In this episode "The unwritten Commandment" I see the reconciliation of father and his son Andy. In the concluding of this episode at minute no. 45.53 son Andy sings a special number in the church on the Easter Resurrection Sunday in which he sings the hymn "On a hill far away " which is relevant for Good Friday alone. But I feel that this hymn is not an appropriate one for the occasion as this is Easter Resurrection Sunday. Andy could have sung a hymn " Low in the grave he lay" or any other alternate one.
Wayne newton being one of the first sex reassignment surgeries in the US I believe this episode was really a huge campaign to sell Newton as a male. I believe injecting religion was a way to make it more palatable or believable. You can notice the “over-effort” to sell him as a male by his father constantly calling him “boy” and “half-growed man” etc
Bonanza was generally the 1860's. Geroge Berrnard didn't write "The old rugged cross" till 1912 but I don't mind some cinematic license too much when it comes to good music. Robert Lowry 1874 for "Up from the grave He arose" I suspect would have been a more appropriate choice from a theological stand point. I'm sure Wayne would have been moving in that as well.
I didn't see where he changed anything if you mean Scarlet Ribbons. Those are the words to the song I grew up with. The only thing he changed was he said 200 instead of a hundred.
Thumbs up for the music and Wayne............music is a bandage on a sick world..
Thanks nice audio
I thought I recognized that kid. That was Wayne Newton.
Oh yeah. He was definitely a kid then. He played the same Andy Walker character on one more Bonanza episode. A Christmas Story the following season.

His brother Jerry played Mike in this episode.
I didn't know Wayne Newton had such a beautiful voice.

is pa was Malcolm Atterbury Mr. Jeans was Hugh Brannum
Beautiful love t❤️❤️❤️
Non of the actors in Bonanza know how to hold a hammer. You hold it at the end, not at the neck.
What about all the beer mugs left more than half full when they leave the saloon.
@@charleschampion4682 thats some good manners to leave the glas around half , sign of good dringking .

I didn’t like the way he changed the original last few words of the song 🎶 🎵 🎶
