The PHD guy was debunked in real time while he was debating Destiny the first time when Destiny read, and directly quoted the guy's own paper. Holy shit after watching this whole discussion he is worse than I thought. Every time he gets called out on something he just tries so hard to change the subject, gloss over stuff, or deflect. All while projecting exactly what he's doing onto Destiny. I get not liking Destiny but jesus christ have some self awareness.

Maybe I'm missing the streams where he's admitting when he's wrong all the time. Imo, most of the time it seems like he's right lol. But yeah for simplicity just take the cookies for rockets part at 51:48. It comes across that he doesn't even truly believe the argument. Look how he reacts, he just jokes and doesnt even engage it. I don't feel like watching the whole thing over again but I don't think he tries to defend it or admit he was arguing just to argue for the rest of the call. that seems somewhat common in the us, with all minority groups, i don’t live in the us but ive seen many “latinos” that know jack shit about their own culture and have zero interest, this is made more weird by the fact that at least were i live nationality matter more then ethnicity, i always say that a chines guy born and raised here, who speaks the language, eats the food and knows the culture is more latino then any of these people, unfortunately this is starting to not be the case as us culture and ideology gets drip feed here until it becomes the norm.

The reason tribunals were done away with was because streamers communities could easily pardon the streamer any time they get banned and some were abusing it to break the rules far more than they otherwise would have.
Also the streamer themselves is going to care far more about their own ban & would have an inherent advantage in arguing their way out of it against somebody who does like 20 a day. The streaming platform has to factor in their staff getting debate perverted lmao

I would wager Destiny would make a distinction between a PLATFORM and a COMMUNITY. He probably feels it's okay to ban someone from a community for almost any reason, but a platform would be different. Getting banned from posting in the cat discord server is materially different than getting banned from Facebook, as an example.

They're in no danger of having left purity testing bullshit, and they've been going for years. Your life isn't really impacted negatively whatsoever being banned from individual communities on the internet, but getting banned from big platforms can be devastating. I wouldn't consider Destiny's reddit a "platform" as you do. Plus, Destiny unbans frequently. His community is quick to ban but also quick to unban.

I really want to watch all of these podcast videos, and the main reason I'm going to watch this one is that lonerbox is on. However, the cohost...never seems like good chemistry edit: yikes, its worse than I recalled- Dan's interruptions and bad timing with comments and derailments is pretty awful.
He also is consistently uninformed in every topic except some niche tech thing he did in 2008. He brings up topics, goes "what'd you guys think?" And doesn't know anything but the headline, so the conversation instantly dies and he pivots
Just to chime in on the music degree thing. There are a lot of degrees that require basically no actially playing of instruments. Also. Even with performance degrees. Many of these guys have never performed outside their classroom or asignments. They have no practical experience. Which is why many are encouraged to apply to sight reading, jazz, competitions, or join a smaller music group. For myself. I applied to basically every single pop up band I possibly could. Kind of got that ingrained in me because my teacher in high school would make sure I went to basically every joint band session in our community. They were pretty ruthless if you couldn't perform immediately, or you couldnt understand an instruction. Theyd demote your chair position or remove you. I was doing it all the time and would barely be able to keep up cause they pureposefully test your limits Many many people getting music degrees dont do this stuff until after they already have the degree. They are being set up to fail
That's interesting. Here in Germany you have to go through an entrance exam. You have to able to read notes and play an instrument to start studying music if you wanna go to a public university. (which is better than private here)

