  • Many Bowhunters are making the switch from Mechanical Broadheads to Fixed Broadheads and many others are skeptical. Today we're going to talk about switching from mechanical to fixed blade broadheads, what's involved, what should I know, is that difficult?
The short answer is it is really not that difficult to switch from your mechanical or hybrids over to a fixed blade. But there are some things that you should consider or need to know if you're going to make the switch out of the blue.
Well, one thing that you can be sure of, if there is flaws in your bow set up and your arrow set up a fixed blade is going to let you know it. There's no doubt about it. Because if you think about it, when you are shooting a field tip, most people are going to a mechanical because they want that same type of aerodynamic as the field tip for accuracy.
You know, that's just the basic premise anyway. So if truly you're mechanical broadhead is flying like your field tip, then if you're switching over, you're just kind of saying, Okay, well, I'm just comparing this fixed blade to the field tip because that's the same flight that I've had because of the forgiveness.
In fact, if your bow is tuned and timed and you have the right arrow especially when it comes to spine, you're not going to have any trouble with the fixed blade broadhead at all. Switching over it should actually be very easy and so all you really need to do is decide on your fixed blade. Broadhead, what is it that you want to shoot?

In my 20s I was all mechanical. Through my thirties I’ve switched to fixed…. So glad I did! Afflictor K2 and EXT fixed blades have treated me well!!!

I like your hybrid...may try your fixed. Killed a nice 8pt with your hybrid. Iron Will fixed vented flies almost identical to field pts. TY

I know what Broadhead of yours I’m hunting with this fall but Was curious about for low poundage setups. My son will be shoot about 45 pounds this fall with around a 22 inch draw 320gr arrow. Including tip . What one of your Broadheads do you recommend. We will be limiting shots to under 20 yards.

We have a lot of low poundage shooters using our Fixed EXT and the Hybrid EXT. Both have our steep angle tip. It may be a good idea to try and get his arrow weight up as best you can. The closer to 400 grains total arrow weight the better for low poundage setups. Thanks for your question , shoot me an email if you need further assistance. Thanks! Chris
