      Gamefreak rarely gives good moves to first stage pokemon (or second stage for that matter). Besides previously fully-evolved pokemon (Rhydon, Gligar, Sneasel, etc), a few gen 5 pokemon (Mienfoo/Timbur/Rufflet) and resolving past gen exclusive obtainable moves like Belly Drum Extreem Speed combo for Zigzagoon in gen 7, they almost never get an upgrade after they are introduced since gen 4.
      To name you a recent example, Sealeo doesn't get Swords Dance, Hydro Pump, Heavy Slam, Liquidation, Body Press as recent move additions that Walrein did get. The only move it got was Icicle Spear. Even something as simple as Rock Blast for Aron in contrast to Lairon getting that and Aggron getting; Sand Tomb, Rock Blast, Scary Face, Hydro Pump, Crunch, High Horsepower, Swift.
      Never mind moves like Earthquake or Stone Edge which are almost exclusive to fully evolved pokemon if not of the respective typing.
      Even if its quite simple to buff a pokemon into some relevancy, like giving Cubone/Marowak Head Smash as in singles, its "best" ability already is Rock Head in the off chance it wants to use with Double Edge. As it stands right now, either pokemon barely ever scraped by a snif of usage even in the lowest of tiers (Gen 6/7"LC UU" for Cubone) and NU in gen 6 for Marowak which even in that situation, just running Rhydon instead of Maro is prefered even for decicated Trick Room.

      IKR? In Pokémon Origins, when we see the mother Marowak alive with her child, the Cubone already has a skull, even tho her mother, who had a skull on herself, was alive next to him. Oh, and in the games you can breed as many Cubones as you want from the same Marowak, who will not die at all, and the babies are already born with skulls!

    • @TheGuyWhoIsSitting
      @TheGuyWhoIsSitting 3 года назад +2

      @@cintronproductions9430 because the lore predates Gen 2's breeding mechanic.
      Also I remember seeing some unverified sources that Cubone's skull on its head was because it was originally designed to be Charmander so they put a Charizard skull on its head as an "easter egg" if you will. Rather than Kagaskhan. Kangaskhan's head and baby don't really look much like Cubone to be honest.
      Then again, you can hatch a Kangaskhan and it has a baby already, and you can hatch a fully grown Snorlax if you don't use the incense to get Munchlax.

    Little Cup has a new legacy format for Gen 1 that started up. I don't know how long it has existed but people play Gen 1 little cup with trades from Gen 2 for better move pools and, you know, more Pokemon than just PIkachu, Rattata, Pidgey, Jigglypuff, Spearow, and the rest that can naturally be found in the wild. It also excludes glitch level 5 stage 1 Pokemon in Gen 1 for what I think are obvious reasons. It could basically be an anything goes format at that point.

    Err, Little Cup debuted in Gen 2 with Pokémon Stadium 2. Item Clause, Chansey and Scyther were allowed and Cubone was one of Scyther's few checks (it survived a +2 attack from it and KO it back with Counter or Rock Slide). In Gen 1, Cubone was allowed in Petit Cup, a format for cute Pokémon of levels 25-30.
    Petit Cup was played in many international tournaments in 2000 and Smogon has had tournaments of Petit Cup and Gen 2 Little Cup in the recent years, so I don't know where False Swipe Gaminig got its data from.
