Currently, I'm running Drain Crown on Cinderace as the only healing it has is Feint (when upgraded). I will now admit that it could maybe use a buff, unless the devs expect us all to run this on Garchomp. Though, I'll also admit that I've already upgraded Drain Crown to grade 30 (which is what I typically like doing, as I get Item Enhancers quite a lot, either as rewards or through Aeos Tickets).
On the other hand, My Rapid-Fire Scarf is only grade 5, as I initially thought the attack speed cap was going to interfere with its main effect, hence why I chose to upgrade Drain Crown first. Is that actually the case, though? No, I'm seriously asking. Does Rapid-Fire Scarf break the attack speed cap of a pokemon?

Aegislash seems like it would be a pretty decent pokemon to have Drain Crown on. It lets you heal in Sword Form while dealing damage, and it could between dying or not as a lot of the time you barely have any health once you get to shield form so it could be a bit useful with extra healing.

I believe Decidueye actually does benefit quite a bit from drain crown for one reason; popping razor leaf on a group of birds heals you pretty much back to full from 0 health. No that's not drain crown. He does that healing anyway. He has natural lifesteal on basic attacks WITHOUT drain crown. The amount you lifesteal is based on how much damage you do. So the more damage you do the more he heals by default therefore you want to maximise damage to heal the most with decidueye. Scope lens/muscle band/attack weight is the best. Or if you don't wanna stack focus band is way better.

Having that little bit of extra sustainability at low health goes a long way for Flailax, which is why I like it on him. There are a handful of builds that I think Drain Crown holds a legitimate spot in and the ones I don’t hear talked about as much are Flail Snorlax and Outrage Dragonite. These brawl type characters do so much damage with their basics and rely on the healing they receive from them to stay well enough alive. Much like Garchomp, the extra healing from Draining Crown can be pivotal as it dives on top of a squishy mon to attempt to out damage them. My honorable mention for this item is Flash Cannon Duraludon. A lot of people don’t realize just how much Flash Cannon can do with its piercing boosted auto attacks and that it’s second move always prepares a booster immediately. My favorite combo is using Flash Cannon with Stealth Rocks to get 3 additional boosted autos in a row and those autos hitting at 1-1.5k per auto will out trade any squishy mon and a lot of bruisers as well. With the piercing auto and specific positioning, you can out trade entire teams with Draining Crown. With that being said, for Duraludon, Draining Crown is just facing too much competition. Staple items for this Pokémon are Muscle Band and Scope Lens, so Draining crown is trying to win a single flex spot over the likes of Razor Claw which also works very well for this build, Attack Weight, and the other new item Rapid Fire Scarf. Snorlax and Dragonite have a little more build flexibility to fit Draining Crown but Duraludon often cannot afford to run it over something else

i think the issue with drain crown is that damage is so high, any of the characters who would want to use it get one shot before getting too much use out of it ontop of getting no benefit from the item if you're at full hp. it's mostly gonna make sure you're a bit more healthy after a fight you'd already win, rather than being the deciding factor of if you'd win. if they want the item to be better they can turn life steal into one of it's stats, and make the effect a shield for excess healing. yes basically bloodthirster from league, (or an assault vest you generate by doing damage, for those who don't play league) but it's a good item that'd give squishier characters a bit of a buffer, especially if they stacked the shield on wild pokemon before a skirmish, they could keep upping the shield until it got broken. once it's broken it'd be healing.
either max hp scaling on the shield, or a flat amount, it also has the benefit of not just shutting down burst characters like absol who is supposed to one shot someone like decidueye and cinderace unless he whiffs or gets outplayed pretty hard. but allows them to trade and sustain better.

Drain Crown is definitely a trap. It's incredibly low value unless you're specifically trying to abuse it on a Pokémon like Garchomp. Let's look at Scizor, who's a popular pick with this item for some reason. Shoutout to Scizor's boosted attack not even dealing increased damage compared to its basic attack and it's even more baffling that so many people are looking at this combination. But don't worry, I've already done the math for you. At level 11, it learns Bullet Punch+, giving us these numbers...
    735 Healed w/ Weakness Policy(0 stacks)
    740 Healed w/ Drain Crown
34 Healed per basic attack w/ Drain Crown
At first glance, you might think this makes Drain Crown look better as a survivability item, but it's not. *Simply wearing Weakness Policy gives 210 HP base stat compared to Drain Crown's 120 HP, which means Drain Crown must heal at least 90 HP to make up the difference.* Scizor must land 3(!) basic attacks in addition to Bullet Punch+ to even compete with a Weakness Policy AT ZERO STACKS. And don't get me started on Weakness Policy WITH stacks. +3% Attack per stack is obviously much higher than Drain Crown's flat +3.
tl;dr: Drain Crown isn't just bad on Pokémon that aren't built for it like Scizor and Trevenant, it's completely outclassed. It's literally worse at helping you survive than a Weakness Policy that doesn't have any ability text. Please just run Focus Band if you want more survivability~

If they would add an additional effect on it like Haas Claws on MLBB it would be usable. With Haas Claws, once your HP goes on a certain threshold, the life steal percentage goes up a significant amount. Obviously they need to add a cooldown to make it not OP. In MLBB, once your HP drops to that certain level, you can easily life steal to full hp once the effect activates.

