  • In this episode, we find Iain back down to earth in the workshop, introducing us to the Ferrari 456 GT, a V12 2+2 Grand Tourer currently in the workshop. After a brief history lesson, it's time to get under the hood and look at recovering some of the original power of this mighty naturally-aspirated V12 that has been lost in the 25 years since new. And it would be rude not to then take it out on the road to enjoy what this car has to offer!
Thank you once again to everyone for the overwhelming reception of these videos and for all the support of likes, subscribes and wonderful comments.

This Chap is the closest I've ever seen to being a true "Wise Man". His narrative is conversational and deeply informative as it is riveting to listen to. You learn and retain because you're not being talked down to as if you were an imbecile- too many "car guru's", talk down to us, but not this Chap. He is self deprecatingly efficient in his discourse and thoroughly absorbing. I, like others wish he did a daily edition. Thanks again and to Harry Metcalfe for seeding this channel.

And he is humble too. Many mechanics call themselves technicians, and when they have a workshop with $4,000,000 worth or cars they act like they have royal blood, and come off as sanctimonious pompous blowhards, and oftentimes have little info other than wikipedia stats, plus how great they are, with the emphasis on the latter. This guy reminds me of my last great mechanic who was born in 1910 and died in 1989. Since then I have been through 25 mechanics, one of whom gave back the car with no coolant (hence no overheating shown on coolant gauge, since there was no coolant to gauge), and it burned up the motor in one day. And of course he pretended like he did fill it with coolant and it was just time for that car to die of old age on that day.

As a kid I had a Bburago model car at my grandparent's home in exactly this blue spec. and couldn't wait to play with it, whenever we visited. One day, I saw it parked on the street in the town next to our village also in this beautiful blue. Remember it, as if it was yesterday. One of the most underrated Ferraris in my POV. I always loved it. Thank you for bringing back these memories. Amazing work. Keep it up. Greetings from Austria. PS: This gated shifter ❤❤❤

Really? I find him annoyingly smug and self satisfied like he's always pretending to be modest about what he knows - maybe it's the northern twang that makes him sound like an embittered Alan Bennett being passive-aggressive about his late mother - in tones that wouldn't raise an eyebrow in a "refined" tea room in Harrogate. Frankly, he grates on me.

Stockholm, Sweden: HM King Carl-Gustaf had one of these 456 in exactly the same colour as the one in this episode. HMK used to drive it himself quite often with the police in one car in front and another ahead of him. Remember him almost running me over in a crossing in the early 00's. HM Queen Silvia in the passenger seat looked quite baffled when I waved at them and smiled.

They climbed up in price in recent years (as everything else) but still great value for money for that prancing horse badge. Also, 4 adults can actually fit in it and has a decent sized boot, so it's quite practical if you need more reasons to convince the missus to buy one.

I imagine Iain, you were either on your way or travelling from Ascari, on the Ronda Road. I lived there for 12 years and I'm happy to say I made their first promo. I had many a 'race' with the boys on that road, which always begged respect. I once held off the Porsche boys in my van, only because I knew that road like the back of my hand - they saluted me when we arrived in San Pedro - great days.

My favorite Ferrari. The interior is so, so classy. It’s entire configuration, actually: 2 door streamlined coupe perfectly proportioned, V12 at the front, traction at the back, four comfortable seats and a tasteful interior. Just the perfect car!
