Secret Super Car Cave - the 'Miura Man'

- Welcome to Car Caves, where The Late Brake Show explores interesting car dens and garages. Episode 3 of this playlist visits Bedfordshire, where Kevin Johnson - aka Miura Man - opens the doors on his characterful barn conversion full of heavenly mid-engined supercars. This private tour was of huge interest, because Kevin (originally from Wales) owns the kind of supercars normally associated with vast collections. He is not a collector - he is a supercar driver.
Kevin bought most of his cars when they weren't particularly desirable - like the Ferrari F50 and Porsche Carrera GT. Successes in business 20 years ago meant he jumped from driving a Ford Sierra 1.8GL to buying his first Ferrari - a 456 2+2. Nothing in between. This began his journey into owning exotic cars with particularly charismatic drivetrains.
Check the chapters for all the cars in this Car Cave.

The cars are amazing, your presenting and video work was excellent but the star of the show here is Kevin. I could watch somebody talk about their collection the way he does all day, so much sincere passion and love for the engineering and craftsmanship & all the cars have a story and a meaning for him. Awesome video
Agreed. I have to say, the 250 GTE has somehow escaped my attention for nearly 50 years and I almost cried when I saw it! It is the single most beautiful vehicle I have ever seen. Thank you Kevin (and Jonny) for putting a smile on my face and a tear in my eye...
And a wife who appreciates AUTOMOBILES 🙂
@@HarryMollyNut wtf are you on about?
@@HarryMollyNut funny especially purple 💜, most British people wouldn't know what that is
Absolutely. It's seemingly so easy for rich people to also be arseholes, but Kevin has humility and humour.
Right, on to the next car cave - the benefits of being a latecomer.
"Not to be a dick, but I could have bought an original"
This guy is a gem. What a collection.
Just past that bit and thought the same , genuine guy just financially well off don't we all dream of being that?
Absolutely. Acknowledging how 'special' it is to have that kind of money shows a certain awareness and humility not normally associated with someone who owns an F50.
I gave an ugly Chuckle to this 🤣. I feel like he's the kind of guy who would take you for a spin if he caught you checking his car out in a carpark. People like Kevin deserve all the cars they have
@@darrylmac6150 Well said.
Humble!!
What a cool guy, no pretensions, just a petrol head with good taste.
TRT and swinger party's....
@@bjornmarley5670 Like I said, cool guy.
Having good taste isnt as difficult as having the money
@@Gaphalor He was honest about that though, didn't give any pretentions about being some six shooting, wheeling-dealing "entrepreneur" he said he got lucky.
@Matt Jarrett I couldn't agree with you more 100% correct. Very cool guy with great taste 😉👍
I don’t know Kevin, but I like him a lot. I couldn’t afford any of the cars he has, but I have no envy, I just feel like saying “well played sir” especially as he actually uses his fleet! The car world needs more people like Kevin.
We need more people like Kevin so people like you and me can actually have the chance of seeing our hero’s (the cars)
Couldn’t agree more. Such a bloody nice bloke, and you wrote it so well.
I cant even afford Kev's Tan , Awesomely amazing garage , Great guy too .
Best comment of the thread! LMAO
Made me laugh out loud….. so true!
Same. But he seems really lovely and thank GOODNESS he drives his cars. I really dislike the idea of these sitting unused in someone's aircraft hanger.
@@ian9outof10 yea broke guys like us who dont even own a decent car can only dream!
@@Gaphalor maybe one day, ehh :)
This guy is a real petrolhead with money, not like these rich posers who finance modern Lamborghinis just to show off in central London on a weekend for Instagram likes, this guy appreciates every car and drives them all, what a legend. Big money legend.
*Cough Cough Yianny Cough Cough*
Kevin is a dyed-in-the-wool car pervert! I respect that!
Agreed. This is the guy Shmee150 wishes he was but never will be.
@@ariescustom I was thinking the very same thing.
Let people do what they enjoy man. I understand the standpoint, but why hate?
Love when a real car guy has a collection like this. Kevin comes across great, would make a great presenter as his passion flows through him so articulately.
Wow! What a collection, the silver and red 250 gte is gorgeous!
They are all gorgeous. Even the garage is a gorgeous place.
It even has the chrome wipers. damn, so beautiful!
"you only have to be lucky in business once, and I was lucky" - selling himself short there I suspect.
Got to love someone who can describe Walter Rorhl as "having a funny shape".
