Dodge's FREE GIFTS Won't Save The 2024 Charger Daytona EV

- Dodge’s all-electric 2024 Charger Daytona is now available for pre-order under the "First Call" package, but is it really worth the hype? While Dodge is offering some flashy perks like a VIP experience, free driving lessons, and a welcome kit, the real issue lies beneath the surface. The Charger Daytona feels more like a desperate attempt to stay relevant in the muscle car world, where fans crave the roar of a gas engine, not an electric hum. With prices starting at nearly $60k for the R/T and climbing to over $80k for the Scat Pack, this electric Charger is not only more expensive than faster Teslas but also seems out of touch with the brand’s core audience.
As Dodge shifts towards electrification, they may be losing the very fans that built the brand’s legacy. The Charger Daytona’s pre-configured dealer packages, sarcastic marketing tone, and sky-high prices are causing potential buyers to question whether this is the future they want. Dodge fans, who love raw horsepower and affordable performance, are now faced with an electric alternative that just doesn't have the same appeal. Will this be Dodge’s biggest flop, or can they redeem themselves in a rapidly evolving auto market? Let’s break it down.

At least the theft rates will go down 💀
doubt it. They will just steal it and strip the body to hellcat swap it. Especially the Sixpack
😂😂😂😂
We gonna get the copper wire 😂
Facts!!! 😂😂😂😂
You win the comment section, good sir!🏆😂
First Call? Desperate Call is more like it. 🤦🏻♂️
$80,000 in 1 year will drop to $30,000. The EV market is collapsing in the US and European markets.
I’d buy one and drop a hemi in it
@MixedToofer hey you got the money to do that, hat off to you.
@@MixedTooferDo it right and enter as exhibit in SEMA show.
Good
Thats not how that works. @@MixedToofer
There will be movies made about this someday.
BAP employees are wondering why we didn’t build more ICE engine chargers/challengers. We worked two shifts/6 days a week trying to keep up with orders, for years!!!
I can’t believe what Dodge did to their muscle car heritage 🤦🏽♂️
Not dodge, a German company did this!
You cannot put a “ scat pac” emblem on a battery powered car, and expect it to be a true scat pac . That’s like calling Taco Bell authentic Mexican food
That is a surprisingly effective comparison.
Blame Porsche. They call their electric a “turbo.”
Dodge should have called theirs a Zap Pack.
@BillLaBrie I guess. But at least the Porsche doesn't suck, and they didn't abandon their existing customers that are still purists. 🤷♂️
That's actually perfectly said.
They just did.
"scat pack" is meaningless
The only badge that MEANS something is "SRT", "HELLCAT" or "DEMON"
Scat Packs are TRASH
The, "First Call," is a call that no one is gonna answer.😂
Damn shame, the car looks real good. $30,000 grand more expensive and slower than the competition is not and never has been the Mopar way.
I have to disagree, it looks terrible.
@@eldiablort1461 im the guy in the middle, i like it, but it looks weird from some angles, and not a fun or interesting kind of weird just... "uh..."
Its supposed to emulate the old 60's chargers, and it somewhat does, but not to the best of its potential whatsoever, its very neutered, utterly toned down and confused about whether it wants to be a 60's charger or a normal plain jane sedan, the side profiles are supposed to be iconic, and instead from the body lines are very one dimensional and flat, however the flying buttress look was given more attention which i loved, and i didnt even mind it being a liftback, but it goes to waste because this thing is not nearly girthy enough, the front face on the sixpacks looks like crap, the EV face is its main selling point because of that front wing but ofc the sixpack cant have that, so what you're left with is just something that looks like it should be a charger, but clearly isnt.
The old charger's front face made it look like some kind of whale, not to mention the flip up headlights, and given there is no grill on the EV, it just looks boring because its way too small to have the same level of intimidation.
The interior however, is very nice, its a stepup from the current gen chargers but the issue is we dont all like all these screens replacing some of the buttons and dials.
