Wow thanks for sharing, I've been driving my pick up truck for a few years with after market wheels, after watching your video i learned about hub rings, I got to be honest i feel stupid I did not know such things existed, I wish the guys at the wheel shop would have mentioned about this hub rings, but the hell, now i know, thanks again
Awesome I believe I finally find out the reason I’m still getting a vibration after balancing I do have aftermarket rims Thanks I’ll post a reply tomorrow if this works
I recently bought a E46 M3 with this problem of vibrations but I only found out about the rings from my service history receipts since a previous owner had the same problem 😅
the rims actually supposed to be supported by the hub and not the wheel studs. Hub centric rings are also supposed to retain the weight of the vehicle back on the hub again, which is why plastic and nylon centric rings crack and break over a short period of time. I'm eventually going to get some for my 1g so I can finally run my SSR koenigs!! just dont know what size I need.
That's not entirely correct. The Majority of the supporting force is due to the friction between the metal contact surface of the wheel and disc. Tightening your lug nuts to spec is what ensures this force is correct. The hub and therefore hub centric rings is mainly to align the wheel in the centre and ensure that the vertical load is not on the lugs.
Great video bro! I have 527s as well and have noticed the steering wheel shaking when I hit 110-120 kph. I'll get the same ones you've installed. May I know the diameter (mm) of the rings? Thanks!
Will putting these fix wheel wobbling ? I put bigger aftermarket wheel and tires on my car and they are doing this I had them balanced and aligned but still this same problem ? (Wheel wobbling )
Outside centering the wheel, you should be using them for safety so the weight of the car rests on them and not the lugs. Also you should always grease them before install so they don't get stuck during removal.
Hi, Ive watched all your content and really enjoyed it. But by any chance can you make a video on how you made a 6 bolt block work on a 7 bolt head in a 2g? I'm sure all of us would appreciate it :) stay boosting.
Javier Martinez it's pretty simple, just got to drill the head stud holes to 12mm. If I ever come across another 7 bolt head that needs to be mated to a 6 bolt block I'll record it.
If u take the tires back off after installing the rings will they remain in the wheel? Or will they stick to the hub and or fall off? I have them on my aftermarket wheels I'm just worried that next time I get my car worked on or need new tires that they are gonna lose the rings when they take the wheels off or not even install them back on
The vibration you had was likely due to improper lug tightening sequence or due to an imbalance that existed for one wheel and hub assembly that you happened to fix by indexing one or more wheels differently than before when you re-installed them. Hub-centric rings are an assembly aid (and a revenue generating product for some), and they are not really necessary. The wheel does not "rest on the lug nuts" without them. When you tighten the lugs, the tension in the lugs causes a friction force between the mating faces of the wheel and hub. That friction force supports all the vertical load. The lugs do not support any vertical load unless they're loose. No hub center fits a wheel center bore "perfectly". There is always some clearance, otherwise it would be a press-fit. No hub center supports any vertical load after the lugs have been tightened.
so your saying is unnecessary to install hub centric rings even if you hub and rims don't match? if the hubs are smaller then the rims hole? thats really wrong man, you need a close fit so the rims would be as center as possible to the hubs so it wount wobble, if its off centered it will, some people just try to center it with the lug nuts (lug centric), and it wont stay centered when you drop hard on a pot hole or bump, if you use stock rims its always hub centric, if you change aftermarket most is not, they will have a wider hole so its universal, some after market has matching hole size and hub so its centric but not all
The hub center and the wheel's center hole are just as you said, a close fit, but that's to make assembly easy. The lugs are the centering feature, otherwise they wouldn't have tapered seats. Did you miss the part about the tension in the lugs creating a friction force between the mating faces (planar faces) of the wheel and hub? A pot hole won't overcome that friction force, unless it's so big that other damage is also caused. In some cases the hub center could have some influence on locating the wheel relative to the hub, but it will be competing with the lugs to do so, so it's only a partial effect. If the centering worked as you describe then plastic hub center rings would fail almost immediately. Plastic rings don't fail because there is NO force on them once the lugs are tightened.
use GOOGLE..... all you have to do is type in the Make and Model of your wheel for example.......... Motegi mr116 center bore ... and if you dont know the size of your vehicles hub .. you can also do the same search
Hey man love your videos. I'm actually buying an eclipse soon like this weekend but I'm stuck between two choices. A 96 GS or an 04 spyder gt. Any thoughts?
Yeah I found that out a while ago. They're gonna be my daily so I'm not looking to go all out on them, just small basic things. But I heard the GS was easier to work on so I was leaning more towards that.
Juan Landeros pretty simple car and they're gonna be cheaper. If anything go for a 97-99 gs for the revise body style. Unless you like the 2ga body style
Dude, I also run XXR 527s with champiro SX2 on my car haha. question tho, did u switch to aluminum HCR already? any update on how ur ride is running now would be great. Thanks!