So good to see someone indulging their passion without losing perspective
Modest and a nice bloke
No I don't think so... he comes across as self aware, not selling himself short. That is a much more attractive quality. There are millions of people that work their arses off, deserve what he has got, but didn't get that stroke of luck. I respect a person far more if they can accept that and appreciate it, compared to the dickhead that thinks they got what they have cause they are special.
He’s Welsh. Born with perspective!
@@justblairthompson Agree with you fully. Life is mostly luck. As much as wish it wasn't.
He's not. I've read a paper on the traits financially successful people have and according to it luck plays a crucial role. There's a set of traits that maximize the likelihood of being successful in business, but they don't guarantee it. Once you have them, the biggest differentiator was blind luck, doing the right thing at the right moment in time in the right place. People generally tend to attribute their successes to themselves (and failures to external factors). If you'll ever meet a successful businessman convinced he's found the recipe to succeed, he's either a victim of this fallacy or a liar. This guy over here is just being realistic.
I've met Kevin. Had a brew & a wander around his gaff/garage. He's a top bloke. Even let me drive the LB (which is why we met in the first place). That is a v special car, among all the others (even)..
Not sure if he's same fella but I was doing an MBA at Putteridge Bury in 1990 and was looking for a 512BB and there was a dealer at top of the hill in a nice wooden garage by the pub who had one but wouldn't negotiate at all as values were rising 15-20% at time
- in 1991 values dropped 25-30% so I was glad at time I didn't buy it, I lost a chunk on TR though...took until 1998 for values to start rising again and then they really took off from 2010 as we all know 🧐
You lucky, lucky bastard!😉
What a top man Kevin is. I recently saw his Stratos parked in a Pay and Display car park in our local town centre and nobody, man, woman, young or old could walk past it without stopping and having a walk around it. What a collection, every car is a dream of mine.
Wow,wow,wow,wow,wow!
I've only ever seen one miura on the road, and it was yesterday coming back from Bicester Sunday Scramble, had to follow it , then roll alongside it and view it my mirrors to take it all in . Fabulous moment. It may have been this car, if so ,Thank you Kevin 🙌
"If you want to be really Wanky" ... brilliant choice of vocab (in relation to leather straps for the Targa tops)
Thanks for confirming he said that 😂
I liked Kevin at "I don't want an SUV" then we see the Miura... I can only imagine the smell in that garage.
Stale jizz? I would totally understand if that were the case. (Apologies in advance for being so crude)
@@justblairthompson Huh I know a dude named Blair Thompson. Any chance you play basketball?
@@flightevolution8132 I am afraid, for various reasons, it is highly unlikely that I will ever play basketball.
There are not many of us around, but I am not the Blair Thompson you are looking for.
This guy is one of a kind and so is his garage. Love that he's fully into all of his cars. So down to earth and had me laughing all the way through. Some people deserve their life styles and he definitely does.
This man has good taste. A few V12s, the most beautiful sounding car ever (GT ), the most beautiful designed car ever (Miura), one the most radical cars ever built (Stratos)...damn what a exquisite garage.
Must be one of the best quotes ever from a man who loves what he drives “Not to be a dick but I could have bought a real one , but I’m not a driving god “ Goes to show that this man actually drives his cars and they aren’t a measurement of his success in life . How many would go on about their Stratos being an original, but being sh*t scared to drive it . Another top episode.
@@floki1664 You miss my point Floki , I’m not saying it’s not because of his success, he doesn’t treat them as look at these cars look how much money I have , like some do . Who as he says “put them in the garage and never really drive them “. And out of his collection he wouldn’t keep the F50 etc he would keep the Stratos that isn’t even a genuine Stratos .
If it drives like the original then it will still rotate about the gearstick!
It’s really nice to see a man enjoying his success and wealth, well done, and thank you for showing us your garage Kevin. A fantastic collection.
My best episode thus far! And what an informed collector Kevin is...simply wowed!
I’ve adored cars for as long as I can remember and this is the most emotional, proper, raw collection I’ve seen or could imagine. More of this!
He's very grounded in reality... And he drives a RS4 and not a SUV.... I like Kevin and his choices...
Me too!
Going for an estate over a poxy SUV shows the man really does have proper class!
@@GarryMcGovern Absolutely.
There are some good "Suv's - the G , Range Rover classic , jimny, wrangler, Toyota LC from the 90s and the bronco are the only ones I give respect to
Johnny, you were very respectful around the guys collection. I noticed you wouldn’t even open the doors or bonnet and left it to him. Well played mate. Cautious, but well played.