I don't know if it's just me but I feel like when HistorySpeaks joined; destiny was really rude and kept interrupting him even though he tells him to only speak to LonerBox. 59:20. Yeah I know that destiny hates when someone lies and wants to correct the lie by the other party; but still I don't like when parties get interrupted and you just have both parties interrupting each other. Not that it really matters here (since HistorySpeaks isn't a proper guest) but I felt like it was rude for Destiny to interrupt someone who took their time of the day to join the call, and wanted to talk. Also LonerBox felt super awkward/ didn't talk that much especially the first half of the video. I feel like when you have guest involved; it should be more professional and I felt this was a disappointing especially that you guys didn't really interact with the guest (LonerBox) compare to one with RA The Rugged Man. I also disliked how Dan just jumped from topic to topic really fast and each new topic didn't really correlate at all; also I felt this Dan was a pick me especially when HistorySpeaks joined: (58:49) "Hey you want to talk with me, want an easier target?" The tribunal was taken down because people IP farmed it. Basically everyone loaded it up waited the time and than pressed the ban button. It didn't help at all. 51:48 I think it is true that Destiny does this, he is an incredibly successful, independent, intelligent person, so naturally he also has a large ego(I do not mean that in the insulting way, but the psychological way). Given this, it would be natural and normal for it to be very emotionally difficult for him to admit mistakes, especially in the moment as he is probably aware he is making a mistake in the moment and is already feeling strong emotions about that fact itself, another thing that happens when you have high standards for yourself. Having said all that and knowing that Destiny is going to be defensive, using that fact as a bludgeon to attack him with in the middle of a podcast is quite literally the worst possible way to address that particular flaw. So Dan, I know it was partly a bit, but knock it off if you believe this is a real issue and have some empathy. For people with larger egos it is genuinely very hard to admit mistakes and the best way to get them to do it is to create a space that is comfortable and safe for them to do so. What comfortable and safe feeling looks like for Destiny I have no clue, he's a weird dude, but I'm sure he can figure it out. People are all different and have different strengths and weaknesses, it is important to admit mistakes and reflect on things you could do better, but that does not have to happen in the moment, it is ok to do it later, but it something that should probably happen, but I also think Desitny does already dod this, clearly others feel differently so maybe doing it more often would be good or more publically idk. Anyways, sorry for overstepping though I doubt this gets seen so its whatever. I have the ego issue and other people in my life have the same issue and trying to force that issue in the moment literally never works and only makes the problem worse, so it is frustrating to see that same mistake being made on a personal level. But I also don't actually know you guys or if this is a bit or an exaggeration or what not, figured I'd share some of what I have learned on the subject though since it came up. There were no Palestinians then. Judah existed. It was called Judea by the Romans who made it a minor province under the Roman Empire. Rome came back with a vengeance, and spent time going from town to town in Galilee subduing each, or killing those who did not bend a knee, then moved on to Judea, to do the same before besieging Jerusalem. A lot of Romans died and a hell of a lot more Jews were killed. Time moves on and Emperor Hadrian shows mercy on Jews and allows them back into Jerusalem but he wants to rebuild Jerusalem as a modern day Roman metropolis with a big old statue of Apollo. This pisses off the more devout Jews and war breaks out again. There is someone who was seen as the messiah, they start to rebuild the temple, start the sacrifices again, mint coins, but Rome once more comes back with a vengeance and this time, intend to wipe Judea off the map. The head of this Jewish rebellion is killed which means he was never the messiah because he did not fulfill their freedom etc. A lot of Romans were killed and a hell of a lot more Jews were killed. This is the Jewish diaspora to where many Jews fled this land. There on or about Rome rebranded the area Syria Palestine. It was made a minor area under the tutelage of the Legate out of Syria. The Philistines, a dead people, were never inland. They had roughly 5 city states on the coast, all of which later got destroyed. Gaza though is roughly where they were. I believe Palestine is supposed to be derived from Philistine. We then move on some hundreds of years later of the rise of Islam down in the Arabian Peninsula. These tribes banned together and we got the Arab Conquest of taking the entire peninsula and putting heavy taxes on anyone who were Christian or Jewish. All else had to bend the knee or fall on the sword aimed at their chest. This heavy tax made these Arabs rich and was also a means to force conversions. After taking Syria from the Byzantines they moved south towards Palestinia. ANYONE living there would have been referred to as a Palestinian. It was not a name of a people but of an area. Jews were not devoid in the area though. Their numbers just greatly reduced as many fled the area hundreds of years earlier with many move outside of the Empire's reach. Greeks had also lived in the area since Alexander and there were also many Greek city states. Over time with the Arab Conquest and the spread of Islam many converted. We then come 1000 plus years till today.

The reason tribunals were done away with was because streamers communities could easily pardon the streamer any time they get banned and some were abusing it to break the rules far more than they otherwise would have.