Haas Claws(similar to Drain Crown, but the lifesteal % would increase if your HP dropped a certain amount) and Bruteforce are both items I use when I use a basic attack dependent MM because Bruteforce not only increases your Defense every attack or basic attack but it increases your movement speed also so you could move while dealing damage

For me a decent pick for drain crown is pursuit absol as you have to hit your basic attack button for pursuit and since the second part of pursuit is technically an "attack-based basic attack" and it does alot of damage especially with a critical emblem build you'd be healing alot when you hit multiple enemies with one pursuit. Only problem is that you are very squishy so even if you land a pursuit you'd still get kod pretty easily

I havent tried it yet but Scizor is an auto attack spammer who already gets some recovery from his basic attacks and he does 2 basic attacks after using an ability. So although 10% isnt much, if you add it ON TOP of his base Lifesteal, i can see some potential there. At level 13 youre getting 25% back for every hit. This just allows you to stay alive until your next BPunch is up for your main recovery.
Idk how good it would be and which item it replaces, but i can see some sleeping potential there. Maybe paired with the scarf for even faster auto attacks/even more recovery? Something like Crown/Scarf/Muscle or Focus band? Ill have to try but theres some interesting synergy here

I compared the healing before and after I switched my Muscle Band out for the Drain Crown and it significantly increased (30k-40k to 50k-60k). But your video makes me reconsider the item. Indeed the math sounds horrible. I also can't decide ingame if I want to go Whirlpool instead of Aqua Tail, e.g. when Sableye is around. I think Cinderace, Greninja, Decidueye, and Duraludon as ADCs work well with Drain Crown. It helps them recover during a team-fight if they get poked or jumped on but escape, they just have to hit enemies whether it’s the players or farm.
The problem is just that Drain Crown isn’t good enough to replace Muscle Band, Scope Lens, or Rapid-Fire Scarf. I was hoping to replace Muscle Band with Drain Crown since an ADC doesn’t need the 3% missing HP damage as much due to critical-hits hitting like a truck.
That does raise the question of how Drain Crown exactly works. Does it affect additional damage from basic attacks and Boosted attacks? If that’s the case, Greninja might get a fair bit of recovery from its missing HP damage; Unite-DB website specifically noted for Greninja “calculated as auto attack damage and subject to auto attack effects”. And what about Garchomp from its 10% remaining HP damage during its Boosted?
Also it’s a crime that Drain Crown doesn’t work on Tyranitar’s true damage. I was thinking between it and Focus Band it would get a lot more sustain. And I was using Rapid-Fire Scarf so it would basic attack a lot, which really helps Tyranitar’s Unite move too.
For Tyranitar, I feel like its Unite move was always the shiny but impractical toy in its kit. It just doesn’t do enough damage before enemy players run away. With how clunky Tyranitar can feel, the Unite move was all the worse for me. So now I run Muscle Band, Rapid-Fire Scarf, Focus Band and X Attack though Full-Heal would probably be more optimal. It helps Larvitar’s and Pupitar’s clear speed and makes you hit harder during ganks. And the Unite move is so much easier to use. I recommend trying it Spragels.

Pursuit Absol with Drain Crown could work (since Pursuit counts as a basic attack). You can heal alot of health with it (200-300 HP) due to the high crit damage and the resets, especially against tanks. However, Absol should focus on damage items instead anyway, so it would already be better to run the Rapid-Fire Scarf instead.

I think part of the problem here is just the numbers, as you say, the number itself is very tiny, but compared to the overall numbers of health pokemon have, and the cadency at which you can autoattack, doesn’t pay off on squishy pokemon, never worth it, they will 100 to 0 u before drain crown starts to compensate for it

Duraludon works very well with the drain crown, however you still would want to run a different item for it to gain crit or faster attack speed. I think a unique option however is pokemon with no natural lifesteal, especially ones with big bursts. While not optimal I think a drain crown zoroark would be a unique concept to help with it's squishiness though it would lower it's damage a lot, but if you can get big groups with your first night slash hits you'd be able to ensure you get the final hit and don't die mid combo.

I feel like Drain Crown works pretty well on Aegislash. You do a bunch of basics and a ton of damage with them. I’ve also been trying it out on Azumaril (Aqua Tail) but it hasn’t been as useful as I’ve maybe wished it would be. Something I’ve been absolutely loving it on is Dragonite (Hyper Beam). Dragonite really benefits from basic attacks and I can really feel the scarf!
However, something I’ve noticed is that I seem to be healing at least double the amount when attacking wild Pokémon compared to enemy Pokémon. It feels a bit bugged in my opinion and I hope they either fix it or there’s some sort of valid reason as to why the healing on enemy’s is almost nonexistent when it heal some insane amounts of of wild mons.
I feel like the entire game in general is really buggy rn. Most of it seems to have happened after the recent Christmas update. Your “Favourite Pokémon” tab is completely false and ruined, the matchmaking is worse than ever, even to the point of having Masters match with Beginners, the profile sometimes bugging and as earlier mentioned Drain Crown seemingly being bugged.

I feel like you need gigantic damage on basic attacks (and very often) in order to get any mileage of the drain crown. And Pokemon that can deal that damage are just better doing more damage. Pokemon that deal like 1k per crit basic are Azu, Dodrio, Absol, Duralodon, Greninja, Flail Lax, Crit Crustle. But again, very few of those mons actually want the item