What a treat of a video! I also thought that was a DB6, but have now fallen in love with the Ferrari. Stunning car. The Carrera GT is my halo car, hearing that the F50 is 'on your side' makes it so much more desirable, and who doesn't secretly want to take the Lancia out to practise their Scandi flicks! Thanks Johnny & Kevin
Lovely guy, lovely lady. And you get better every day, Jonny. So relatable, so passionate and most importantly, so respectful and letting the people talk. Very good.
I've lusted after that man's Lister Bell Stratos before! What a champion for actually using those machines as intended.
1:54 "I dont want an SUV" Instant respect for that. Plus his entire collection is AMAZING
This is one of the best features on a car collection that I have ever watched. Kevin is so down to earth and is not afraid to drive his cars. Well done to all involved!👍👍👍
Passion is such an infectious emotion. This guy made me love all those cars nearly as much as he clearly does. Great to find a guy who drives them too, rather than just stares at them.
Hats off to the guy, he's living the dream!
Down to earth, non pretentious, intelligent, interesting and passionate man ( not you Johnny).
His wife is just as knowledgeable and they both have a love of impeccable engineering, elegance and practicability.
Loved it from the thumb nail to the tease of the drive out.👏👏👏.More please
HUH? which earth? LoL
Thank you, this brought back a memory from 1996/1997. A gentleman from Aberdeenshire had a Ferrari F50; his favourite tonic was a spirited drive through Glencoe valley.
His daughter used the car as daily transport whilst she was at Edinburgh University, the car had a Tubi-Style exhaust system fitted and I can still hear the car ripping through Edinburgh streets with tall buildings on either side early one morning.
It's testament to how well Kevin and Nichola came across that I'm not sitting here green with envy but glad that cars like those are in the ownership of genuine car enthusiasts - and being driven. Great stuff, Jonny.
I agree. What a lovely couple. Kevin comes across as so genuine too, he'd be a great person to get into business with because I get the feeling he wouldn't screw you over
I really enjoyed this conversation. No ego. Just a passion for nuts and bolts. Brilliant.
Always think of Matt Monroe "Days like these" from Italian job with the Miura, beautiful car.
The F50 along with all the collection is a thing of beauty, what I love about this episode is the owner is such a lovely guy, to be pleased to speak to anyone regarding his cars, wherever he may be (Filling station) I have so much respect for him. Truly nice man. Respect ✊
He’s got his health, wealth and above all else he’s proper down to ear. This car lovers is what you call a unicorn in modern day society. Fantastic Johnny 🙌
Kevin Johnson is just wonderful to listen to as it shows his pride in his collection and the knowledge he has for each one in phenomenal. He has a certain practicality to how he picks his cars and knows what he wants!
Enjoyed this, so interesting to see what people have, the variety and their reasons for owning. Big kudos to Kevin, it takes some balls to let the internet into your garage like this.
It really does Jason, glad you recognised that.
Top man Kevin Johnson, a ton of enthusiasm and passion in ownership and he really does drive them and not just let them sit there to appease the anoraks.
Absolutely gorgeous collection.
Thank you Johnny for showing these people that are attached to these wonderful pieces of automotive history.
Kevin is very humble and down to earth guy. I've had the pleasure of meeting him and getting a drive out in some of the collection. Absolutely 1st class guy 🏆
Some people do so well in life. This is a clear example. Absolute hats off to him, seems humble with it.
Be still my beating heart. He has an F50. Number one dream car for me right there. This man is a legend.
Awesome to see ‘y ddraig gymraeg’ 🏴on the back of all of Kevin’s cars…outstanding 👏🏻
What a guy, I'm glad Kevin did well at his business so that he could be a custodian of some truly amazing cars. Thanks for filming it for us.👍🏻
what a legend, wish more people who owned these cars were like this
Exactly this. Getting true enjoyment on all levels of the actual cars not their perceived images.
“There fun to drive slowly, if you have to be on it, to enjoy it then it’s just no good”
I have even more respect for Kevin than I did when this video started.. as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized just how true this statement is.. I’ve had my time going too fast (usually in terrible cars) getting into too much trouble with the law..
Now I have a daily 1.5 ltr Ford Mondao estate which is comfortable to drive especially over long distances.
I also have my heavily modified project which is genuinely only 125bhp but is the most fun on the Yorkshire back roads, you do have to “drive it” but it’s awesome despite the fact that it’s not the quickest, I love it.
Massive respect to Kevin who has clearly worked hard, has passion & not forgotten those roots, thank you for sharing your passion..
Of course once again shout to Jonny, you never fail to deliver awesome high quality videos, still by far one of the best car RUclipsrs out there
This was a great watch you two.
Thanks for bringing this to us Jonny and thanks to Kevin for sharing so openly his vehicles and his thoughts.
