I really liked the costuming in this movie. Especially how as the movie goes on Sophie’s costumes get more and more 70s inspired, like the vibes, as she feels closer to her mom. Also everything Lily James wears in this movie is incredible . My new fashion icon.
(Also whoever put Lily in those pants during the Mamma Mia scene is my favorite person…good lord, I know it’s not June anymore but happy pride month to me…😳).
The costume team knew how to work Lily James's strengths 😩👌
@@SophiaPhannn 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Ok, so I'm from Greece and fun fact; this random Lazaros dude singing in the tavern is actually a quite well known singer here, named Panos Mouzourakis (I really like his songs), and when I first saw him in the movie, my jaw just dropped, 'cause I had no idea he was gonna be in this😂
(Also you rock that blue hair😍 and I hope you get through whatever it is that you're going through🤍)
Thank you 💙💙💙
I was hoping that you would see this movie, especially when I heard you say that Fernando is your favorite Abba song.
Honestly, I was expecting to enjoy the boys in this movie but Lily James blew me away. Immense crush right there. Between her pretty face and costumes and her delightful bright personality? oof.
Also I never expect this from the movies but the strong depictions of motherhood and the mother-daughter bond always make me sob.
What I love is that young Donna was SUNG TO by the first two but then she SANG TO the last man she met. Being a sign that they would end up together in my book lol
the fact that the lyrics to when i kissed the teacher were changed to have she/her pronouns is a gift
I like the first Mamma Mia but i looooooove the sequel way more ♥
Lily James was perfect as young Donna!
Agree. I also really like the rest of the young cast, but Lily was a fantastic choice for Donna
Also the film is supposedly 5 years after the original, but considering the obvious age difference in the actors, and the modern iPhone Sophie uses, I just think it was ten years
I need to rewatch this. I remember seeing it in theatres with my best friend and immediately crying when they revealed Donna died 🙃 but for a sequel, I really did like it. Lily James was so great and the casting of Rosie and Tanya was spot on! However, I disliked Cher and how big of a deal everyone made about her being in it lol. I felt like her appearance was so hyped before i saw it... meh. Not a huge fan of her. But now i really need to rewatch this.
I remember when it was released back in 2018, everybody in the cinema were sobbing when the scene my love my life and meryl showed up. Very emotional and very effective.
The best part of this movie is when it's over.
When it's over and then you have that GLORIOUS version of Super Trouper!!!
I remember how Struck I was after watching this movie. There you have Donna, freshly graduated and all alone in a new country, gets on a boat with a stranger that clearly wants to get with her, and still you Never Worry about her! Because this is the Mamma Mia Universe and nonconsensual things just don't happen in the MMU. Also that Female Gaze(TM) for all the love interests? Iconic 🙏😍
The order isn't wrong it's just not what was in the diary, the Sam bit is correct then Bill comes back like in the film and then "Harry showed up out of the blue and I said I'd show him the island!"
The way it's written is as though she had already met Bill and Harry so the order is correct in this film
I don't know why but I prefer this movie or I find it more rewatchable for some reason. I love the cast, specially young Rosie, she's so cute. And I think "I'll be waiting for you" on this movie and "Slipping through my fingers" from the first one are my favourite songs!
7:51, yeah there’s another error because in the first movie donna says “someone up there has it in for me, i think it’s my mother” implying that her mother is dead... yet she’s alive and well in this movie
The way you deliver looks in every video ❤️
Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are executive producers in both movies. The same way as Benny & Bjorn (ABBA).
My friend hadn’t seen either of the Mama Mia movies, so we watched them back to back recently. The moment they revealed Donna had died, she burst into tears-
Kinda surprised you didn't cry during the Christening when Donna's spirit appears. I was an emotional wreck when I first saw it! 😭
Also from what I've been told, Meryl Streep doesn't like doing sequels so I believe that's why they killed Donna off. I'm honestly kind of annoyed by that cause while I get Meryl's reasons, I don't think they had to have killed Donna off. Maybe just have her be out of town for the majority of the movie and then have her appear in the end like they did here like she made it last minute to the Christening. Maybe it's just me but I feel like killing her off kind of ruined this movie and the first movie for me. On a more positive note, LOVED seeing Cher in this even if the conflict was resolved kind of weirdly but I don't care cause it's freakin' CHER! 😍😊
Tbh when I watch Mamma Mia, I don't really watch for the plot. I watch it for the music and pretty colors, so I'm not too invested in these characters. Maybe that's why I didn't cry 😂 although I was the most invested in young Donna 😍
@@SophiaPhannn Fair enough. I guess I also do that at times as well. Sometimes I'll just skim through certain movies just to watch certain scenes or only watch certain actors/actresses' scenes. 😂
I think they killed her off to give a more emotional weight.