All of this would make it sound like i'd say it looks bad, but i dont think so, i think it looks Incomplete, from many angles i think, "damn i kinda like that", but then the next morning i see it from another weird angle that wouldnt be a problem for the older models, and then i go "why it look like that? why the front gotta dip so low, why the side so boring?"
i feel like if this wasnt an EV, it could be saved with aftermarket attention, because i for sure would love to see revisions of the body, they had the idea but did not execute it properly,
Personally i'd say "terrible" is a bit much, its far from the worst looking car i've ever seen, its simply that its said to reflect the 60's chargers and it has failed in that regard, but were this not an ev and/or called a charger, i probably wouldnt mind driving one.
Looks like 💩. It looks like a redesigned Camero
And….IT’s ELECTRIC 🤷🏼♀️
Chargers and Challengers have always been slower than Teslas.
Flop or Joke ?
FORD thanks the fools at DODGE for sending them Mustang buyers, LOL !
Most of us aren't buying mustangs, we're just depressed
I like the looks I don't mind it's and EV. What I don't like it's too heavy, It's too expensive, and it's too slow. This car is DOA even before it's built.
You'll care about it being an EV when going far or when you get stranded!
What’s even worse is i can order a fully loaded Tesla s plaid that goes 0-60 in 1.99 with 3 year free supercharging and full self driving for $101,490 before taxes. TK garage already did a video where dealership are pricing those new electric scat packs as high as $115k with mark up and before taxes
If the scat pack is gonna be over a hundred thousand dollars, then how much is the banshee gonna be?? Yeah.... straight BS
They really think the public wants this...
They don't think the public what's them. It's like Larry Fink of Black Rock said "we have to force them to change!" Tavares is a WEF clown pushing their agenda on the masses
Mopar has never cared what the public thinks. The OG cars in the 60s were not as fugly as AMC's but not as polished as GM and Ford products. Eventually they became loved by all. Created the universally hated minivan. The World followed. The semi look Rams hit with luke warm love. Eventually copied and loved by all. The 80s fwd, 4cyl models of Mopar while GM and Ford carried the V8 tradition and Mopar didn't care. Then the rebirth in 2008 with Hell, Demon and all the other in your face names and ads. They didn't care what the general public thought they were blowing the lid off retro and power numbers. Everyone followed. I think, they think they are creating the next big thing and people will follow. But they missed one common thread to all thier rebellious successes. They were ALWAYS the value choice. They won a few years of awards for the Ram and Challenger and blew up the costs. $80,000 EV ain't gonna fly when KIA EV GT is more HP, more youth focused and $20,000 less. To give one example.
Sounds like a pissed off dryer with belt slipping
If I'm buying a muscle car I'm looking for ICE vehicle with actual horsepower under the hood. If I want an electric rolling microwave with a ton of soy power under the bonnet, I'll buy a tesla.
why would you pay almost 120k for this when you can get a model s plaid for half the money
I completely agree I’d get a plaid over any ev from dodge but it’s not half the price, unless you buy a used one but that’s a whole other conversation
Did they ever say why it’s limited to 134 mph ?
Probably a stage unlock 🙄
It’s so sad. I’ve had a vette and stang I was really wanting to try a dodge. But not this
theres still a few new hellcats and demons out there if you are interested before dodge is gone forever
I am getting a real Dodge....a 1970 Dart....when Dodge was Dodge.
No bodies buying that shit
I agree but I'll say someone will get it
Bring back the PT Cruiser!
The dealership I work at has no allocation and the GSM stated he will not accept any allocation. Any orders for this screaming speakerbox will have to come from customers.
Dodge has really turned me against them.. Loved my Challenger but the way they do business now is insane.. Sold it when prices went up to crazy numbers, and glad I did seeing their new business model…
I remember my comment under the release video of this electric Dodge Charger. It was something like: 'Yeah, yeah, nice Dodge, nice.. but just give us a V8 Challenger that doesn't rust this time.' - I'm still sticking to that.
Pretty sure these will rot on their lots.
Facts facts facts, what a fail. Flat on their face
I drive my 1972 Charger Rally top banana 440 six pack and my wife drives a 2016 challenger scat pack. I don’t think we will ever replace these 2 cars
Man this is like the third fuck up from dodge if u include the Dart too
All editions will flop. Nobody wants them. 🤡🤡🤡
The 6pack will do just fine
@@Scrotum_69420 that one might do ok but the electric versions are dead on arrival.
@@marcmcphee That's yet to be seen.
