I feel like in general, short shifting has been nerfed a bit this year. Even in the dry, in corners where I normally short shift, it seems like just revving out the gear I take the corner in gets me much faster times than short shifting does in F1 22. Maybe it's just my driving style. It also seems like engine braking is a lot more powerful this year. Maybe it's the heavier cars or new aero, but downshifting to the suggested gear seems to slow the car down a lot faster. And why does Codies always recommend 9k RPM's when clearly 11k is much better for starts?
Thanks for the video, I've just returned to this years game and trying to get better with no TC and the starts have been a nightmare. This will be beyond helpful!
(Before watching the video) Your F1 2021 "How to start" video helped me a huge amount, but was kinda on the late side, the game was already out for quite a bit, so I'm excited for this one, since it's still really early and race starts in this game are on another level of difficulty compared to last game imo. I'm no where near getting an equal dtart to the AI, even when I lower their difficulty like 15 clicks below my level lol
My man! Thanks. This was a real weak point this year for me. I just couldn’t get a hang of it at all. Last year I had rocket starts. I’m gonna take this knowledge and get at it 🙌🏻
I find f1 22 more harder than f1 21 ... for f1 21 i used medium traction but for f1 22 im spinning everywhere, even my starts i spin as soon as the lights go out so i have to put it back to full traction
Your guides are so valuable danke dafür. Can you also create a wet setup guide in General and how to change breaking points and traction control? I struggle a lot having grip and always understearing in the wets
Look. In the start, I short shift, but I usually lose at least 4 places, but I gain them back by my good race pace. I want to tell you something I noticed yesterday in my very slow Alpine, but it would be better if it's private.
Question, isn't lower differential better for diff? So if I put it on 50 or 55% it's better than 65%? Or am I understanding this wrong, please if someone can explain it to me.
Marcel, last year you made a video with optimal temps before qualification laps. The values you give in this video are different. Is BCS values not the same as the race start that a qualification lap or is BCS this year's temps are different.
can someone explain this? i just switched to manual gears and when I start it stays in neutral instead of going to firtd gear bofor the lights go out how do i get it to first gear
I don't know if it's the TC or the differential but something keeps slowing me down massively in the rain whenever I'm trying to get through a corner..and when I try to accelerate, the engine stutters like crazy....I just can't get the hang of driving in wet conditions, let alone get a decent start. It's maddening😠
@@zachmcgroin4769 I've never tried playing manual on controller before either, I just kind of do some manual shifting here and there, now that the automatic gearbox takes ages to upshift since patch 1.06 came out, especially from 7th to 8th gear...I hope that got fixed again with 1.07

@@teenyklee nothing wrong with that at all! I'm not a very good race starter so I usually have my diff at 65 and then switch to my desired setup for the race pace. If you launch without issues (without traction control) then you're totally fine leaving it wherever you feel is best :)
@@teenyklee exactly! But again this is only if you are driving without TC. And even moreso, this comes down to preference. I'm not very good so you may not need the extra help on starts lol
3:29 100% throttle in 3rd gear, seriously how are you doing that? I spin it in 3rd gear every time if I go anywhere near 50% throttle, even if I build up the revs really slowly and AI is flying past me. I can’t build to full throttle unless I’m in 5th gear. Every track I restart the session over and over and it just feels broken to me. I’m having to turn traction control on for race starts
Dry Start: 2:42
Inter Start: 6:25
Wet Start: 9:07
Hope it helps if you only want to know how to leave the grid properly.
Thanks for this tutorial, finally I am not spinning at the start or losing 5 positions
This comment really explained my struggle

They even reduced engine dmg from over revving and early down shifts with the new update
Finally the tutorial i’ve been looking for. Great video bro!
Hey marcel. are you able to do a video on how master creating a setup for most tracks.
i was looking at the german video until I realized you just uploaded in both channels lmao

I was waiting for you to come out with this tutorial. 👍
for some reason, I find I have so much more traction if I actually do the formation lap, like a drastic amount more
Because of the temp of your tyres, the tyres are gonna be warmed up and will provide better traction resulting in a better start
And if you don't do formation lap your tires will be 70 degrees instead
Thank you Marcel Joshua davis sent me here really helps👍
This is the video what I needed!!
Thank you!!

Great content as always. Great insight. Thanks so much!
The dif only 65 for the start? Or do you change it over the course of the race?
Really nice to see a start for each weather condition! 👍
It's helping big time if you're not an experienced driver or just a whack starter. Haha
Yes mate I ask for this one day ago and he made it this is why he’s the best f1 streamer
Wow, really good video. Thx so much Marcel

Hey Marcel, when you do the manual gearbox video can you test out upshift tone?
Does reaction time is a factor in order to get a good start?
Thanks mate!
Thanks Marcel that has helped me verymuch cheers mate 🍻👍🙂
I feel so confused. Is it the core temperture or the carcass temperture that matters, both on race starts and thru the race?
Thank you so much this helps a ton
great tutorial - thank you!
Would of liked more talk about throttle & Gears on the start
Yeah thanks I was struggling with the starts in this game

Check his F1 22 Settings video
how are u so stable on the rpm on the start?
Could you do a video on how to get better in the rain please
How u dont have green light on rpm lights?

Do you know why the leaderboards are always with assist drivers included? I think it is a bit nasty
Whats optimal temp for medium tyres during a race?

Wait should i race the whole race with differential ? 55 or something, what does this do :s?
Drop it for the start then when you can raise it back to where it originally was
Can anyone help for a totally beginner? I cant even start a car in automatic gears with start assits its just keep spinning :S
Just be careful with the throttle. Easier said than done
So the best tactics on start for wets is to break your wing? 🤨🤨
Will I lose straight line speed with a lower differential?
Yes but if you if you have a wheel with enough buttons you can adjust your diff on the fly
