  • Hello everyone! This is my first tutorial and It's about something that may not be easy. Well, switching things to another software is always complicated, I hope you find helpfull this way I trasfered the xgen to blender and If you have questions let me know in the comments! You need to know that this video was made without previous script and as fast as I could because some people asked me for It. And also I will try to improve my English in the future videos! :)

    Thank you! Worked great when I tested it and I can say I will be using this technique since it's the best one. Thank you for explaining how you can fix some of the hairs aswell

    Hi Nelo,
    Thanks so much! This video helped me out a lot. I was just wondering if you know how to
    connect a texture map to it as well? 😄

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  6 месяцев назад

      Hey, thank to you for your comment! I think that you can connect a texture map creating an image texture and putting It to the base color output or melanin of the principed hair I don't remember exactly the outputs but try with that, If you can't achieve It try searching It on RUclips, I think there're tutorials about It,
      Good luck and have a nice day ;)

    Great video! Will that work with a simulated hair as well? Or does it work only on static one?

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks man! I didn't tried simulating It, probably If It's not posible an option could be simulating It on Maya and then exporting the simulation to Blender. This technique I've made, is for static shots. I don't hope It can work for production but maybe there's a solution out there!

    Hi! Tell me plz, what to do if you select all the hair and do everything that you show, but nothing happens, interactive groom is not created

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  8 месяцев назад

      Hey! You need to select first all the xgen hair on the outliner to convert It

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  8 месяцев назад

      It should do It well, maybe It's one of those thousands errors that xgen make

    Thank you for your tutorial.I have one question, how I attach the hair to the geometry in the same way of xgen?
    I have a beard, i need to have it follow my geo.
    Thank you.

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  Месяц назад +1

      You need to select the character and then the beard and hit Ctrl + P, parent keep offset, I think Is something like that

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
    Will this solution work for a hair simulation from houdini into blender as well? I've been having to export my hair from houdini as polywire and the alembic is massive and cumbersome.

      @NeloMN1  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks! And sorry I didn't see your message🙏🏽, I didn't tried with houdini, haven't worked with hair simulation there yet, I don't know If there's an alternative but probably a similar solution, you could search on houdini forums vía reddit or discord to find a solution, good luck!

    Does the hair simulation from xgen works in blender.. if we use this method???

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  8 месяцев назад

      I don't think so, maybe there's a way but I think that the best thing for that is replicating from Scratch the xgen curves to blender

    Thank you for your video, Just have some tech problem like to share with you, do you know how to transfer the width ramp data from xgen to blender? I tried many method but not working, for example ( the width of root are thinner than tips, when you export to blender the whole strand are in same width) thank you very much

    • @NeloMN1
      @NeloMN1  Год назад +1

      The same happened to me, did you remove the atribute "radius" from the object data properties?

      @@NeloMN1 I tried but not working, The only workaround i found is apply another Geo nodes for width in blender, but not good as xgen

      @@overburdend36 hmm that's strange because on my model I think It worked, maybe were not the same as maya and I didn't notice🤔. You need to know that exporting the xgen to another software It's so much difficult to look the same as Maya. I would like to help your problem but I don't If you can export It with same with ramp... Try to open tickets on blender discord forums and maybe someone knows how to do It, good luck and If you've more questions I Will be here! :)