They are a joke at this point. Dealer markups still here. The car is not even competitive with other ev for what you get and its way late to the ev party. All these furst call last call bs is trash only a way to shaft the customers. Just like the last call was the same exact cars pretty much from 2015. Smh
There's a reason Tim Kuniskis left. Matt is now feeling the pressure, and it's not his fault either.
Tim left a disaster for Matt and Matt will leave too
I would be embarrassed to park that crap in my driveway
If I want an EV muscle car, I’d get a Tesla Model S Plaid.
I can’t believe they’re focusing on the EV release first. That’s just gonna bury them and we will never see the six pack.
That may all change soon.... The ICE is well under way of development.
Dealer lots are still full of ICE Chargers.
@@steven4315 are you gonna pay $100,000 for a charger ... No, no you wouldn't. They have now made that car unobtainable to 430 credit score individuals
It's an Edsel.
That's EXACTLY what I just posted
They should of made a small electric car for a few years to stop all the fines and then dropped this same line of Chargers with a refreshed HEMI. Could of called it the Neon and had people eating them up. Probably more complicated but seems like it would of worked.
lol some dealers even want the customers to give up that tax credit
What a dumpster fart of a car 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Maybe if they divert the power, they are using to make it sound like a car to the rear wheels they can pick up a few extra mph.
No joke, the entire “Fratzonic” system with all associated hardware and components adds SEVERAL hundreds of pounds to the vehicle. EV enthusiasts won’t want that noise maker, and would given the chance pass on that if it was an option. Idk who that noisemaker was for even.
It must be so bad and flawed that they will not let any automotive reviewer drive/review one….what a disaster.
Sounds like great grandma's tea kettle at end of video.
He’s right! 100%
Tesla is the Benchmark. Not only is Dodge SLOWER than a mid level Tesla, there is NO WAY Dodge has the science in battery and thermal management like Tesla does.
Dodge can keep that over weight, over priced Anchor ,I'll keep my Hemi and when I can't get anymore out of that I guess I'll buy a Mustang 😢.
Even if I wanted this car, and I don’t, I would NEVER buy a first year model on anything. I did that once and it wasn’t good. New car and new untested technology…nope. Now they expect a premium price? Double nope. I’m hanging onto my Scat for a long time
$30k more not counting the dealer markups. smh
I'm sorry ... did you say "worst" call :p ???
It will take huge discounts for these to sell. I know a Midwest Ford dealer that took a $5000 loss per car to get rid of several Mach E's that he couldn't sell. They went to a dealer in California.
Keeping my Scat Pack. Buying me a Mustang
Already own my srt8 and mustang gt lol
The fact that a company owned and built by a South African is more American than Mopar is mind-blowing 🤯
Mopar vehicles haven’t been American in a long time anyways
I'm very interested in hearing the HORN, I think it's goona sound better than the CAR......🤪🤪
How embarrassing that hokey EV Charger.
Why they had to change a successful, proven recipe? 🤔🤨
Don't forget about the Lexus IS500 that's a V8 option under the radar....
The Hyundai ioniq 5N is way better than this ev and costs 65K to 70K.
A 670 hp car that weighs 6k
Nobody wants battery powered vehicles.
I have a model 3 performance. Quicker than my Hellcat was, and I know it isn't getting stolen if I park it anywhere.
It won't take them too long to find that out 😂
@adamg3911 $77k + tune, $80k + tune. Hellcat was $53k otd, tesla was $50k after tax credit otd. At those prices, it SHOULD be faster. Maybe I should sell the 3 and get a plaid and we can internet race again! F you and your civic.
Nobody wants the EVs Stellantis is trying to make.
@@RingMaster313Ok nerd, kiss my ass
I think you’re 100% right in the companies direction and I own several Mopar products. The epa needs to be deleted as an agencie
1973 is when muscle cars went to crap. Unleaded gas, guard rail bumpers and smogged out engines. 1964 is when OEM started the real horsepower wars with stock cars.
It's electric..
Catastrophe in the making. Imagine parking this fire hazard in your garage 🔥🔥🔥💀
Nobody is gonna buy this shit!
If they carefully control production to MEET the DEMAND then it can't be considered a "flop".
A "flop" would be overproduction i.e. units sitting on lots not selling because production exceeded demand.
If DEMAND is higher than Production at that point it would be considered "successful".
