Here in New Zealand mid-size trucks dominant our vehicle market, the Ranger has been our best-selling vehicle for the last 10 years straight, the upcoming Ranger Superduty will be a great addition to our market. New Zealand & Australia are unique with the fact we're the only RHD countries in the world that officially sell full-size American trucks. That being said, for the average truck buyer in either country, these American trucks are not an option due to how expensive they are. The Ranger Superduty will be the perfect alternative for those looking for a truck that has more towing/hauling capability than a traditional mid-size truck, but without having the size or price tag of a full-size truck. The Ranger Superduty will essentially bridge the gap between mid-size & full-size trucks in New Zealand & Australia.
It's something Aussie tradies have been screaming for here for a long time. I think the only reason we are getting it is because Ford Australia responsible for engineering the current ranger are listening to us. I think you are correct- most of the world market needs this and the US really doesn't.
The current Thai build mid size utes/ trucks all have versions with payloads far greater than the American 1500 full size trucks. The RAM 1500, Tundra and Silverado 1500 sold here in Australia have poor payload numbers when compared to the Ranger, Hilux, Triton and Navara which are all close to over 1000kg/2200 pounds The Super Duty Ranger will have a payload over 1.5 T.
I hope the new ranger comes with a live axle front end and a decent sizes diesel motor. It might take over from the 79 series land cruiser. There’s a decent market in the commercial areas of mining and farming and throw in the tradies that want a simple reliable work vehicle. Land cruiser going to 4 cylinders will destroy the cult following they currently have.
The roads aren't the problem here in Australia. The F 150 and RAM 1500 aren't rated to carry a postage stamp. The super duty will carry far more.

Hope super duty comes to the UK. Great application to the Ford range as Ford and Toyota are only trucks available.
It’s actually expected to be around 2,000kg of payload (4,400 lbs).
Ive always wanted a f150 with solid front axle and slightly higher payload.
