about really understanding where it came from. But to really understand it u would have to look it up in math algrebra tutorials to get to the bottom of it. But just remember it’s a formula that never changes so you will always remember to use 2tt which means 2 times 3.14 which is 6.28 I wish I can help you more I taught Algrebra to students who wanted to get their high school diploma but I can’t really explain it while typing lol sorry. I hope this helped you a little 🙂

      Just to add, if this Math seems too complex to you, know that there are circular skirt calculators online. They even calculate how much fabric you need, once you have input the accurate measurements.
      To use it, you must equally understand the concept of calculating Pi( standard formula). However, the best I can do is explain in simple terms.
      -if you want to input measurements for a cicular skirt in the calculator, you decide if you want your skirt to have side seams and back seam.
      So in the case of a 720° skirt which is 360°×2, you divide your waist into 2 and label FRONT and BACK. FOR Example, my waist is 32" which divided into 2 gives me 16
      If FRONT is 16+2 (side seam allowance for left and right side)= 18.
      I input that in the section of the calculator that indicates "CIRCUMFERENCE" (Note: you are assuming that half of your waidt for Front is a full cicle so that it can calculate the radius of a full circle). Once it calculates I note it along with how much fabric is requires.
      Then I do the same for the BACK
      16+ 2" (side seam allowance LEFT& RIGHT)+ 2" (Center Back/Zipper allowance)
      [16+2+2=20]
      I input that in the "CIRCUMFERENCE " box on the calculator as well as my desired length of the skirt and voilà!!! It calculates for me.
      For online circular skirt calculators you can check out:
      -anicka.design (she has detailed explanations and illustrations of the results too)
      -byhandlondon.com (it illustrates how you can fold fabric to achieve desired results)
      In fact, a hist of them are online so explore and find which ever workd for you.
      As our teacher says, PRACTICE, PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!! ❤❤❤

    Do you think it will flare nicely only if I do a full circle skirt?

    • @drapingclass101
      @drapingclass101  3 месяца назад +1

      A full circle is ok if you’re not looking to have it flared out, but if you want it to have more volume then this is good. It also depends on the fabric if you make a full circle skirt with stiff heavy fabric it will have a flare however if you made it with stretch or a fabric or a woven that is light the full circle skirt will look flat and simple. I made this skirt with Cotten fabric and in the thumbnail of the video you will see how it looks before the crinoline and lining is put inside. So the fabric plays a row in it. You can still make a full circle skirt and put crinoline and lining but use heavy fabric. Hopefully this helped ❤️

    Hello, I just wanted to ask if this would work for longer length skirt and how would I then cut the crinolin for a longer skirt to make it look the same as the skirt in the video. Can I use the horse hair of any width?

    • @drapingclass101
      @drapingclass101  9 месяцев назад +1

      It could work for a longer length but I would use the organdy fabric (thick fabric) and sew boning around it like 6 inches away from each other so that that longer length can flare out. There are different widths in horsehair u can use 3 in and up for longer skirts if u want.

  • @SomSom-vw8ny
    @SomSom-vw8ny 11 месяцев назад

    Pls I have questions??
    The crinoline you ruffled was added one inch above the lining??
    2. You added horse hair to the hem of the Ankara…
    How many layers of horse did you add ?? Was it single or doubled

    • @drapingclass101
      @drapingclass101  11 месяцев назад

      I cut the lining 1 inch away from the circle skirt pattern after I did that I went up 1 inch from the lining. It’s so that the crinoline doesn’t touch your skin…u can do 1/2 inch instead of 1 inch as long as it doesn’t touch the skin because crinoline makes ppl itch.
      So for the horsehair I think I used 7 yards but that won’t be for everyone the bigger the circle the more horsehair u need…so if your waist is 31 1/4 or less than keep about 8 yards to be safe if the waist is bigger…then u will need more horsehair..buy 10 or 12 yards to be safe… the horsehair was single. Hope that helped ❤️

      For a low waisted skirt start with the basic pattern go down like 2” all around that will be the waistband after that cut it off then put seam allowance on top of the waistband. The bottom of the pattern u can slash and spread to your desire for flare.

    Why divide by 6.28?

    • @drapingclass101
      @drapingclass101  Год назад +2

      Hi, it’s a math equation (Algebra) we need in order to find out the radius of the circle skirt.
      So we have the circumference of the waist and half of the circle is called a diameter and half of the diameter is called the radius. That’s what we need (the radius).
      To calculate the diameter we need to divide the circumference of the waist by Pi.
      Pi is a symbol that stands for 3.14 (THIS SYMBOL NEVER CHANGES)
      Now the radius will be half of the diameter so it’s 3.14 times 2 (which is 6.28) so the symbol is 2Pi (THIS SYMBOL NEVER CHANGES EITHER)
      Which means you must divide the circumference of the waist by 6.28 to find the radius. I hope that helped you ❤️😊