I have really enjoyed it and I will probably watch it again.
Given a different financial status, this is the kind of car collector I would like to be.
Oh man, what a pleasure to watch. This Kevin is a legend - smart (BSc in Molecular Biology from Edinburgh University and a PhD in Pathology from Cambridge University), tasteful and humble at the same time. Please more content like this!!!!!

I’m not really into these types of cars but I enjoy watching, and liked that you wasn’t constantly interrupting Kevin and being obnoxious like your old tall presenting partner . Most impressive for me, that stunning work shop/ lounging area/ bar.
FINALLY a guy who appreciates his cars for what they are AND uses them. 🙌🏻
Far too many know very little about what they have besides it being expensive and much less use them. This guy is a proper geek and I say that with admiration.
If I were to change one thing it would be the color scheme on the Stratos. In my humble opinion it would look much better in the tricolore colors. Other than that - brilliant!
I’m off to polish on my wife’s BMW 328 now… 😆
This guy is a legend a proper bloke who drives his cars.
Kevin is living the dream. And as others have said, seems like a thoroughly decent bloke. Great find Johnny.
Kevin is a working man's bloke , that's why I've loved watching him talk about is cars . Awesome video guys , keep up the good work 👏
One of my favorite car collection videos I've seen. KJ is a great guy, funny too. "After the Miura went to it's first, colorblind, owner..." Classic.
If all the metal on show isn't enough, you know this bloke is minted when he's modifying his F50... What a legend. Lots of rich people can be Nobby, but this guy clearly isn't. Good work Jonny
Well he did say he got it before the prices went through the penthouse roof, not to say that was ever a cheap car, but I don't think it would matter what price the car has/had, he wanted the car for the noise and wanted to hear more of it with that music highlighted in all the right places. Even if he bought this car now and it was the only car he had and saved up for it for ages, with the finances later available for the exhaust I think he would do the exact same thing. If he cared about it's value he wouldn't drive it, not to mention the only reason it's in his garage and currently staying there is because of the experience every time he drives it. The moment the odometer stops turning is the moment he sells it.
Without a doubt I agree with you though. He's a rare species of someone who owns a car to drive it, not someone who drives the car to show they 'own it', whatever form they want that to take, be it show off they have money or simply fake it (rental Lambos etc).
That Ferrari 250 GTE has got to be one of the prettiest cars ever made with those beautiful wheels.
everything is wonderful and outstandig but best one in my opinion is the Ladys voice (her style/ the rhythm/ the accentuation ).
jup👍.... the way she speaks is phenomenal.
greetings Marcel 👋🙂

Best 30 minutes on RUclips. 👏👏👏 to Jonny for the quality of the content on the channel, and to Kevin and Nicola for allowing access to an incredible collection, with an equally incredible garage!
What an absolute Legend Kevin is… No airs and graces, no pretension, just a real person who has made it and has a passion for cars! What I particularly enjoyed is how much knowledge of the details and how relaxed he spoke about the specifics! Oh and if he could only keep 1 of them - You rock Kevin!
Great episode Jonny…. Loving the content Mate! Swiftly gaining subscribers as you guys deserve!
Jonny. Love this video. Love to see someone like Kev actually use his cars. They are meant to be driven and so pleased to hear that he uses these cars as they were meant to be. Keep on delivering more videos like this. I own a Porsche 928 S4 that gets driven so appreciate his sentiment. Cheers Tony
When I read what cars were going to be featured in this video I thought, ‘well there’s got to be something wrong with the owner then’, uhh nope.
Really liked Kevin and his attitude, loved his cars, the Miura being my second favourite car of all time.
Another great video Jonny!
I enjoyed this video on many levels... 1. the owner & the owners wife are real, down to earth, passionate & opinionated car people. They both have distinct personalities, they both have their loves & their likes of each vehicle but, to allow us (the public) & a typical young man from Brooklyn, New York to walk in & around this garage, to see the details, the passion, to hear the stories... let me just say, this is one of the best parts about the internet of today.
To allow us/me to see who owns such an amazing & stunningly beautiful collection of rolling works of art... it's truly a treat & I couldn't say anything other than "thank you". You have shown me the sides of "why" you love what you own and to share it all is a very kind gesture. I really enjoyed what you've put together & I thanks everyone who made it happen.
When I grow up I want to be like Kevin. He's got great taste.
No, you want to be yourself.
Now that is one hell of a dream garage and such a down to earth guy too.
My Lord, the 4 seater Ferrari in that silver is just pure 60s film star spec. It’s utterly jaw dropping.