Remember that dial up tone you’d get when you’d try to make a connection and it failed? That’s what the burnout clip at the end reminded me of
I don't think you can call a silent car a muscle car. A Tesla is fast but nobody will call any of them a muscle car.
The electric Charger Daytona is a R/T equivalent, it’s the base model it’s not meant to compete with a Tesla performance model that has two motors. They have future models with much higher power rates for that along with updates.
V8 or roll it in the lake..
There was a guy at work who said he wanted to get the new Charger....until I dold him it no longer came with a V8, so now he is going to get a C8 instead.
I'm a little confused on the stage 1 upgrade 500hp but ... only 400 ftlb of torque? EVs are known for their torque, why is it so low? Trying to move 3 tons?
Don't forget the $350 lug nuts 😅
Building the previous generation Charger one year longer into 2024 wouldn't make sense. It would only add to the unsold cars on dealership lots. Stellantis needs to lower prices across all their brands if they want people to buy their cars again
If it was light weight, cheap and a hybrid instead of EV, I'd buy it. But they need to lower the price of it, because no one can afford a $61,000 car. And dealers are offering these at $115,000. I don't think Carlos are thinking about doing rebates on these cars or the inventory problems that the dealerships are struggling with. He's in it for the money, especially for EVs.
I purchased a Mustang 5.0 manual. LOVE IT!!
This is what you end up with when you don’t have any fuel efficient cars to offset your Hemi vehicles. Dodge could have developed fuel efficient cars, a few battery cars back in the early 2000’s which would have allowed them to keep a few Hemi powered vehicles. However, lack of strategy doomed them. Both Chevy and Ford were able to retain V8 powered cars, but not Dodge. I blame this on senior Stellantis management.
Stellantis is using the four American brands to prop up their European vehicles
And the profits are drying up since people aren't buying what they are selling.
That P racer guy likes them, guess they will sell one car. You wont see one in my driveway.
People acting like they were gonna be able to keep making more powerful HEMI engines in perpetuity lol!
I genuinely believe that the “top speed of 134 mph” has got to do with some scum stuff as BMW does.
I can guarantee if you buy a scat pack of an RT version of these EV chargers, you’ll be able to buy a higher mph.
Surprised you don’t get an exhaust ringtone pack free with purchase. RT, Scat Pack and Hellcat sounds on demand!!! Not even a tough guy leather jacket? Damn
Only if one of the sounds is George Jetson's car.
I would be ashamed to see that thing sitting in my driveway, what an absolute fail on Dodges part!
DOA
This is comparable to the 1971-74 Dodge Chargers transition to the 1975-78 Chargers.
so "Redeye" has now been reduced to a color ... great.
How can you review a vehicle that hasn't touched the streets or the track yet🤦🏾♂️🤷🏾
This may take the crown from the Hornet as the worst selling car 🚗 😅
Well said brother 👏
Dodge is advertising that you get the $7500 tax credit when you lease this EV. I really hope that Dodge has enough common sense to come out with a cheap (competitive) lease deal for this disaster
This car is a failure Dodge/Stellantis !!!!🤦♂️🤦♂️👎👎👎
RACING GLOVES😮 who wear racing gloves on the road 🤔
I bet Raiti Rides loves it ❤❤❤
You’re not being asked to embrace electrification, youre being forced too. They killed the hemi and added ev at the same time. Too much to bear
At those crazy prices. I’d rather call Mark Worman and have him build me a 68 Charger Rt.
Dodge is no longer the car company of the cool kids.....
Only 3.3 0-60 lol
Notice he mention the M3P but i just checked today 20Sept2024 you can order a Model S Plaid for 75k which is still cheaper then the Charger wth was Dodge thinking
Hyundai IONIQ 5N 641 HP…. An ICE can’t touch EV’s.. secondly it’s the younger generations will demand EV’s.. stiffening the suspension you have a rocket..
The Ioniq’s top speed 270 KPH ..or 160 MPH
Respectfully denied that fact the bmw M3 xdrive beats the IONIQ 5
@@steevynovirus_f3099 your right but it’s 30k dollars more…👍🏿

I think you’re forgetting the reason why they think the tax credit will work is because of the hybrid Jeep… and even then I wonder how many of those they sold
