We always called the 300 "The poor man's diesel". Not fast, but will pull anything all day long without fuss. Seven main bearings and gears instead of a timing chain. They're just plain good.
This was my dad's truck. I really enjoyed your video and was happy to see it running again! My dad would have loved talking about all the details with you! He might not have approved of the donuts though. ;) Thank you for posting!
Hey thanks much for watching Janet! I'm glad to have the opportunity to own such a nice pickup! Based on what I've seen on this truck and around the farm your dad was quite the innovator and I would have loved to sit down and chat with him!
This is a nice old truck. That paint will probably shine up quite well. I like the simplicity laid back nature of this truck. It’s got it’s own personality. The gas tank probably needs a major service cleaning and the fuel line blown out. So far, need a rear axle seal, break light switch, fix what ever is howling in the engine compartment, newer tires, wiper blades and make sure the wiper works. And your golden. Probably need a new oil pressure sending unit. This is a truck you clean up a bit and just drive, use and enjoy.
1. Not a Y block - Check 2. Not a bad starter - Check 3. Not a small block Chevy - Oh well 4. No stuck valves - Check 5. No stuck clutch - Check 6. Nah, five is enough. Good job, dude. Duff should be proud.
Well I guess you don’t have to worry about the rear tires falling of that old girl! Plus with all that grease flying of them u joints you don’t have to worry about nothing rusting out ha ha the yokes on you duff 💪🔥 sling shot engaged!
As soon as he hooked it up I said to myself "wanna bet it's in gear" and it was. Starts fiddling with the points and I says to myself "shock coming" and he did. Damn nigh peed myself laughing, especially having done that myself once in a while. And then there was the time that I got my 16 year old son to hold a spark plug against the block to check for spark while I cranked the Camaro over while figuring it would start right up. It did, he jumped about 3 feet up and back screaming like a little girl. Don't know why but I think that he was upset with me, he's been scared of car wiring ever since, especially if I'm around. Got his big brother the same way working on his snowmobile that was mysteriously running on only one cylinder. Told him to make sure the plug wires were seated in place while it was running. Talk about light my fire, last time he checked his plugs with wet leather gloves on.
Thanks for another Mortske Monday. Thats a nice one. Its your effort with filming and busting your ass on a hot day...Say whatever you want. Take it easy🐾
@@MortskeRepair if you ever want to know the history on those 2 vehicles I can leave you my email. My dad worked on that farm for around 40 yrs. The blue pickup was actually an old Bell telephone company vehicle

If you are serious about building a mobile rig, this will probably be the best candidate you are likely to come across. It is relatively rust free, doesn't seem to have any major mechanical issues, and with all of the added goodies it has, it certainly has a lot going for it. Mortske driving around in a rig named Princess would be priceless. With the number of old Fords that you seem to find, it's not like it would be hard to find a seat, door, and mirror. This one is a keeper.
This truck reminds me of my dad's old 65' ford f100 (first year twin I beam) but our inline six blew up, so we put a 460 in it. Had our upholstery shop name painted on the door. Man I miss that old truck.
Just a fuel filter, replace the tall one and flush out the tank, but you knew this. I love your time and your ability. I wish I knew your hard working family. cause my family was hard working too.
This is a nice, clean, pickup, great paint for it's age, the shed storage saved the next owner loads of additional grief. I like it. Good lookin truck. And Damn....they never start and idle on the first time. Wow.....

The person selling it told me it was their dads and he bought it brand new. I rebuild old motorcycles so this would be the first large vehicle I would rebuild so I have been jumping back and forth on getting it.
I just bought a 1966 F100 daily driver [390FE, automatic, power steering, power brakes], there will always be a market for these, $700 is stupid cheap, go get it!!!

Had that year, was my old man's first truck and I got it after 6 years. Slow but dependable 240 3 speed on the column with no radio. You could hear the gas sloshing around behind the seat. Keep on Motoring brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
A few days ago, I purchased a 1985 Ford F-150 with the 300 engine with a 4 speed transmission. It has a similar valve noise to your truck with a very strong oil pressure. After a motor oil and oil filter change, The engine seemed to run even more smoothly and does not appear to smoke any at all with only some very small drips. One thing that I want to do is to change out the fuel filter just for good measure and peace of mind. My truck actually has factory AC that works. Someone rigged up the blower circuit and relocated the fan switch and used a black power cord directly to the starter solenoid for the power source with a crimp in ATC fuse holder. So far, I have had to repair/replace the 1157 bulbs and one new socket for the right rear taillight and also replaced the headlights with Sylvania Silverstars. Thanks for your great video.
I've never been a ford guy but the 300 inline 6 is one of the best ford engines I've ever had. They run forever even if you don't take care of them lol!
Every new Ford comes with a dog, so you have somebody to walk home with!
Bahaha that's brilliant!

That's a solid old truck. Digging the compressor and converter. She'd buff out pretty decent and make a guy a decent driver.
Another great video of Mortske. I wish I could find nice old vehicles like you find, in the shape you find them in. It's hard to find anything in decent shape up where I live in Northern New York. Whoever ended up with that vehicle. Got thereself a pretty nice ole truck. I'm not a big Ford guy, but you can't beat them old Fords. Then again you can't be a lot of them old vehicles. They just built them with pride. When things were made in the USA and people cared. One of my top five RUclips channels. Keep up the awesome content man. It keeps me coming back. Keep on Motoring brother!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Much appreciated!
Keep it! Pretty unique and cool.
That is a keeper. Very nice.
Looks like your new shop truck.👍
Excellent news and a distraction from kitchen renovation.
Glad to be of assistance!
Man that thing would be an awesome summer revival truck with the compressor and an awesome summer cruiser that is my dream truck right there
I've never been a ford guy but the 300 inline 6 is one of the best ford engines I've ever had. They run forever even if you don't take care of them lol!
That's what they say!
looks great. Id like to see a Part 2 (carb, tank, brakes, converter, headliner, shine up, etc)! Maybe a Puddin Power Wash. Cheers from Maine!
That F-100 is a sweet find, with that 300 six and other bonuses. A few tweaks and spit and polish, oh yeah !
