  • From the 1975 album by the same name, this rendition of a song penned by the legendary Don Gibson and produced by Tom Collins and Jack Johnson reached Number 1 in the country charts.
    This is one of the later examples of "The Nashville Sound" of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, with its lush string arrangements and multi-layered production far removed from the rawness of honky-tonk and old time music.
    The quality and emotion of Milsap's singing, however, stands out in what had become the most commercial phase in the evolution of country music.
    Originally an R & B performer, Milsap was discovered in 1972 playing in a nightclub by none other than Charlie Pride, who convinced him to try his hand at country music.
