    It’s crazy how Iceland just changes so dramatically. I can’t believe that whole beautiful cave is gone! I’m glad you got that initial footage…

    I know I should shed a tear seeing the obituary but I really couldn't stop laughing 😂 2021- a year to remember for the droney....

      Haha don't be too sad, we got a replacement Droney thanks to the drone insurance we purchased. I just wonder if the SD card inside old Droney will still be usable in a decade or 2...

    Wow, such stunning footage once again- the colors on the ice and all the layers and patterns, just wow! Really loved the dramatic shot over the collapsed cave and the blackish ice. Must have been so fun to follow the changes over time! Super cool photos in the end also :) Poor Droney though.... at least he got to properly live his life and died on an adventure ;)

      Good point - Droney died doing what he loved! RIP

    Spectacular photo shoot shots! Amazing to see the changes and collapse of the Katla ice cave over the year as well as, sadly, the death of Droney 😱 But look forward to seeing how the new caves progress. 💙

    I was at Solheimajokull last year, the walk from the carpark was longer than when it was built due to it shrinking. A very visual and visceral sign of it shrinking.
    Kinda terrifying.
    Strange question, but what brand are your boots? They look like good ones!

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  Год назад +1

      I've also noticed a decent amount of melting since I started working there 6 years ago as well.
      The blue boots I'm wearing in this video are Garmont Tower LX GTX. They are my summer hiking and glacier boots. In the winter time I use a different pair.

    Thanks for sharing! How long is the drive to the cave

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  Год назад +1

      From Vik, the turn off point is only about 5 minutes. The drive along the gravel road can be between 40 minutes - 1 hour, depending on conditions.

    Hey guys, there are some amazing shots. I just wanted to ask, I see everywhere that you must visit katla with a group cause its dangerous if you do so by yourself. Is this true?

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  2 года назад

      If you have the equipment and knowledge you can probably do it yourself, assuming your car can get out to the parking lot. Even saying this, when filming a new episode by the cave I fell into some quicksand but luckily managed to get out with the help from a friend. So you need to be careful even when as experienced as I am!
      So your best option would be to go with a qualified guide until you know the area well enough.

    Bro can this ice accessible in June....

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  2 года назад

      It might be still accessible then... just not sure how it will look in a few months as things are warming up here now and the ice is beginning to melt again.

      Do we need a 4×4 ...I have booked a dokker ...

    • @VividIceland
      @VividIceland  2 года назад

      @@rohanbhadoria860 Yes a 4x4 is mandatory, the road is sand and gravel. Very easy to get stuck there, especially after rain.
