    What do you think Germany can do to help the EU weather the coronavirus crisis?

    • @BoffinGrusky
      @BoffinGrusky 4 года назад +18

      In reality, the only practical thing that any and all nations can do, is to protect the most vulnerable of the populations, and restart the economies of the world. If world leaders allow global economic conditions to deteriorate further, the destructive consequences will far outweigh anything wrought by the virus.

      @dadikkedude 4 года назад +12

      @daniel tan to say they don't interfere in other countries is beyond ignorant. As for sending troops to engage in these proxy wars, yea Russia is catching on to that now. In Syria, Libya, Ukraine. Also still have a pacts with some former USSR countries.
      Long history of funding armed groups who were defending against the west. China in Vietnam, arming and training militia's. All these countries are in the wrong. Making war for influence and eventually money.
      The real pandemic for centuries is greed.

    • @dadikkedude
      @dadikkedude 4 года назад +7

      @daniel tan Not to mention Russias internal wars with Chechnya for example. They invaded Afghanistan long before America did. Numerous backings of dodgy dictators in latin America including Cuba, Venezuela etc.
      China now bullying its neighbors in the south China sea. Backing of a nuclear madmen in north Korea.
      All of these 'super powers' are to weak to rule with sense, so they use fear.
      Not denying that every conflict the west has been involved in is mutually questionable and probably more numerous.

    Hopefully the EU needs to be more united, we're not in the early 20th century where the majority of superpowers are European. Only together can we defend our interests on the world stage.
    We need a bicameral parliament with a government elected by the lower house that handles foreign policy, some economic policy (keep loose compared to other federations) and external borders.
    Only united can we not be pawns to the US and China.

    Besides all the BS the EU has been piling up during the last 2 decades or so, the stark reality is only one. While the founding father intentions were sincere and good to eventually roll all the European countries in a singular entity. In reality the project never really started to take shape. The only reason that The Euro was introduced was to try to cement economically the various countries, which never worked either, but immensely helped the German centered export economy. At the moment the EU is an empty shell, for it is politically, culturally, economically and militarily divided, and there are no plan or will to bring the Union to completion.For the last 15 years or so the EU economic policy had been that of Austerity and in fact Germany has been calling all the shots throwing under the economic depression Greece, and extinguishing throughout the entire area Millions upon millions of mostly family run small businesses. Only in the last couple of weeks Angela Merkle to save her political career, superficially has changed her political economic opinion, but it is only to save the foundling EU market from which Germany draws great benefits. The Corona Virus pandemic has created economic havoc throughout the entire EU countries. It would have been economically welcome and wise to immediately inject great amount of cash in the economy to save it for a far worse scenario that it is developing to be, like President Trump and Boris Johnson have done, the German Austerity is still calling the shots, and has opened a very deep crisis that will first hit Germany more than any other country, in fact its car manufacturing might is starting to wobble thanks to the failed Socialist economic Austerity program that never understood the lateral damage it will cause. Whether they will sign a weak economic program or not, the EU is dead, and it has been dead for a long time, but kept alive by various means strictly by German interests.