Wow! What a collection. As you say grab a brew and just look at the beauty around you. Amazing. Must say… I do love the Welsh Dragon on each car too.
Well done Kevin, amazing place and cars. However, don't the execs on mainstream channels watch and admire the quality and consistency of the material Johnny produces, week in, week out. This could easily be prime Sunday night telly on the beeb, instead of the usual garbage they pay millions for! Great work as usual Johnny, keep it up!👍👍
Now thats a man i could go for a beer with. Comes across as a Diamond
I've never seen a Carrera GT look so 'ordinary'. That Muira is painfully beautiful and the 250 GTE was to die for. Kevin has invested wisely and he's clearly enjoying them all. Good luck to him. Jealous? How could you like cars and not be jealous of that Muira!
I live just down the road. Can confirm he drives the wheels off all of them. Absolutely fantastic bloke and true petrol head.
My god, the sound of the Miura!!! I love the fact he went from a Sierra to a 456! What a lovely collection of cars.
Great work Jonny.
Thanks Jonny, Thanks Kevin & Nicola for letting us have a peek at your awesome collection. My fave? The 250, definitely. :)
I live up the road from Kevin and can confirm he makes the most out of all of his cars. So good to see them on the road
Total Respect to the man (Mr Johnson).
I loved his comments and frank openness about his ownership and still he manages to be a humble guy.
Who would have guessed the last question ? Not me thats for sure.
I'd certainly take the time to shake his hand at a petrol station for being a good 'ambassador' and driving these amazing machines.
I've been out on a few runs with Kevin and he's a gent. (And the Carerra howls through Hatfield tunnel!)
I met Kevin and his wife at a Pistonheads meet a few years ago when he turned up in his F50. Came straight over to me to chat about my Sunbeam Lotus before anything else. Top bloak and proper petrolhead
Love this cool guy genuine petrol head not just some rich guy, Jonny you chatting with petrol heads either in garages or on famous chairs is gold for me 👍
Thanks for sharing your cars Kevin! John from Australia.
Even Harry Metcalfe might feel a tinge of envy at this car collection! I can't imagine what these cars are worth.
Perfect, perfect garage!!! All killer no filler. Great video and great to see such joy and appreciation
I'm not into supercars (left those behind with the Athena posters on my teenage bedroom wall) but what a collection......and what a nice bloke. I completely agree with his comment about being able to enjoy a car when driving slowly though, and that's why I love American muscle. Another top episode though, keep 'em coming :)
Many thanks Paul. Kevin has a good point, doesn't he?
Wish I still had my Athena posters (tennis girl and 930Turbo) to put up in my garage now 😎
Can this channel get any better ? I’m in awe of this bloke Kevin having a wife who is accepting of his passion. He’s a lucky guy with exquisite taste. I too would take the GTE if it came down to one car. Great work Jonny 👍😎🇮🇹🇬🇧
"Fun to drive slow" and chooses the replica as the one car to have. Great car cave for a great petrol head.
I agree - Kevin clearly understands wonders of driving a true ‘driver’s car’. It’s far more about how a car invites you connect with it as the two of you navigate the pavement, than it is about what KPH / MPH the speedometer reads.
Kevin we see the Welsh Dragon everywhere on your cars. You need to get a Gilbern!
I’m lucky enough to have owned an NSX for many years and can relate to Kevin’s petrol station experience … as others have said, his passion for his collection is what we hope to hear, and using them makes me smile too … thanks for the video …
This channel continues to impress. Loving the Car Cave series...real cars, real people, real stories. Big thumbs up! 👍
Kevin has superb taste, that's for sure,

Great guy, I am happy for him, living the dream. 👍
Dude, only watched 20 secs and my jaw already dropped! Garage of my dreams right there
Can I just say, I 'bumped' into Kevin on my usual blat in my stepfront Alfa a couple of years ago. Kevin was in his Porsche. Invited me back to have a look around. Very nice guy. These types, unfortunately are few and far between. I wish him all the luck.
Just a stunning collection of cars. I'm lost for words.
I love how he drives his cars rather than seek to create a micro private museum for his own viewing pleasure.
This has to be one of the most enjoyable car videos I have ever watched, Kevin is a true enthusiast and seems like a real gentleman. I wish I could find that one business that I was lucky in starting. But every credit to him, he's gone out there and done it, and now he's reaping the rewards. Thanks for making the video Jonny!
What a top bloke. No rich bloke snobiness, just a wealthy chap with a lovely garage of cars. And he drives them! What a breath of fresh air. Bread video.👍👍
This is my favorite episode yet! What a decent guy, wife & garage.