I think you're right! It would've been so much more emotional if they had Donna show up again just in time for the Christening to show she's not like how her mom was and to show how she really was always gonna be there for Soph
This feels so much like a COVID movie but it came out in 2018 lol
GIRL blue looks so damn good on you !!!💙💙
Initially, upon seeing the teaser trailer, I mistakenly thought Lily James was playing an older version of Sophie. So I wondered, "Why didn't they have Amanda Seyfried play Sophie?" Then after searching the movie on the computer and seeing the cast, I realized Lily James was a younger version of Meryl Streep/Donna.
(ABBA songs being sad) Yeah, especially "Knowing Me, Knowing You." One of my friends had an ABBA birthday party and we did the ABBA sing-a-long and we (all of us at the party) jokingly all said that "Knowing Me, Knowing You" is the ultimate break-up songs
The sequel was a little tearjerker but it was good to hear the music of ABBA was iconic.
The first movie they filmed in Greece, but for this movie they had to film in Croatia for different reasons
Looking cute with the blue hair!
I really enjoy Mama Mia 2. I wish the flashback guys were a bit less bland, but Lily James is gorgeous enough to make up for it.
Omg okay so I wasn't the only one who thought the men were a little bland haha the women definitely made up for them
The little detail that I love about this movie, is that all the love is because where they are is known as “Aphrodite’s fountain” :)
CHER IS IN THIS MOVIE!!!
And it's fricken awesome!
im going to agree with you that they could have done a better job differentiating between the past and the present because it took until the scene of young donna in labor for my dad to turn to me with an obviously confused look on his face and ask if lily james was a different actress than amanda seyfried. he was like "is this donna?" or "is this not the daughter?" or something, i don't quite remember but that movie was so confusing for him, he had to watch it a second time with the context of the two timelines being shown haha filmakers gotta learn to accommodate the face blind gentlemen in the audience!! lolllll
That's so funny looool they don't even look similar 😂
The blue hair also looks so good on you! ❤❤❤❤❤
Young Donna is 100% the inspiration for my life after watching this, what an icon.
so sophie wasn't really about not being bogged down by the island, she loved it, she just wanted to do some serious traveling as opposed to never leaving for any significant amount of time. she and sky traveled (possibly even for years) but now she's back and wants to stay
Unrelated to the actual quality of the movie, but the 4k HDR version of this movie is truly stunning. So if anyones into that
anyone who noticed the cameos by BJORN AND BENNY??
Who wouldn’t be in love with Lily James? She’s GORGEOUS!!
I love how the grandmother just shows up as if Donna didn't say she was dead in the first movie lool Also the probability of Sophie being Harry's child is close to none which kinda ruins the first movie as well
This video came up in my recommended and I clicked because the title got me since Lily James was my bisexual awakening 😂😂
I really didn't like this movie when I first watched it, but I recently rewatched it and for some reason I really loved it...
I don't think I've ever had a change of opinion on a movie like that. Going from almost hating it, to absolutely loving it
I kind of went through that with the first movie where I liked it then I started to dislike it because I thought it was really cheesy (being a musical snob lol). And then I liked it again 😂
I'd love to see you watch the Cheetah Girls, such an iconic moment in Disney Channel history 🐆
Cheetah Girls 2 was the BEST!!! I really wanted to study abroad in Barcelona during college, but the program required me to know Spanish and I did not know it 🥲🥲🥲
Omg just two days ago I was talking with my friends about Cheetah Girls!! Here in México Cheetah Girls 2 was very popular because Belinda (a child star and famous singer) is in the movie
Yk what I wanna know? What happened to Sophie's friends, they don't get mentioned at all
I had commented on one of your TikToks and you replied
"How are these guys falling in love so fast?" Ummm, have you MET Lily James in this movie? 😍😍😍
i didn’t know lily james isn’t american
I, too, am in love with lily james so we are of to a good start 🥰. She’s just so pretty and perfect and this role was made for her
Me laughing in 42 degrees celcius 😂
Did the character of Donna pass away in the original Broadway musical?
Okay so I love movie reviews and reactions but like when i watched your turning red movie...it changed me. No really, I just like your content:) Subscribing!!!!
So I think the reason why Meryl Streep’s character Donna was written to have Passed was because from what I hear she doesn’t do Sequels with characters she plays and it had been like that for as long as Meryl had been acting I guess, but for Mama Mia this was the only exception she did. I guess it was a way of a send off for her character.
Something that is weird with the casting though is that the eye color for Donna is different when she's in her youth vs when she was older XD
Donna eyes turned blue when she was older lol, they should have made one of them wore contacts lol but I guess it didn’t matter too much
@@princessg8097 Yeah something like that xD
Unrelated to the actual quality of the movie, but the 4k HDR version of this movie is truly stunning. So if anyones into that
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe and have a Happy 4th Of July.
not my fav movie but damn i love that cher comes in on a helicopter to sing fernando lol
I think Fernando is Donna's father.
