I got my q3 and experienced all of the same issues, im glad someone made a video about it, especially the profiles, so annoying. If it was any other brand that charged 10k they would be taken to town over it but because it's a Leica we're supposedly meant to accept it. Still produces nice images though, just not intrinsically worth the price tag.
No camera is perfect. The thing I like about the Q3 is that it reminds me of shooting film. And the files need very little editing. You have to embrace the different shooting style. I love the way it crops for 35 and 50… but realistically I never use the 75 or 90…. But here is the thing… think of what it is like using a 90mm on rangefinder… all you are doing is that! Think of it like that, use manual focus, and embrace the weird way it works… trust me.. you don’t want it to be a Sony.
I used Nikon, Canon and Sony but never felt good like am with Leica. I use Leica q2 24/7 365 days. I am very happy with Leica. Auto focus sucks in video so I use manually. After seeing q3, I have been thinking of upgrading from q2 but I have to sell my wife’s jewelry and also her hand bags 😂. I might have to sell my dog if it’s not enough. Anyway, enjoy your q3. Thanks for sharing your thought on q3.
Lol love the selling part! I sold all my Fuji gear to get the Q3 but I thought about downgrading but i cant give up the usb c charging. Besides that I think I can live with the Q2.
I use crop mode on my Q2 regularly between 28 & 35mm. While I can manage to see the focus, I agree that Leica should allow zoomed view if we crop to 50mm/75mm. I can imagine the difficulty with 90mm on Q3!
Regarding the lower status bar, it's not just you. I had the Q2 and that thing was extremely annoying. Especially considering it's UI element that I'm sure could be optional via a firmware update.
Really enjoyed my time with my Q2, but just could not get past that status bar. Was really hoping that they updated that issue on the Q3, but that is a dealbreaker for me. Found myself missing compositions when shooting from the LCD and wondering why everything was off-center when I got it back to my editing software. It’s perplexing why they haven’t found a way to fix it.
Congratulations for the video and for the passion and enthusiasm that you transmit; I am also in love with the Leica Q3. I even tried it for an hour at the Leica store in Florence. Currently, I own a Sony a7III + Sony 24-70 f2.8 GII + Tamron 35-150 f2/2.8...... What do you advise me? Would you change the whole Sony package to switch only to the Leica Q3?
First of all, thank you for watching. Just to clarify. For my work related stuff, I use my Sony cameras along with 16-35gmii, 24-70gmii, 70-200gmii, 35mmgm, 55mm zeiss, 85mm sony. That said, I have all the versatility that I need. So if i ever need variety of focal length I can always grab my Sony. If I were you, I would not sell the Sony kit. Even though Q3 is a great camera, I dont think it’s an all in one camera.
I stayed with the Q2, I didnt need 60MP a flip screen, wireless charging Q2 AF is fast enough for the nature of the camera.Q2 electronic shutter works better. Q3 has a slower start up than the Q2. q2 is a more elegant design
That’s why I immediately purchased a second RX1Rm2 after Q3 was released.😅 Leica just can’t beat SONY’s legendary Point n’ shoot even from 8 years ago.
Was $6000 worth it? For work related stuff I dont think so… for my happiness, yes! 😂

@@mmarsbarr I totally agree. I don't know if I could have tolerated all the stuff I talked about if it was a different brand.
For happiness? 100%

I totally agree! I do enjoy shooting with the q3 more than with my sony :)
Great list - I have the same issues with the Q3 after using it the last couple of weeks as a Sony main and like you I still love the camera so far.

You’re lucky you got your q3 so jealous!!
😅

I became little hard to see from 75mm lol
Brought my Q3 & A7R5 for our 2 wk vacation in Europe… I left my 7R5 in my hotel room safe and just use the Q3 in the end
Good choice!
Very helpful for a future purchase
Glad it helped!

So I am not the only person that's complaining about this... good to know.

So I wasn't the only crazy one about that stupid status bar. I really dont know why it's like how it is now... :(
The bloody semi transparent status bar is also my biggest gripe :(
Do you know if Leica had fixed any of these issues in firmware updates Michael?

Is it not possible to use the touch screen to chose the correct profile? than you dont need to go through the default profile.
You can but if i miss it by a little it will go to the default lol. Im just too use to using the keys. I will probably have to get used to it.
I agree bro
Thanks for watching!

You were going to say Sony sensor used in the camera right? 😂
Hahahah no~~~~
What is that diagonal line across the screen
That is a leveler. Going crazy because I have it pointing downwards.
New info for the fx3

I agree
the only real difference is the Q3 is about 1 stop better in low light than the Q2 @@MichaelYoungKim
Like comparing chalk with cheese, Sony with Leica.
high iso ????
I think that you should click that dial to use it
Pretty minor things
Yep pretty little things. And things got better after the firmware update.
That’s why I immediately purchased a second RX1Rm2 after Q3 was released.😅 Leica just can’t beat SONY’s legendary Point n’ shoot even from 8 years ago.
Ummm
A second? + it is overpriced for ≈3K+ for a compact camera is a lot! You could get a professional camera for that price which is way more better