Just to chime in on the music degree thing. There are a lot of degrees that require basically no actially playing of instruments.
Also. Even with performance degrees. Many of these guys have never performed outside their classroom or asignments. They have no practical experience. Which is why many are encouraged to apply to sight reading, jazz, competitions, or join a smaller music group. For myself. I applied to basically every single pop up band I possibly could. Kind of got that ingrained in me because my teacher in high school would make sure I went to basically every joint band session in our community. They were pretty ruthless if you couldn't perform immediately, or you couldnt understand an instruction. Theyd demote your chair position or remove you. I was doing it all the time and would barely be able to keep up cause they pureposefully test your limits
Many many people getting music degrees dont do this stuff until after they already have the degree. They are being set up to fail

I don't know if it's just me but I feel like when HistorySpeaks joined; destiny was really rude and kept interrupting him even though he tells him to only speak to LonerBox. 59:20. Yeah I know that destiny hates when someone lies and wants to correct the lie by the other party; but still I don't like when parties get interrupted and you just have both parties interrupting each other. Not that it really matters here (since HistorySpeaks isn't a proper guest) but I felt like it was rude for Destiny to interrupt someone who took their time of the day to join the call, and wanted to talk.
Also LonerBox felt super awkward/ didn't talk that much especially the first half of the video. I feel like when you have guest involved; it should be more professional and I felt this was a disappointing especially that you guys didn't really interact with the guest (LonerBox) compare to one with RA The Rugged Man.

51:48 I think it is true that Destiny does this, he is an incredibly successful, independent, intelligent person, so naturally he also has a large ego(I do not mean that in the insulting way, but the psychological way). Given this, it would be natural and normal for it to be very emotionally difficult for him to admit mistakes, especially in the moment as he is probably aware he is making a mistake in the moment and is already feeling strong emotions about that fact itself, another thing that happens when you have high standards for yourself.
Having said all that and knowing that Destiny is going to be defensive, using that fact as a bludgeon to attack him with in the middle of a podcast is quite literally the worst possible way to address that particular flaw. So Dan, I know it was partly a bit, but knock it off if you believe this is a real issue and have some empathy. For people with larger egos it is genuinely very hard to admit mistakes and the best way to get them to do it is to create a space that is comfortable and safe for them to do so. What comfortable and safe feeling looks like for Destiny I have no clue, he's a weird dude, but I'm sure he can figure it out. People are all different and have different strengths and weaknesses, it is important to admit mistakes and reflect on things you could do better, but that does not have to happen in the moment, it is ok to do it later, but it something that should probably happen, but I also think Desitny does already dod this, clearly others feel differently so maybe doing it more often would be good or more publically idk.
Anyways, sorry for overstepping though I doubt this gets seen so its whatever. I have the ego issue and other people in my life have the same issue and trying to force that issue in the moment literally never works and only makes the problem worse, so it is frustrating to see that same mistake being made on a personal level. But I also don't actually know you guys or if this is a bit or an exaggeration or what not, figured I'd share some of what I have learned on the subject though since it came up. There were no Palestinians then. Judah existed. It was called Judea by the Romans who made it a minor province under the Roman Empire. As far as Arabs go, I do not recall any being in that area at that time. Not till the Arab Conquests happened hundreds of years later.

Now before the destruction of the Temple I believe at least one legion was lost, maybe two. Rome came back with a vengeance, and spent time going from town to town in Galilee subduing each, or killing those who did not bend a knee, then moved on to Judea, to do the same before besieging Jerusalem.
A lot of Romans died and a hell of a lot more Jews were killed.
Time moves on and Emperor Hadrian shows mercy on Jews and allows them back into Jerusalem but he wants to rebuild Jerusalem as a modern day Roman metropolis with a big old statue of Apollo. This pisses off the more devout Jews and war breaks out again. There is someone who was seen as the messiah, they start to rebuild the temple, start the sacrifices again, mint coins, but Rome once more comes back with a vengeance and this time, intend to wipe Judea off the map. The head of this Jewish rebellion is killed which means he was never the messiah because he did not fulfill their freedom etc.
A lot of Romans were killed and a hell of a lot more Jews were killed.
This is the Jewish diaspora to where many Jews fled this land. There on or about Rome rebranded the area Syria Palestine. It was made a minor area under the tutelage of the Legate out of Syria.
The Philistines, a dead people, were never inland. They had roughly 5 city states on the coast, all of which later got destroyed. Gaza though is roughly where they were. I believe Palestine is supposed to be derived from Philistine.
We then move on some hundreds of years later of the rise of Islam down in the Arabian Peninsula. These tribes banned together and we got the Arab Conquest of taking the entire peninsula and putting heavy taxes on anyone who were Christian or Jewish. Jews were not devoid in the area though. Their numbers just greatly reduced as many fled the area hundreds of years earlier with many move outside of the Empire's reach.
Greeks had also lived in the area since Alexander and there were also many Greek city states.
Over time with the Arab Conquest and the spread of Islam many converted.
We then come 1000 plus years till today.