Lily James is like my biggest celebrity crush
meryl streep famously doesn't do sequels so when people learned that donna was going to be dead in this one, it was disappointing but not wholly surprising, but for her to be like "psych!" and roll up for the ending was great!
i actually do prefer the 2nd one to the original because i CANNOT handle the amount of cringe in the first one no matter how much i do actually enjoy it as a whole. the 2nd one dials back the cringe a bit but is still fun
I love your blue hair it looks really nice
Also love mamma Mia here we go again
the first mamma mia was supposed to be in late 1999 or early 2000. and the second one is 5 years later
Sophie I love how much of yourself you share ❤️❤️ I love this movie and love your video!
OMG I was literally rewatching your Mamma Mia video last week and I was like "aw man I feel like if she was gonna watch Mamma Mia 2 she would've done it by now" and then I see this LOL I'm glad you finally got to see Fernando lol
I'm just slow 😂
@@SophiaPhannn it was worth the wait haha so it's ok 😄
Ok but like the bi vibes emanating from young Donna in this movie :O🌈
girl yesterday I binged watched you’re videos for the second time and then today you dropped another video ahhh I screamed p.s. Happy 4th of July Girlie stay safe ❤️✨
The best cameo in this film is the woman from the first film who threw the wood stack on the floor while they were singing 'Dancing Queen'
Still mad they didn't give Fernando to Colin Firth
Not you having a full on identity crisis at 22:20 because of the line delivery
Sky needed to take back what he released into the universe 🔫🔫🔫
I’m so glad you watched this movie it’s like my number 1 favorite go to movie🤩🤩🤩
I think it was too much sadness at the end.I prefer the first movie
this one is so much fun!
Love your hair Sophia, it looks amazing ! Love this movie too, it just hits a sweet spot for me even with the manager coming from nowhere lol
Ffs you talk way too much, barely react or let us watch a thing
I have to say if you love abba music I really feel like you should watch Muriel’s wedding
OH MY GOD, YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO CUTE!!!!!
Can u do the babysitters club series?
I really love this movie so much, but at the same time I hate that the killed Dona 😢 Also, Cher as the grandma..... WHY?!! I love Cher but she's almost the same age as Meryl and her "story" was soooooo random!!
My issue with this movie was that they changed the looks of all the guys from what the flashback scenes from the first movie had. It felt like they were trying to modernize them, so even though each guy still has their own specific style still, it just doesn't look like they're from that time period at all. I would have loved for them to go with the original vibes. The songs and all are great, I just want to know why the film makers strayed.
I thought the same thing!! Sam was supposed to look hippy-ish 😂 it would've been fun if they leaned more into it considering they did a great job costuming young Donna, Rosie, and Tanya
I think this film takes place like 5 years after the first film
Donna said earlier in the movie to Harry that her mother faced a heartbreak in 1959 and that was actually Senor Fernando Sin Fuegos
I know it's been a while since you did these videos but has it been mentioned that both of the men from Abba make appearances in both of these movies? Apologies if that's old news.
It plays merry hell with the continuity and Andy Garcia is at least twenty years too young to be playing his character but it was honestly fun, Lily James was great and the young Tania and Rosie were fantastic casting. Can't go wrong with ABBA!
Me too!! Lily is amazing!
I just watched the first film and It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. 3:26 She died I had no idea.
“Mamma Mia here we go again” holds a special place in my heart because it came out while I was on vacation in El Salvador, and because Meryl Streep did end up returning (even though it’s not for the full movie) for this movie when she has the reputation of not making sequels
I watched the sequel before watching g the first one and I like the sequel better.
OMGGGG YASSSSSSSSSSSS SLAYYYY
Same girl lilly james as donna was so charming and charismatic
Unfortunately donna died of cancer but not in real life
It’s 5 years In the future from the first movie. ❤
Its been like 104 degrees Fahrenheit all for a month and yet I have a cold. Great.
It was really filmed on location just in Tunisia and not Greece
Does anyone remember Rise of the guardian
Love your blue hair! Especially love the way it looks in that ponytail! 💙😊
When are you watching Everything Everywhere All At Once for this channel??? (If you haven't already). Love your reactions!
YES IM SECOND
I really wish this movie had only been young Dona and that's it
This is literally my fav movie of all time and I have the young Donna sooo
much so when I saw this video I just HAD to watch it.
Lilly James and Meryl Streep are related.
needed this commentary tonight, something light-hearted to lighten my night
Glad you liked it 💙💙💙
I didn’t think I would cry at this when I’ve already seen the movie so many times and having sophia as an emotional protection barrier 😃
Harry Potter's parents are in this?
Omg sophia you may not even see this but you just have to watch this movie (its animated so idk how you would feel abt that) but its called Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs (its south korean i think but the english version is with sam clafin and chloe grace mortez) and its like snow white but with the most amazing message abt self love and it is just so adorable and feels right up your alley. You don't even have to make a vid abt it just tell us what you think, but yeah it's adorable and I rlly recommend :)
Review Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) Movie with Jim Carrey Please
I’m in love with her too lol!