You and me both. Had no idea what they were until I took off my tire and didn't no what they were until I did some research.
A great explanation for the purpose of using hub centric rings.
bro u need more videos man daily shit man I can honestly say I learn new things about this daum dsm every time I see your videos
dont have enough time for that lol... editing takes way too long.

qwert19611 had this same issue too with my wheels on my truck. My truck bore size was 106 and the wheel bore was 108. Got rings on the way
theaznbboi did it solve your problem?
I like how they say they'll post a reply if it works and then never gets back and tells you. :/
Watching you drive vibration free made me so envious
Appreciate the explanation. Gotta get 60.1 adapters to 56.1.
Yup same here 6 years aftermarket wheels and no hub rings... mine does the same thing... ordered some and waiting... thanks for the vid bro... 🤙

For More than 3 years with problems AND thaks now
Yup, just got my new wheels and tires from custom offsets and at highway speeds I get a small vibration. Just waiting for my rings to come in.
I got rings that the measurements for the car specified but they dont really fit flush in the rims.
Great video that is very informative.
Nice answered a lot of questions i had 🙌🏽

Wrong the ring is basically just a dowel pin. Centres the wheel perfectly. Kills vibration. Doesn’t take the weight of the wheel
Dude it hurts me when you throw them nice rim facing down to the concrete like that at lest stand it up so the surface don't get ding up

I have a 93 Chevy Suburban,I got some bigger rims and it's not hub centric. Will my rear end get damage without the hub rings?
Damn bro! Such an easy mod..def gonna do that pronto!
Will it damage anything from running the rims without the centric rings

I didn’t have any problems with stock wheels and tires

you think some anti-seize or a generic bearing grease would be better?
So its just centering
But what about the rims with bolts with conical shape?
Hi, I want to put the rim with CB 67.1mm but My original rim CB is 64.1mm. Should I put centric hub as it is only 3mm difference? Thanks.
Yeah, I would
Hey is it bad if they fit tight

Depends really. Theres times where ive taken off my wheels and the rings stay on the car and then i've had times where the rings stay with the wheel.
@@daniel1997gsx ah gotcha thanks man I guess who ever works on my car I gotta let them know in advance

Andrew Vo what after market wheels are you running I know with my partners car we just went to the dealer and they made them to suit different cars
Is there a way to find the vehicle hub measurements? I have tried googling so many things to no avail.
Don't buy cheap ass Chinese uni lug Wheels. If you can't afford the right wheel just ride on the stock rims

Emmanuelconcha Lenares sold the rims with the plastic HCR, they were still holding up fine with no signs of failing.
How do I measure to know what size I need?
Digital caliber tool measure the inside of the wheel aka center bore measure in mm’… aka millimeters
The Nissan/Datsun oem center hub is 60 mm diameter
I had my tires balanced & yet my steering still shakes at 60 mph. Idk whats up with it
Long Wsb maybe your tires have bumps on them? Sometimes they do the balancing wrong too. It happen to me once
Is it ok to have hubcentric wheel spacers and hub centric rings at the same time?
Elias Jr Martinez yes sirrrrr

Hey I have some mutegis how can I know the right size of rings
look up your wheels online and find out its bore size, then find out your car's hub size and type both of those numbers in to ebay.
