when breathing to compact the breath you close the hui yin to stop wind from flowing out. do you release that when you finish and breath out or continue to hold it for subsequent breaths? Very interesting thankyou for sharing.
Usually one relaxes the muscles of the pelvic floor when breathing out. You can however (if you like) do small squezes with those muscles as you breathe out in order to bring some additional energy up inside of your body.
Is it normal to feel a pressure in the head when doing the vase breathing breath retention? As an the blood pressure increases when doing the breath retention? Also, according to every other source on youtube, one does some sort of forceful inhalation and exhaling before the breath retention. My question is therefore, is the forceful breathing solely a thing/gimmick derived by Wim Hof and all other videos (that I've seen) a variation thereof? Are there some Tummo practices that include forceful breathing, or are they all based on the relaxed nature of vase breathing? Thanks for a sincere and thorough introduction to Tummo. It's immensely appreciated.
Hello, Pressure in the head can happen as a side effect, take it more easy, keep your body relaxed as you are holding the vase breath and also don't hold it for too long, then the pressure should resolve. There are traditional Tummo techniques that use a somewhat controlled hyperventilation before doing the vase Breathing (, so similar to Wim Hof's technique), but these are very rare in the original tradition. Also if they are done, the breath hold is still done with a Vase Breath, not on an empty lung.
@@vajramandala Thank you for much for the quick response. I'll try and ease a bit more into it. Alright, solely vase breathing it is then. Interesting the forceful breathing is so widespreadly being promoted as an integral element of Tummo. Furthermore, people can't seem to agree on the variation of forceful breathing either. But I digress. I'm glad to have found an authentic teaching of Tummo, beautifully and comprehensively transmitted by the two of you. I'll definitely move forward with the meditation you've presented. I wish you all the best.
When pressing the upper wind down, do you simultaneously contract the pelvic floor or you press down the diaphragm first, and then contract the pelvic floor? Thank you!
You will need to learn deep belly breathing. Once you are able to breathe deeply into the belly the diaphragm will move down naturally when holding/ doing the vase breathing.
@vajramandala You mean you just relax the diaphragm? Because I can't see the diaphragm moving down in the video. Maybe because moving it down is not what you mean?
@@scraggybearThe diaphragm moves down automatically when you inhale and expands when you breathe out (to push the out the air), it's okay if you don't feel the diaphragm directly.
How is it possible that you are authorized to share this in public? I always heard that tummo is a secret practice, that should only be practiced under the supervision of a highly skilled master, and certainly not shared randomly.
According to his Holiness the Dalai Lama, the time of secrecy is over. What you see in here is merely an introduction and we do not share Tummo randomly but over the course of time and effort of life practice sessions so that everybody can grasp the techniques and the dos and donts. We also have the blessing of our Lama to do so.
@@vajramandala Thank you for clarifying. What about the safety of it? Can anyone really get into this without supervision? I've heard several times about both psychological as well as physiological dangers.
@@studentofspacetime Most of the dangerous some people talk about are exaggerated. We don't know anyone having permanent damage or issues from doing Tummo practice. Nevertheless we recommend to practice under supervision, which is why you only see a simple introduction here and we only offer more in depth instructions to those who join our weekly classes.
@@vajramandala I see. I appreciate your answers, you give a sincere vibe. It still feels strange that these teachings are now out in the open.
