welcome to the club, Jules! Only the most endurant ones are able to make a cover of this masterpiece. Also, happy birthday! I told you before, but will say it again - your progress with vocals is incredible, it really fits your channel, looking forward to hear more of your songs.
I have only two words: God. Damn. As someone who is beyond self conscious of their vocal range, this is flat out incredible Jules. You showed no fear on a track that demands a not insignificant range. Just fucking immaculate my dude. Thank you for sharing this absolute banger of a cover.
Bro I have no freaking words man that was one of the best things I've ever listened to it was so unbelievably epic and inspiring and straight up fun to listen to!!
Ask and you shall receive, I guess. I commented on his cover of "It has to be this Way" that his voice would sound amazing over Bury the Light. Well, here we are.
I’ve been watching your channel since late 2011 it’s amazing to see how far you’ve come in terms of production, arrangement and overall performance. Keep up the good work!
The fused character Raigil, a character born from rain from a storm that is also ninja and a devil so you know he is born from 2000s cool things, and yet Raigil is that cool.
Instrumental is out of this world. The more growly take on the vocals isn't for me personally, I prefer the smoother vocals in the original, but my tastes do not detract from the good work you've done here.
Agree. I love the verses, but the chorus is mostly too growly I think. It suits the end part ("I am reclaimer of my name...my family crest is a demon of death") and some of the other bits, but I think the rest would've sounded better without the growliness. The voice he used in the verses would've been better for most of it; the growliness feels better when it's escalated into rather than being used throughout. I especially wasn't big on it during the "beyond the tree...does your dim heart heal or destroy" section. :'x But like you said, it's still great. Just a matter of taste, haha.
I imagine this might be more how the song would've originally sounded in terms of the instrumentals if Capcom hadn't explicitly forbidden guitars during the main verses.
@@johnnyd.1004 Chorus was fine, it was basically the verses around the chorus that couldn't have guitars. Composer said the reason it has such a crazy bass was to essentially simulate a heavy guitar.
Wow. I've heard it with Victor's vocals, I've heard people sing it with a deeper voice, I've even heard the legendary Bury the Guilt. Still, these growls were so intense it felt like a whole new song. Excellent work!
In latinamerica when we're gonna searching something but we find some better we say "vine buscando cobre y encontre oro" hahahahaha. Bro that's song was wicked and that's one of my favorite from DMC V great job for part as a latinoamérican fan
If I had to rate this cover, I'd give it a Smokin' Sexy Style! Awesome work once more. One thing I loved about this song once I realized it is the melody for the title drop section of the song, beginning with "Bury the light deep within" matches with the section directly after "Devil Trigger"'s title drop, starting with "Embrace the darkness that's within me". It gives that subtle connection between Nero and Vergil, being father and son.
I was actually wondering a few weeks ago if someone like you or Richard would become motivated enough to power through this beast of a song. Now that I have seen the product, and with Victor's approval, I dare say: sir, fan-fucking-tastic job!
YOOO!!! I always thought your collab with Skar was the king of the bury the light covers. That one is still an epic af cover but this, 100%, no doubt is the GOAT. Keep shredding dude!
To be completely honest, there are a couple of spots where you can hear the reaching a bit - the beginning of the chorus with "I am the storm that is approaching, provoking" but other than that, excellent. And I really do mean just that little bit, a couple of times, the rest of the chorus is incredible, I'm always in awe of people who have a good metal-growl, especially when they can hold a high note while maintaining it. I'm tempted to say that the slow part near the end, in the final bridge, should be smoothed out a bit (like it is in the original), but if that's a stylistic decision then that's perfectly okay as well. This is a really hard song to even come close to the original, but man you are there, and all the more impressive for someone relatively new to vocal covers. Great work!
Holy hell this is amazing, especially the vocal delivery! Going into the first calm part, "Inherit the nightmare. . ." is where they start coming in, getting that sound I don't know how to describe other than trying to keep it contained; David Draiman does it at times, as does Matt Heafy. At 6:11 "Lurking in the shadows. . ." the calm part and buildup before the solo, it sounds like you're getting more comfortable with it, just even better than before. Once you hit the solo, that's when your vocals fully come in, if it's not confidence there, you had me completely fooled. That, is where you absolutely nailed it, and gave me chills. It's not too often I find a song that has me looping not just the whole song, but specific sections as well, truly wanting to take in every part of it. This is one of them. Thank you for the awesome song and video!
You are one of the first content creators i followed ever. You are still rocking! This song means alot to me. You did a really great job ! Doing the vocals yourself is really amazing! You are such a pro! Have a great day!
I mean, the entire work here is phenomenal Jules, but it gets kicked up another notch at the 7:30 mark... That solo and the entire finale is SSS rank, and seeing you have so much fun playing is truly heartwarming. Hell, Victor Borba himself approved of this, what progress you have been through! You rock, Jules!
Jules! The vocals are insanely good! I know that this was a huge thing for you, but you should be so proud dude! The vocals are absolutely insane, and I'm absolutely adding this to all of my playlists. Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting Asking Alexandria vibes from this, like vocally and compositionally? That doesn't really matter, what matters is you knocked this out of the park! Amazing job dude!
I know you aren't too proud of this cover, but I consider this the better of the two. I think it is the perfect mix of dread and victory: "dread" in the sense that you know you are about to battle a powerful opponent that is many times more powerful than you, and "victory" in the sense that you can tell that this opponent went through hell and back to attain the power and skills they now have, so you can't help but respect them. It's truly a mix of "oh shit this guy's strong" and "of shit this guy is serious business", which you wouldn't think are two distinct vibes, but this cover does an excellent job at showing how those vibes are distinct and then marrying them together.
This is actually the first cover I've watched you do the vocals for, and I was absolutely not expecting you to fucking crush it like that dude, holy shit 🤘🏼🔥
Nice!!! Thanks for doing this cover, been a fan for a while
it's the man himself 🙏
Now that is some high praise. When the original singer thanks for covering him.

that's so youtube: midrolling right in the middle of Bury The Light...
Sorry about that. Just disabled mid-rolls so hopefully that won't happen again. :)

Agreed. Jules doing vocals is really nice!

I had no idea Jules could growl like that. I love it.
The most genius aspect of this song is how well it manages at sounding both dark & demonic, but also uplifting & angelic.
